Dynamic modeling and analysis of elastic isolation damping gears
Transmission error is the main excitation source of gear vibration and noise, how to reduce the transmission error has always been the focus of the research on gear dynamics. In this study, a new type of cylindrical spur gear with elastic isolation is developed for the reduction of transmission error. The elastic isolation damping gear includes three parts: the gear body, the elastic isolation layer, and the involute profile body. Dynamic models are established with the elastic isolation damping gear using lumped parameter method. Dynamic characteristics are simulated via spur gear pair examples by the Runge-Kutta algorithm. By comparing the simulation results of three gear models, the dynamic response of the elastic isolation damping gear with sliding friction is illustrated. The influence of different parameters of the elastic isolation layer on the dynamic response for the elastic isolation damping gear model is carried out. The results indicate that the proposed elastic isolation damping gear model is effective in reducing dynamic transmission error, especially for torque fluctuation, high-speed and heavy-duty conditions. Parameter influence analysis guides the design of elastic isolation damping gears with low transmission error
Motion characteristics and energy efficiency of potential energy recycling system of telescopic handler
Telescopic handler is combined of truck crane and forklift. Equipped with different accessories, the telescopic handler can achieve fork loading, lifting and other operations. Large amount of energy is needed to maintain lifting and lowering in large range with high frequency of the working device of telescopic handler. There is no energy recycling device for the working device that leads to the large dissipating of gravitational potential energy. In order to recycle the wasted energy, a three-chamber hydraulic cylinder boom system (TCCBS) is proposed. In this paper, the recycling principle is described. Then the energy consumption characteristics are analyzed. Further, the mode of TCCBS of telescopic handler is established and analyzed. Compared with the double chamber cylinder boom system (DCCBS), the single-action time of the boom is reduced 4.15 s. The velocity shock decrease from 0.12 m/s to 0.02 m/s at the beginning of the boom lowering process. The peak pressure decreased from 24 MPa to 21 MPa and the average pressure decreased from 17 MPa to 13 MPa during boom lifting process. The potential energy recycling of the working device is 139 kJ, which accounts for about 47.1 % of total potential energy. The cumulative output energy of TCCBS is 311 kJ, which is 92 kJ less than the DCCBS. The comprehensive energy saving efficiency is 22.3 %. The results show that the TCCBS can realize the potential energy recycling
Improvement of maintenance management through Lean Philosophy and Industry 4.0
For companies to be able not only to survive, but also to differentiate themselves in the current global market scenario, all their functional areas must be in line with short, medium, and long-term management objectives and policies. The performance and competitiveness of companies depend on the behaviour of their production system, so an ambitious and adequate maintenance management is necessary. In this way, companies seek to adopt new methodologies and approaches to maintenance management that allow them to prepare maintenance for the challenges of Lean Philosophy and Industry 4.0. The Lean philosophy aims to do more and more with less and less, that is, using less equipment, less human effort, less space, and time, trying to offer customers exactly what they want, at the right time. On the other hand, Industry 4.0 is based on intelligent factories with production processes with a computer interface between people, machines, and resources, through extensive communication networks that combine the virtual and the real world, to obtain all integrated processes generating thus a real-time information system. Thus, an adequate maintenance management system contributes not only to improve maintenance performance as well as the production system. The maintenance management system, when combined with Lean Philosophy and Industry 4.0 concepts, makes it more efficient and effective. To improve maintenance performance, a system that combines these three concepts is proposed
The vibration of a thermoelastic nanobeam due to thermo-electrical effect of graphene nano-strip under Green-Naghdi type-II model
In this paper, a new analysis of thermoelastic, homogeneous, and isotropic nanobeams has been constructed in the context of the Green-Naghdi type-II heat conduction law. The first end of the nanobeam is based on a graphene strip, which contains an electrical current with a small voltage which is a novel application. Under simply supported boundary conditions with fixed side ratios, the nanobeam has been thermally loaded with a heat source due to the thermal effect of the electrical current. On the time variable, the Laplace transform technique was utilized to solve the governing differential equations. The solutions were computed in the Laplace transform’s domain. Tzou’s approximation technique based on an iteration formula was used to calculate the Laplace transform inversions numerically. The numerical findings for various values of the electrical voltage and electrical resistivity of the graphene nano-strip have been displayed using graphs illustrating distinct scenarios. All the nanobeam’s researched functionalities have been reported to be influenced by electrical voltage and electrical resistivity. The electrical voltage and resistivity of a graphene nano-strip might be utilized as a tuner to regulate the nanobeam's vibration and energy
Numerical convergence of the family of flux-continuous schemes with variable quadrature (qu1,qu2) for single phase flow in porous media
Finite-volume schemes, which honor pressure and flux-continuity conditions, is developed using double quadrature (qu1,qu2), referred as double family scheme. The scheme is applicable to solve the elliptic pressure equation used in reservoir simulation. Schemes are applicable on both regular cartesian and unstructured triangular meshes. The scheme is defined over a control-volume distributed formulation. The scheme can be applied to both diagonal and full permeability tensor elliptic pressure equation with discontinuous coefficients. The scheme removes the first order errors, which are introduced by standard reservoir simulation schemes when applied to full tensor flow. The scheme is quantified with help of a quadrature rule. When the scheme is applied to highly heterogeneous and anisotropic porous media it does not honor maximum principle resulting in unstable solution with oscillatory behavior. The numerical solution is termed non-monotonicity for high anisotropy ratios with results showing oscillations in the numerical pressure solution. In this paper a double (qu1,qu2) quadrature flux continuous schemes is presented, which with specific choice of quadrature (qu1,qu2) helps in improved stability of the numerical solutions. Numerical convergence of the scheme is also demonstrated with help of a number of numerical test cases and schemes impact on monotonicity behavior is also demonstrated with numerical examples
Making humanoid robots teaching assistants by using natural language processing (NLP) cloud-based services
Humanoid robots have a substantial potential to serve as teaching and social assistants. However, the expectations of the children from robots to interact like humans are huge. This study presents a general model for understanding the natural language in human-robot interaction by applying Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) language models as a service in the Internet of Things. Thus, the physical presence of the robot can help in fine-tuning the GPT model by prompts derived from the environmental context and subsequent robot actions for embodiment understanding of the GPT outputs. The model uses web or cloud services for Natural Language Processing (NLP) to produce and play human-like text, question answering or text generation. Verbal questions are processed either via a local speech recognition software or via a Speech-to-Text (STT) cloud service. The converted question into machine-readable code is sent to one of the GPT language models with zero- or few-shot learning prompts. GPT-J model has been tested and deployed either in the web or cloud with options for varying the parameters for controlling the haphazardness of the generated text. The robot produces human-like text by using Text-to-Speech (TTS) cloud services that convert the response into audio format rendered on the robot to be played. Useful requirements how the model to be used in order to be feasible were determined based on the evaluation of the outputs given from the different NLP and GPT-J web or cloud-services. We designed and implemented the model in order to be used by a humanoid NAO-type robot in the speech language therapy practice, however it can be used for other open-source and programmable robots and in different contexts

Correlation between ST-elevation myocardial infarction, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction and the local Earth’s magnetic field changes
Stronger oscillations in the local Earth magnetic field may have an impact on the course of ischemic heart disease. This effect is individual for every person and depends on the sex, age, living territory, season, capability to adjust to magnetic field fluctuations and health status. Individuals who already have cardiovascular disease are more sensitive to magnetic field fluctuations, therefore further research is needed to make conclusions. Aim: To identify correlations between changes in local Earth magnetic field frequencies and patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) cases per week, cases by sex per week and patients’ blood laboratory parameters (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and Troponin I level). Methods: A retrospective study of 1667 patients, who were admitted to the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics between 1st January and 31st December 2019 due to acute coronary syndrome (STEMI and NSTEMI), were included in the study. Local Earth's time varying magnetic field (TVMF) was measured by a magnetometer located in Baisogala, Lithuania. Data from the magnetometer was collected daily, and weekly averaged. We assessed the correlations between average weekly geomagnetic field strength in six different frequency ranges (Hz) and average number of STEMI and NSTEMI cases per week, cases by sex per week and patients’ blood laboratory parameters (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and Troponin I level). Results: The presence of a stronger magnetic field in the frequency range of 32-65 Hz was significantly related to the number of cases in the STEMI group during the winter season (r= 0.583, p= 0.036). Tendency towards a positive correlation was found during the winter in the men's group with STEMI in the high frequency range of 32-65 Hz. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level correlated positively in the winter STEMI group with the magnetic field in the 32-65 Hz range, and in the autumn STEMI group with the magnetic field in the frequency range of 0-7 Hz. Conclusion: Increased geomagnetic field strength in the high frequency range of 32-65 Hz is associated with a higher number of cases in the STEMI group

Experiment and analysis of active vibration isolation system based on rigid pedestal using SDOF actuator
This paper is about the active-passive isolation system based on single degree of freedom electromagnetic actuator and focuses on different control effect of different measure points. In view of this problem, the authors analyze the vibration characteristics of the active and passive vibration isolation systems of electromagnetic airbags under single and multi-vibration isolators. Then they decompose the rigid pedestal vibration into two orthogonal components, the vertical translation and the fix axis rotation. After that compare simulation and experiment results in terms of the control effect when the single active-passive isolator location varies. Finally, the authors draw a conclusion about the reason why the rigid pedestal vibration can be globally controlled by arranging more than 3 active-passive isolations and design a multiple isolator system experiment to verify
