    Get PDF
In order to study the polishing quality of abrasive flow, The FLUENT15.0 software is used as the platform, taking the way that LES (Large-eddy simulation) model is combined with the Mixture model, the numerical simulation of Grain Flow Processing was carried out by regarding the servo valve nozzle as the research object. The results turn out that with the increase of the inlet speed, the flow state of the abrasive flow is more disorderly, and there is a dramatically improvement in dynamic pressure, which indicates that the collision and friction between the abrasive grains and the wall is more intense. In addition, the vortices and turbulence are more apparent, which are conducive to improving the polishing efficiency of abrasive flow so that achieve precision machining

Vibration-based damage detection in beams by genetic algorithm encoding locations and damage factors as decision variables

    Get PDF
Vibration-based damage detection is based on the fact that vibration characteristics such as natural frequencies and mode shapes of structures are changed when the damage is happened. The vibration-based damage detection of a beam is formulated as a single-objective optimization problem in which genetic algorithm (GA) is used as the optimizer. This paper presents the encoding by locations and damage factor (ELD) which employs location and damage amount as the decision variables. The proposed encoding can reduce the number of decision variables that used in the previous encoding, the encoding by damage factor of each element (EDE). The search space of GA with ELD is then smaller than that of GA with EDE. The simulation results reveal that GA with ELD can identify the damage occurred in the beam more correctly than GA with EDE. Moreover, the damage predicted by GA with ELD is quite close to the actual damage for all 3 test cases

    Get PDF
In order to achieve the non-stationary de-noising signal effectively, and to solve the prediction of less sample, a hybrid model composed of FCCA (Fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm) and FOM (Fractional Order Model) was constructed. The degree of each data point was determined by FCCA to de-noise and the p order cumulative matrix was extended to r fractional cumulative matrix, so that the fractional order cumulative grey model was established to make forecasting. The results of numerical example showed that the hybrid model can obtain better prediction accuracy

    Get PDF
In the numerical investigation of vibration problems with dry friction it is accepted to use some type of approximation to this phenomenon. Often linear variation of the force of friction in a region around zero velocity is assumed. In this paper trigonometric variation is proposed and comparison of numerical results is performed. From the presented results higher precision of this approximation is observed

Numerical simulation of the relationship between underwater jets oscillation and shock wave

    Get PDF
In order to study the relationship between an underwater shock wave and jet thrust oscillation, a simulation model of underwater jet is established. As per a numerical calculation based on the SST (Shear Stress Transport), and VOF (Volume of Fluid) models, the flow speed of jet gas has been changed with the pressure ratio. When the jet speed becomes supersonic, its corresponding shock structure will occur. When the pressure ratio is small, the shock wave structure in the nozzle is normal, and in case of an increase of the jet speed, the jet is moving from the nozzle inside to the outside. When the pressure ratio reaches a certain number, the shock is out of nozzle, and the nozzle is operating in an over-expansion state, the thrust oscillation amplitude is high. When the pressure ratio is large, and the nozzle is operating in the under-expanded state, then the structure of shock wave is very complex, jet back-attack no longer appears, and the thrust amplitude is rather smaller than the over-expanded one. Two kinds of situations are compared. And the comparison revealed that the highly under-expanded state is more conducive to the stability of the underwater vehicle, which can provide a reference for the corresponding design

Numerical investigation on aerodynamic noises of the lateral window in vehicles

    Get PDF
The paper firstly conducted a numerical simulation for flow fields and aerodynamic noises of the lateral window region in vehicles, and verified its correctness using the experimental test. Numerical simulation shows that: A pillar has a complicated shape and large corner, so that airflows will be separated here. An eddy structure is caused in the lateral window region and develops along the A pillar to generate serious pressure pulsations. A low pressure region is formed behind the A pillar. Obvious airflow separation regions are in the A pillar, rear view mirrors, wheels and wheel chambers. These airflow separation regions are typical positions causing aerodynamic noises. Additionally, large separated regions are located at the tail part of the vehicle, which is a main reason for causing the aerodynamic resistance. Intensity and velocity of eddies near the lateral window surface are relatively large, while its intensity near edges of the rear view mirror is weak. The shape of eddies extends along the flow direction to be an oval shape. The separated and broken eddies are sources for causing pressure pulsations. According to sound pressures of observation points, it can be also found that the separated eddy is a main reason for causing aerodynamic noises. Sound pressures are low at the right upper corner of lateral windows. In addition, noise distributions on the lateral window become gradually uniform with the increased frequency. In order to reduce flow noises, a bionic saw-tooth structure is applied to A pillars and rear view mirrors. After the bionic structure is introduced, some fluids are adhered to A pillars and rear view mirrors, so that the energy of fluids reaching the lateral window is reduced. In addition, fluids in rear regions of the rear view mirror presented a spiral shape, so that the possibility of fluid diffusion will be also reduced. In the original model, the maximum energy is 57.77, while that in this region with the bionic saw-tooth structures is 55.00. Obviously, the eddy energy is weakened. Compared with the original model, flow noises of all the observation points are reduced to different degrees, and the noise reduction effect is obvious. The results fully prove that this region with bionic saw-teeth in this paper has obvious advantages in noise reduction

Lifting load monitoring of mine hoist through vibration signal analysis with variational mode decomposition

    Get PDF
Mine hoists play a crucial role in vertical-shaft transportation, and one of the main causes of their faults is abnormal lifting load. However, direct measurement of the load value is difficult. Further, the original structure must be destroyed for sensor installation. To facilitate efficient and accurate monitoring of the lifting load of mine hoist, this paper presents a novel condition-monitoring method based on variational mode decomposition (VMD) and support vector machine (SVM) through vibration signal analysis. First, traditional empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is used to analyze the vibration signal collected by an acceleration sensor, and the number of obtained intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) is employed to set the VMD mode number. Second, the obtained vibration signal is processed by the parameterized VMD, and the useful IMFs of VMD are selected through correlation analysis for feature extraction. Third, the obtained features are used to train an SVM model, and the trained SVM is used to monitor the mine-hoist lifting load. In this study, experiments on an operated mine hoist are also conducted to verify the reliability and validity of the proposed method. The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately identify the considered lifting load conditions

Nonlinear dynamic analysis on maglev train system with flexible guideway and double time-delay feedback control

    Get PDF
In this paper, the dynamic behavior of time-delayed feedback control for maglev train system with double discrete time delays is considered with flexible guideway. Considering the maglev guideway as Beroulli-Euler beam, the mathematical model of maglev system with flexible guideway is constructed. The time delay of the two state feedback signals in the maglev system occurs simultaneously, and the values are different. The present treatment method only considers one single feedback delay, which are insufficiency. Thus, the Hopf bifurcation with double time-delay feedback of maglev train running on the flexible guideway is analyzed considering time-delayed position feedback signal τ1 and velocity feedback signal τ2. A novel method is presented to develop the double-parametric Hopf bifurcation diagram in relation to τ1 and τ2. Sufficient numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the complex dynamical behavior of the discrete delays τ1 and τ2 for maglev system and we verify the obtained theoretical analysis. Finally, the field experiments are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the Hopf bifurcation analytical method preliminarily
