    Tests of selected anti-vibration gloves available on the Polish market

    The authors of the paper conducted tests of anti-vibration gloves available on the market (17 types) in accordance with the methodology of the EN ISO 10819: 2013 standard. The main purpose of these studies was to verify the data provided by manufacturers in product specifications and user manuals. Based on the determined values of the vibration transmissibility coefficients, it was found that, despite the certificates held by all the tested gloves, as many as 6 types do not meet the minimum requirements for anti-vibration gloves, and two types achieve properties on the verge of meeting these requirements. Two types of gloves (despite the certificate) did not show any significant vibration damping in the whole tested frequency range. The obtained test results indicate the need to verify the anti-vibration properties of the available certified gloves from unverified suppliers. It also seems necessary to assess the effectiveness of protection of anti-vibration gloves in the conditions of their actual use

    Dynamical characteristics and vibration behavior of the novel composite dry separator

    At present, the composite dry separation technology is a successful technology in coal gangue discharge. In this paper, the mechanical structure of the novel composite dry separator (NCDS) was revealed, and the dynamic characteristics and vibration behaviors of the separator were deeply discussed by combining theoretical modeling and experimental testing methods. The dynamic mechanics mathematical model of the NCDS was established. The dynamic experiment of the separator was carried out by using the vibration testing system to reveal the space-time characteristics of the NCDS and compared with the theoretical results. The results show that the error between experimental data and theoretical data is less than 6.78 %. This work should be useful for optimal design and efficient operation of the composite dry separator

    Bifurcation analysis of fractional duffing system based on improved short memory principle method

    In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of fractional Duffing system are analyzed and studied by using the improved short memory principle method. This method has small amount of calculation and high precision, and can effectively improve the problem of large amount of calculation caused by the memory of fractional order. The influence of frequency change on the dynamic performance of the fractional Duffing system is studied using nonlinear dynamic analysis methods, such as Phase Portrait, Poincare Map and Bifurcation Diagram. Moreover, the dynamic behaviour of the fractional Duffing system when the fractional order and excitation amplitude changes are investigated. The analysis shows that when the excitation frequency changes from 0.43 to 1.22, the bifurcation diagram contains four periodic and three chaotic motion regions. Periodic motion windows are found in the three chaotic motion regions. It is confirmed that the frequency and amplitude of the external excitation and the fractional order of damping have a greater impact on system dynamics. Thus, attention shall be paid to the design and analysis of system dynamics

    Simulation test of transformer short-circuit impedance based on equivalent model at different frequencies

    A distribution transformer is one of the most important equipments in the power grid, and its operational status is directly related to the security and stability of the entire power system. The performance of transformer windings determines the service life of the transformer. It is of great significance to evaluate the performance of transformer windings accurately, reliably, and effectively after the short-circuit test of the transformer. Aiming at the problem that the natural vibration frequency of the transformer measured before and after the short circuit may not be the same under the impact of the short circuit of the transformer, this paper puts forward the evaluation method for the performance evaluation of the winding of the transformer after the short circuit test and adopts the method of combining the analytic hierarchy process with the fuzzy evaluation method to quantitatively obtain the score for the performance evaluation of the winding. And that evaluation language is given according to the score. Finally, the evaluation of the transformer winding performance after the short-circuit test is realized. The evaluation results show that this method can effectively get the performance index of the transformer winding, without the need for hanging cover inspection, and solve the subjectivity of human eye observation to objectively, accurately, and quantitatively describe the performance state of the transformer winding. The method is favorable for power grid monitoring and maintenance personnel to accurately evaluate the operation stability of the transformer and has very positive significance for improving the short-circuit impact resistance of the transformer and ensuring the safety and stability of the operation of a power system

    Höegh LNG and Altera Infrastructure is scaling up large scale CCS infrastructure

    In a joint initiative, called “Stella Maris CCS” Altera Infrastructure and Höegh LNG are working together to provide cost efficient floating Carbon Capture and Storage infrastructure solutions for a global market, not limited to size or geographical location. Valuable infrastructure experience is brought together; with FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) and Dynamically Positioned Shuttle Tankers from Altera and FSRU’s (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) from Höegh. We intend to continue to build on our heritage and experience, using our combined skills to contribute to carbon emission reduction around globe. With the “Stella Maris CCS” project, we will essentially be doing what we are doing today, only in reverse. Our solution, initiated in 2019 as the first of its kind, will offer a large-scale floating infrastructure for collection, transport, and injection of CO2 into subsea reservoirs/aquifers. Our infrastructure concept consists of 2-3 Carbon Collection Storage Units (CCSU) to aggregate volumes at different key locations, 3-4 CO2 Shuttle Carriers and one Floating Storage and Injection Unit, the total amount of CO2 injected with these assets can reach up to 10 million tons per year. In order to realize large scale CCS, the unit costs must come down, and the barriers for emitting industries to invest in capture plants must be lowered. With Stella Maris we are addressing these hurdles. The larger ship design enables carrying volumes of CO2 at low pressure and will allow for greater economies of scale in the absence of a pipeline which places less limitations on distance to reservoir and ultimate flow capacity. Having a centralized conditioning of CO2 in a CCSO hub allows more flexibility for on-site capture design from multiple onshore industrial emission sources with shared port access. To defray high logistics cost in e.g. the Baltic region, a hub and spoke transportation approach enables collection in smaller parcels, milk-run gathering and conditioning for large scale transfer for storage in an offshore subsea reservoir on the Norwegian Continental shelf

    Dynamic modeling and analysis of elastic isolation damping gears

    Transmission error is the main excitation source of gear vibration and noise, how to reduce the transmission error has always been the focus of the research on gear dynamics. In this study, a new type of cylindrical spur gear with elastic isolation is developed for the reduction of transmission error. The elastic isolation damping gear includes three parts: the gear body, the elastic isolation layer, and the involute profile body. Dynamic models are established with the elastic isolation damping gear using lumped parameter method. Dynamic characteristics are simulated via spur gear pair examples by the Runge-Kutta algorithm. By comparing the simulation results of three gear models, the dynamic response of the elastic isolation damping gear with sliding friction is illustrated. The influence of different parameters of the elastic isolation layer on the dynamic response for the elastic isolation damping gear model is carried out. The results indicate that the proposed elastic isolation damping gear model is effective in reducing dynamic transmission error, especially for torque fluctuation, high-speed and heavy-duty conditions. Parameter influence analysis guides the design of elastic isolation damping gears with low transmission error

    A comparative analysis of different approaches used for modelling and solving differential equations in Simulink/MATLAB

    In the paper, two new methods are developed and examined to implement a transfer function based approach in solving differential equations with Non-Zero initial conditions. A significant amount of time and effort is needed for solving differential equations theoretically or manually. Also, the obtained mathematical solutions to equations that represent various dynamic systems provide no graphical picture of the result. Using Simulink/MATLAB for modeling differential equations make the task of analyzing the behavior of systems easy and quick for the user. Beside, symbolic solutions and visual plots/graphs of the simulated results can be easily obtained and analyzed. Simulink uses different approaches to model a dynamic system such as differential equations in time domain (integrators based) or transfer function based and state space based. The paper addresses and compares different approaches used in Simulink for implementing block diagram based mathematical models of differential equations with non-zero initial conditions. Customarily, a transfer function based approach is used for analyzing systems with zero initial conditions. The paper demonstrated how to use a transfer function based approach for solving differential equations with non-zero initial conditions and two ways are devised to successfully implement the approach. To conclude, dynamic behavior of circuit and systems is analyzed and examined by obtaining graphical solutions with different approaches for chosen system parameters

    On the use of a network of trunk pipelines to compensate for the shortage of water resources at the expense of the country’s deep Siberian rivers

    The paper discusses topical issues and problems of water supply in scarce and arid regions of the country, including the redistribution of water flows from high-flowing Siberian rivers, which are heavily overflowing during the flood period. In particular, an overview of world experience in solving water supply problems is given, both through desalination of sea water and the use of underground sources, and through the construction of canals and main water pipelines, from futuristic ideas to projects that have already been implemented and have many years of positive operating experience. Special attention is paid to the domestic union experience, plans to turn large rivers to supply the Central Asian republics, the world’s first nuclear plants for desalination of sea water and a main water conduit to supply the Mangyshlak Peninsula. Based on the results of the analysis performed, the main disadvantages, areas, limitations and advantages of various water supply options are identified, which make it possible to draw a conclusion about the possibility of involving unclaimed capacities of main oil and gas pipelines to solve the problems of compensating for the shortage of water resources at the expense of the country's deep Siberian rivers

    MPF based symmetric cipher performance comparison to AES and TDES

    This paper presents a performance comparison of newly created matrix power function (MPF) based symmetric cipher realized in cipher-block chaining mode (CBC) with two other standardized ciphers namely AES-128 and triple DES. The encryption rate is compared using 64 bits arithmetic operations. It is shown that the proposed cipher has a significant advantage against compared ciphers. It is achieved by consuming more memory for MPF realization. Mentioned ciphers are compared using the central processing unit (CPU) the number of clock cycles required to encrypt fixed size plaintexts. This paper also includes a comparison of a number of operations required to encrypt plaintext as well as memory requirements for each of the ciphers with pre-determined parameters. The main difference between symmetric cipher based on MPF and other standardized ciphers mentioned in the paper is the ability to work with larger matrix entries in comparison to other algorithms as well as availability to parallelize the process of encrypting a single block

    “The tonic’s not always in a bottle”: a qualitative study investigating a heart rate variability biofeedback coherence intervention for individuals with gastrointestinal disorders

    Gastrointestinal disorders (GID) affect psychological and physical health and can be impacted by stress and ability to self-regulate emotions. The aim of this study was to gain an in-depth understanding of individuals with GID experiences of a Heart Rate Variability biofeedback (HRV-BF) coherence intervention. Six patients, who had already been diagnosed with GID, were interviewed using a semi-structured interview schedule to investigate how engaging in an HRV-BF coherence intervention affected their levels of stress and their GID condition. All transcripts were explored using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Analysis of the accounts indicated four superordinate themes: (1) Autonomy, (2) Self-regulation, (3) Acceptance, (4) Mind-Body-Spirit. The field of HRV-BF interventions in the area of gastroenterology is promising. However, it is recommended that further studies involving psycho-physiological interventions, with mixed-method designs and larger samples, are undertaken
