Multilingual Script Identification on natural images has recently increase research attention and this is very challenging task. This paper presents a review of latest techniques for the multilingual scripts. The system can choose the appropriate Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine to recognize a script based here on script identity of a retrieved line of text or word. A number of approaches for identifying different characters, including such Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Korean and Indian, have been developed. scripts are used in written on natural scenes captured by a voyager from cameras or text recognitions system. Here we also present the difficulties that come with script identification, methods used for features extraction and also the classifiers used for identification. We provided a comprehensive description and evaluation of previous and state-of-the-art script identification approaches. It should be emphasized that researchers in the area of multilingual script recognition is still in its early stages, and additional analysis is needed

    Get PDF
Various researchers presented various solutions for license plate detection but real-time performance is still a challenge in the field. In this paper, we propose a fast license plate detection method to work correctly in a real-time environment. In the first step, we locate or detect the license plate in the image sequences. We used color-based methods to detect the license plate. The method consists of computing image contours, later, we analyzed the contours to localize the license plate in the image sequences. After detecting the license plate, in the second step, we perform segmentation using a character recognition model. Finally, we propose the license plate format checking model to verify the detected license plate is the correct license plate. For the tools, we used OpenCV (open computer vision library) and tesseract for character recognition

This study investigated the Effects of Computer Animation Learning Approach (CALA) on Retention and Interest of pre-service Biology teachers in Cell Division among Kwara State Colleges of Education, Nigeria. Quasi-experimental design involving pretest, posttest experimental and control group design was adopted. A total of 368pre-service Biology teachers formed the population of this study. The sample of the study 120 pre-service Biology teachers selected from intact classes of two co-educational Colleges of Education using multi-stage sampling technique. The experimental group of the study was selected purposively and this comprises 60 pre-service Biology teachers (32 male and 28 female) was taught through CALA while their counterparts in the control group which comprises 60 pre-service Biology teachers (29 male and 31 female) was taught using conventional lecture method. The study answered two research questions and tested two null hypotheses. The instruments Cell Division Retention Test (CDRT) and Cell Division Interest Inventory Scale used were developed, validated and administered to the students, the reliability coefficients of CDRT and CDIIS were established at respectively. Research questions were analyzed descriptively using means and standard deviations. Null hypotheses were verified at P 0.05 levels using t-test. Results revealed significant differences in the retention of pre-service Biology teachers exposed to CALA and those taught using CLM. The result also revealed no significant difference in the retention of males and females pre-service Biology teachers exposed to CALA. Pre-service Biology teachers in the experimental group developed high positive interest in the instructional package. From the findings of the study, it was concluded that using computer animation in cell division concepts has the potentials of enhancing pre-service Biology teachers’ retention and arousing their interest. It was recommended, that the Federal and State Ministries for Tertiary Education to provide computers and projectors for teachers to facilitate teaching with animations. The training and re-training of teachers in ICT were also recommended

    Get PDF
A thermal comfort zone is sought by all living beings for their optimum life activity, production or reproduction. In hot environment, direct evaporative coolers are often used as cost-effective thermal comfort providing-devices. This paper presents performance analysis of newly proposed accessible and cost-effective evaporative cooling pads from local plant materials (herbs and fibers) from Niger, a sub-Saharan country. Experiment was run in an experimental duct exposed to ambient pressure and temperature conditions, with different fan speed (5.11 and 5.52 m/s) and constant pad thickness (5 cm). Saturation efficiencies, mass and heat transfer coefficients, pressure drop, permeability, increase in relative humidity as well as coefficient of performances (COP) and cost-to-efficiency ratios (CER) were obtained for all the pads locally made. Compared to commercially available Celdek pad with tested efficiency of 70.02% and 79.80% at low and high fan speed respectively, local pads efficiencies ranged from 16.50% to 69.88% at a frontal velocity of 5.11m/s and from 22.73% to 78.80% at 5.52 m/s frontal velocity. Most of the local pads had better CER than the commercial one. Pad made from local wood wool emerged to be an excellent candidate providing thermal comfort and outlet temperature close to that of commercial pads. Controlling physical parameters such as arrangement, flute size and packing pattern can help to improve some of thermodynamic properties of locally made pad

Design of Resonant Converter Topologies in Electric Vehicles

The world climate and environment are facing serious threats due to the carbon emission caused by diesel-based vehicles. The increased use of fossil fuels in diesel based vehicles is one of the main reasons for global warming and climate change issues. A recent report suggests that transportation is responsible for contributing 24% of global carbon emissions. Another study by the European Union mentions that carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by the transport sector are approximately 27%, while 70% of emissions are directly emitted by vehicle transport. To address these concerns, electric vehicles (EVs) have received massive attention around the world due to their zero carbon emissions, low noise, light weight, improved performance and efficiency

General Overview and Forecasting of Factors Affecting the Use of Electric Vehicles

    Get PDF
Electric vehicles are being promoted in a number of countries as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel depletion. The rate of adoption of electric vehicles, on the other hand, varies per country. The study's goals were to compare factors that influence electric car uptake and to generate policy suggestions. The design of electric vehicles (EVs) is an example of a successful policy. It has been demonstrated that there is no single appropriate policy or country-specific scenario for supplying electric vehicles. Because electric vehicles are becoming more popular, a policy mix that promotes their proliferation in many countries is required. Government support for EV and charging station adoption appears to dwindle when EV and charging station designs advance beyond a certain point, maybe due to dwindling customer demand. Reduce the cost of electric car charging as well as the cost of license plate registration is one of the most essential things the many countries can do
