The Jablanica region represents a complex spatial entity, which is identified on the basis of the postulates of modern regional geography, within the mesoregion of Southern Serbia. The region is differentiated into five micro-regions: Gornja Jablanica, Donja Jablanica, Pustorečki kraj, Porečje and Poljanica. Scientific research at the level of micro-regions enabled the analysis of regional-geographical components, identification of intra-regional differences and definition of development potentials. Scientific problems of research are related to physiognomic and functional changes in Jablanica, which were caused by natural, demographic and socioeconomic factors and complex processes in the second half of the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st century. Using scientific methods and field research, the most important geographical factors that influenced the physiognomic and functional changes in the region, as well as their cause-and-effect relationships, were determined. By identifying and analyzing development changes and processes in the region, the possibilities for their solution and reduction of differences in the socio-economic development of the region (especially between lowland and hilly and mountainous areas of the region) have been defined. The economicgeographical analysis is based on the main potentials in the region: agricultural land, forests, mineral resources and geothermal energy of Sijarinska Banja. Using different indicators, the changes in the network of Jablanica settlements during the second half of the 20th century and in the first two decades of the 21st century were analyzed. Based on the analysis, the spatialfunctional and socio-economic determinants of regional development were identified. The regional connection of Jablanica with the neighboring territorial units is a necessary precondition for future socio-economic development, especially in the hilly and mountainous part of the region. The proposed regional development measures should contribute to the economic and demographic revitalization of the region and its micro-regional entities

Assessing the tourist potential of cultural–historical spatial units of Serbia using comparative application of AHP and mathematical method

    Get PDF
Various socio-historical and cultural influences that have permeated the territory of Serbia have created a specific cultural heritage composed of interesting architecture, spatial and environmental units, folklore, gastronomy, lifestyle, and other specifics, which are usually under protection and are significantly visited by tourists. The value of resources and the state of development determine the overall tourist potential of the area. In this research, two methods were used to assess the tourist potential for six spatial, cultural, and historical units in Serbia: the analytical hierarchical process and the mathematical model, which is based on the du Cros method. The aim of the research is to determine the validity of the obtained results through their comparison and to record the shortcomings. The same indicators and sub-indicators were used in both methodologies, while the weighting coefficients differed according to the methodology. The importance of the research is reflected in the confirmation of the fact that there is a need to develop new methods that would eliminate all the shortcomings and increase the level of objectivity in the assessment of tourism potential

Experimental Analysis of Handcart Pushing and Pulling Safety in an Industrial Environment by Using IoT Force and EMG Sensors: Relationship with Operators’ Psychological Status and Pain Syndromes

    Get PDF
Non-ergonomic execution of repetitive physical tasks represents a major cause of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD). This study was focused on the pushing and pulling (P&P) of an industrial handcart (which is a generic physical task present across many industries), with the aim to investigate the dependence of P&P execution on the operators’ psychological status and the presence of pain syndromes of the upper limbs and spine. The developed acquisition system integrated two three-axis force sensors (placed on the left and right arm) and six electromyography (EMG) electrodes (placed on the chest, back, and hand flexor muscles). The conducted experiment involved two groups of participants (with and without increased psychological scores and pain syndromes). Ten force parameters (for both left and right side), one EMG parameter (for three different muscles, both left and right side), and two time-domain parameters were extracted from the acquired signals. Data analysis showed intergroup differences in the examined parameters, especially in force integral values and EMG mean absolute values. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that evaluated the composite effects of pain syndromes, spine mobility, and psychological status of the participants on the execution of P&P tasks—concluding that they have a significant impact on the P&P task execution and potentially on the risk of WMSD. The future work will be directed towards the development of a personalized risk assessment system by considering more muscle groups, supplementary data derived from operators’ poses (extracted with computer vision algorithms), and cognitive parameters (extracted with EEG sensors)

The association between economic and marital transition in Serbia - sequence analysis

    Get PDF
The main aim of this paper is to examine the economic trajectories of persons who have changed marital status. Based on the data from the Survey on Income and Living Conditions SILC (waves 2014-2017), the author uses sequence analysis to construct economic activity histories separately to the subsamples of single to married men and women, married to divorced men and women, and married to widowed men and women. The results show that the different types of marital change are associated with different patterns of economic activity transitions. In general, it turns out that ensuring stable employment is a „prerequisite“ for marriage, and also that economic instability can be considered as a cause of marriage dissolution and divorce. On the other side, different gender patterns of economic activities transitions by types of marital change suggests slow slow separation from traditional marital behavior (patriarchy).Editors: Svemir Gorin, Ivan Radevsk

    Get PDF
Mt. Stara Planina is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Serbia and represents the westernmost part of the large mountain massif of the Balkans. Both endogenous and exogenous forces created interesting geomorphological and hydrological features for geotourism development in this area. This article proposes a preliminary list of geomorphological and hydrological sites and analyses them to reveal which geosite possesses geotourism potential. This research was carried out by applying the modified geosite assessment model. In this article, ten geosites were singled out based on the degree of their attractiveness for geotourism development. The results reveal information about the key fields of improvement for each evaluated geosite, and identify which areas require more attention and better management in the upcoming period for Mt. Stara Planina to become a well-known geotourism destination that would attract a large number of tourists in the future

Osim komunalno-higijenskih problema, braunfi ldi mogu proizvesti i ekonomske i socijalne probleme.
