Study on empirical model and CFD about pressure rising in Cab during door closure
Aiming at the problem that there is a strong eardrum pressure in the passenger car during the closing process, two analysis and prediction methods, fast formula prediction and CFD simulation based on accurate models, are proposed. The regression model of ear pressure comfort was established by DOE method and multiple linear regression; The simulation software star-CCM+ is applied to simulate and analyze the dynamic characteristics of the flow field in the cockpit during the closing process by using the overlapping grid technology, and the pressure change curve near the ear is obtained. Finally, the CFD numerical simulation model is established by comparing and analyzing the regression prediction analysis results and the real vehicle test data. The results show that the effects of closing speed, effective opening area of pressure relief valve and air tightness of the whole vehicle on the pressure of passengers’ eardrums decrease in turn, and the prediction error of multiple linear regression equation is 17 %; The analysis error of the internal flow field dynamic characteristic model based on refined modeling is 8 %. This study provides a theoretical basis for solving the problem of rapid prediction of eardrum pressure and optimization of engineering structure
Recycling technology of old cement concrete pavement in highways
Through the practice of a highway pavement overhaul project, the feasibility of the old concrete pavement recycling scheme in terms of technology, economy and sustainable development is analyzed. The dynamic characteristics of concrete pavement were tested. The results show that crushing the old concrete panels into recycled aggregates and then re-use them not only eliminates the negative impact on the ecological environment caused by the land occupation of waste aggregates and needs to be disposed of, but also promotes the recycling of engineering waste and reduces the project cost. The pavement paved with recycled cement concrete can basically achieve the same dynamic performance as the pavement paved with conventional concrete
Application of distance field-based algorithm to adjacent spline surfaces for composite structures boundary modeling
The complex boundary modeling required for simulating composite materials was applied to a broad range of problems, including surface overlap and gap. A novel method for the simultaneous fitting of adjacent spline surfaces based on a distance field has been devised. The fitting method for spline surfaces was constructed using offline spline surface, facet simplification, and residual solid reconstruction. The distance field-based approach of simultaneous fitting of neighboring spline surfaces included producing a distance field for a spline surface and then applying that distance field to nearby spline surfaces. There would be junction and separation issues if neighboring spline surfaces were fitted individually. By simultaneously fitting the nearby spline surfaces with the aid of the equivalence surface of the distance field, it was feasible to avoid overlap and gap
Techno-economic modelling of the Baltic CCUS onshore scenario
Techno-economic modelling of the Baltic onshore CO2 transport, storage, and utilization scenario included HeidelberCement-owned Kunda Nordic Cement (KNC) plant, the main Estonian cement producer, four Estonian and one Latvian power plant and CO2 mineral carbonation of the oil shale ash, as possible CO2 use option. In 2019 nearly 6.5 Mt of oil shale ash (OSA) was produced in Estonia from energy production. Estonian OSA could be used as an effective sorbent in the proposed CO2-mineralization process, using CO2 from flue gas and producing precipitated CaCO3 (PCC) of high quality. Mineral carbonation of 0.42 Mt CO2 using 3.8 Mt of fresh OSA and about 6.33 Mt CO2 produced annually by five Estonian and one Latvian plant transported by pipeline for storage into the North-Blidene structure in western Latvia are combined in the CCUS scenario. Cambrian Deimena Formation reservoir sandstone is located at the depth of 1035-1150 m in the selected saline aquifer. The average optimistic storage capacity of about 270 Mt allows planning CCUS project for 30 years. The share of the Estonian emissions avoided and stored in Latvia is 86.5 %, including 8.2 % by KNC, while Latvian stored emissions will compose 13.5 %. Annually 6.8 Mt CO2 could be captured, transported and injected, including 6 Mt CO2 avoided using transport and storage and 0.42 Mt CO2 avoided using MC of Estonian OSA. During 30 years nearly 204 Mt CO2 will be captured, used and stored, while 193 Mt CO2 could be avoided. The total average transport and storage (T&S) cost of the scenario is 18.4 €/t CO2 injected. This cost depends on the transport distance, according to the applied methodology, and it is the most expensive for the Eesti Energia PPs. The lowest T&S cost of 5.54 €/t CO2 injected will have Latvenergo TEC-2 PP located at a smaller distance from the storage site. At the price of EEAP (CO2 Emission Allowance Price in EU ETS) of 40 €/t CO2 and 50 €/t PCC, the CCUS scenario could be beneficial for three Eesti Energia and Latvenergo TEC-2 power plants. For the KNC and VKG Energia plants without CO2 use options, the higher EEAP of about 48-50 €/t CO2 is needed to cover all CCUS costs including capture, compression, transport, storage and monitoring. The transport and storage costs are distance-dependent, as pipelines are the most expensive part of the transport, storage and monitoring costs. At the present EEAP of about 90 €/t CO2, all the participating plants will get benefits from the proposed scenario. This study is supported by CLEANKER project, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement n. 764816
Fault feature extraction of rolling element bearings based on short-time processing
Fault diagnosis of bearings is a crucial part of the maintenance process of the rotary machinery. Extracting the cyclic characteristics of the impact force is of significant importance for the bearing diagnosis. To highlight the fault features from signals combined with heavy background noise, a novel approach for bearing fault diagnosis based on the short-time processing is proposed. Fault signals are regarded as periodic impulse response signals. Firstly, a vibration signal is band-pass filtered with a subsequent spectral analysis. Then we integrate the energy of the filtered signal with a constant length, and the natural logarithm is considered to obtain the energy curve. The energy curve is a straight decaying curve, and its spectral energy is more concentrated on the fault characteristic frequency compared with envelope. Finally, the fault characteristic frequency of the bearing is found by the spectral analysis of the energy curve. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiments. The harmonics and sidebands in logarithmic energy spectrum are suppressed well, and the fault characteristic frequency is highlighted. Comparison of the proposed method with Hilbert envelope method shows that the proposed method can highlight the fault characteristic frequency
Effect of material characteristics of explosive on formation of collinear explosively formed projectile from warhead with double layer liners
In order to obtain the effect of material characteristics of explosive on the formation of collinear explosively formed projectile (EFP)from warhead with dosuble liners, the LS-DYNA simulation software was used to simulate and analyze the forming process of collinear EFP from warhead with five explosive materials including pe4booster, PETN, TNT, C4 and B explosives. The results indicate that with the increase of density, detonation velocity, and detonation pressure, the velocity and the length diameter ratio of the front EFP and rear EFP increase with different laws. With the increase of explosive material density, the velocity and the length diameter ratio of EFPs increase gradually, but the increasing rate decreases gradually. As the detonation velocity increases, the velocity of EFPs increase gradually, but the increasing rate decreases gradually. The length diameter ratio of EFPs decreases first and then increases gradually, showing an "s"-shaped change law. With the increase of explosive detonation pressure, the velocity of EFPs increase gradually, but the increasing rate decrease gradually. The length diameter ratio of the front EFP shows a parabolic growth law with the increase of detonation pressure, and the length diameter ratio of the rear EFP shows an "s"-shaped change law with the detonation pressure
Robotic micromanipulation: b) grippers for biological objects
Recent progress in the field of microrobotics tightly linked to an ability to grab an object firmly without the damage to the surface and structure. Process of biological object grabbing by microgrippers faces numerous limitations in the mechanical, electric and thermal domains; these limitations varies from case to case with different objects, therefore, analysis in this area was an aim of this review. This paper covers an area of micrometric size biological object manipulation and performs an analysis of used actuators and kinematic chains of the grippers in the sense of their application. Limitations and restriction of microgrippers applications analysed along available publications in numerous recent references as well as their successful implementation history. Paper provides result of analysis as compact big picture, which will be useful for researchers and designers in the area of microrobotics

The dual-phase-lag (DPL) model is applied to study the influence of rotation on a two-dimensional micro-elongated thermoelastic medium problem. Mechanical force along with the layer of the elastic half-space interface and micro-elongated thermoelastic half-space is applied. The analytic expressions for displacement component, temperature distribution, micro-elongational scalar and stress components have been derived and represented graphically. The rotation has been studied in the presence DPL model and Lord-Shulman theory
Hybrid energy efficiency mapping in major Saudi locations using small wind turbine-solar systems
The use of fossil fuels of all kinds, such as natural gas, coal and petroleum in energy production, is the main cause of environmental pollution from air, water and soil, which is the direct cause of acid rain, the destruction of forests, the acidity of lakes, and the extinction of many living creatures that could not resist what happened Burning this fuel is due to a change in the surrounding environment. From this, it becomes clear to us the need for new sources to produce clean energy that does not pollute the environment, and work must be developed on these new sources for use in the production of clean energy in the coming years. The purpose of this work is to determine the efficiency of vertical axis turbines to be among the components of a hybrid system (solar/wind) to generate electric power in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The work seeks to answer the research question, what is the efficiency of vertical axis turbines in generating electricity within a hybrid system (solar/wind) to generate electric power in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The aim of the work is to analyze the vertical axis turbines and determine efficiency within the hybrid system in the regions of Saudi Arabia. There are many renewable energy sources (wind, solar thermal energy, solar photovoltaic, biomass, small and large hydropower and geothermal energy). But their efficiency is not stable from time to time, so the idea of hybrid energy came to make up for the shortage, by integrating the energy source Renewables with one or more other sources of energy (In 1999, McGowan and Manwell (1999) presented a summary of WND-PV-DSL HPS progress in the United States.) whether it is a non-renewable or renewable source [1]
Functional orthopedic device type Sn20 – a therapeutic resource in the control of chronic temporomandibular dysfunction – case report
The literature indicates that patients with a history of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD), who experience sudden occlusal changes, may worsen their parafunctional habits and develop TMD again. In this sense, the aim of this study is to present a clinical case of recurrent chronic TMD after oral rehabilitation (increase of vertical dimension in all teeth) using Simões Network 20 (SN20) functional orthopedic appliance as one of the resources therapies. The patient was female, 62 years old, and complained of disabling pain, anxiety symptoms, hypervigilant and history of TMD. The patient reported failure of other treatment modalities, including use of the smooth stabilizer device. The diagnosis was chronic TMD – primary osteoarthritis of the temporomandibular joint and related myofascial pain and orofacial migraine. Treatment included physical measurements, instructions, peripheral and central medication, AOF type SN20 (night use). After three months of therapy, the patient showed significant improvement with complete pain reduction. The use of the AOF SN20 together with conservative measures represents a valuable therapeutic modality for patients with chronic TMD
