Analysis of fault coupling vibration and transmission characteristics of multistage gear transmission system

    Get PDF
In multi-stage gear transmission system, the accident is often not caused by a single fault, but by coupling fault. The decoupling and identification of coupling faults has always been a hot topic. Through the analysis of frequency characteristics and transmission characteristics, this paper explored the correlation of coupling faults in multistage gear transmission system, and analyzed the coupling mechanism of faults. According to the fault test-bed, a 3D model was built to analyze the contact force and vibration characteristics of gears at all stages. STFT and waterfall diagram were used to analyze the coupling correlation characteristics of experimental signals under two single faults and coupling faults: fixed-axis gear crack and planetary gear wear. The contact force transfer function of all stages of gears to the box was built by using the system identification theory. The source of the fault characteristic frequency component was found through the transfer function, and the transmission characteristic of the fault was revealed. It can be seen from the results that the fault coupling is not the superposition of frequency characteristics. In the coupled signal, the frequency characteristic with the largest amplitude increase is not the fault gear itself, but the intermediate gear connected with them and affected by them. This phenomenon is often misled and misjudged in the analysis

Study on the extraction method of the friction-induced vibration signal of rotary compressors

    Get PDF
The operation noise level of air conditioners has been a main concern to consumers. The friction-induced vibration and noise have a contribution to the overall operation noise level of air conditioners. In this paper, two rotary compressors were tested to measure the vibration and noise of the compressors. The friction-induced vibration signals were extracted using a combination of the harmonic wavelet transform and the envelope spectrum analysis. The two rotary compressors were disassembled to check whether the compressor parts have been worn after testing. Results show that when the crankshaft was worn, the friction-induced vibration of compressors is strong. At low rotational speeds of the rotary compressor, the friction-induced vibration is easily excited, which is probably attributed to the boundary lubrication at the interface between the crankshaft and bearing. At high rotational speeds of the rotary compressor, the friction-induced vibration is not easy to be excited, which is probably attributed to the aerodynamic lubrication at the interface between the crankshaft and bearing

Experimental and numerical analysis for improving the suction capacity of the manufactured water jet ejectors

    Get PDF
Water jet ejectors are the silent pumping fluid devices which doesn’t have any rotating parts in functional industrial applications. The dimensionless geometrical parameters effects ejector suction capacity. In this study, it is found that optimum design intervals have been determined by using the Response Surface Method (RSM). Design ranges determined in the dimensionless study have been used in the improvement of the suction capacity of an existing ejector. The suction capacity of the existing ejector is investigated via numerical and experimental analysis. Two new water jet ejector designs (D1 and D2) are built to improve the suction capacity of the initial water jet ejector (D0). The generated design parameters have been analyzed by using SolidWorks flow analysis and optimization software. The suction capacity of the ejector has been determined through the iterative numerical analysis for the selected geometrical parameters under the applied design conditions. The effect of design parameters on the suction capacity of the water jet ejectors is unveiled through numerical and experimental analysis. The established designs were produced as two novel bronze water jet ejectors. The suction capacities of the produced bronze water jet ejectors have been investigated experimentally. The numerical results have been validated using the experimental results. It is achieved that the suction capacity of the manufactured water jet ejector with the improved design (D2) is suddenly increased from 52.05 m3/h to 103.4 m3/h

TDOA positioning in the presence of atmospheric refraction and observer uncertainty influence analysis and correction

    Get PDF
Due to the inhomogeneity of the atmosphere, radio waves are subjected to refraction during the propagation process, which reduces its propagation speed and bends the propagation path. If the influence is not considered, a large error will be caused by using time difference of arrival (TDOA). The influence of atmospheric refraction on the TDOA localization under the known elevation constraint is analyzed, a subsection iterative method is proposed to correct the localization error caused by atmospheric refraction, the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for location estimation under atmospheric refraction is deduced. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through simulation results and analysis

Analysis of vibration characteristics of rotating parallel flexible manipulator considering joint elastic constraints

    Get PDF
The bolt joint is the key component connecting the rigid moving base body and the flexible manipulator. The dynamic characteristics of the flexible manipulator under the elastic constraint of the joint are analyzed, and the action mechanism of the elastic constraint of the bolt joint on the frequency and vibration mode is revealed. Considering the effects of line constraint and torsion constraint, the elastic constraint model of the joint is established. Based on the principle of virtual work, the boundary constraints of the joint end and the free end are established, and the analytical equation of frequency and the expression of vibration mode function are derived. The first three frequencies and vibration mode characteristics of the flexible manipulator under elastic constraints are analyzed numerically. The sensitivity method is used to analyze the effect of linear constraints and torsional constraints on the frequency, and the elastic constraint region is established to characterize the functional relationship between the binding stiffness and the natural frequency. It is found that under elastic constraints, the influence of torsional stiffness of bolt joint is mainly concentrated in the low-order modal frequency, while the linear stiffness has a great influence on each order modal frequency of the manipulator; With the decrease of elastic constraint stiffness, its influence on modal shapes gradually increases, especially on high-order modal shapes. The research results prove the internal mechanism of the influence of elastic constraints on vibration characteristics, which provide a theoretical basis for improving the dynamic characteristics of flexible manipulator

Measurement of natural frequency and mechanical damping of thin brass diaphragm by pulsed laser generated vibrations

    Get PDF
Damped harmonic oscillator model based fitting of nanosecond pulsed laser induced amplitude variations of clamped vibrating circular plate is used to estimate the mechanical damping and natural frequency of the sample in current work. Laser Pulses of 50 mJ energy, 20 ns duration, and focused at a spot of 4 mm diameter at the center of the circular thin brass sheet of 100 µm thickness is used to generate vibrations in the target. Quadrature Michelson interferometer (QMI) with CW laser focused on the opposite side of the target surface is used to measure the amplitude of vibrations. Variations of fringe frequencies are identified in the frequency domain. Finite element based numerical modal analyses are also performed in ANSYS Workbench for the verification of experimental results for the same geometry and materials. Experimental frequencies of vibrations are found to match nearly 2 percent of FEM modes. Moreover, Elastic parameters are also found using the first two mode frequencies and a reasonable agreement is observed while comparing with the elastic parameter data of brass. Current work in itself is a unique attempt of getting mechanical parameters for the determination of elastic parameters in a single laser pulse impulse excited measurement for thin clamped targets

Application of distance field-based algorithm to adjacent spline surfaces for composite structures boundary modeling

    Get PDF
The complex boundary modeling required for simulating composite materials was applied to a broad range of problems, including surface overlap and gap. A novel method for the simultaneous fitting of adjacent spline surfaces based on a distance field has been devised. The fitting method for spline surfaces was constructed using offline spline surface, facet simplification, and residual solid reconstruction. The distance field-based approach of simultaneous fitting of neighboring spline surfaces included producing a distance field for a spline surface and then applying that distance field to nearby spline surfaces. There would be junction and separation issues if neighboring spline surfaces were fitted individually. By simultaneously fitting the nearby spline surfaces with the aid of the equivalence surface of the distance field, it was feasible to avoid overlap and gap

    Get PDF
In order to analyze the vibration characteristics of mistuned multistage bladed disks of an aero-engine compressor, a finite element reduction model of mistuned multistage bladed disks is established based on substructure modal synthesis method. The accuracy of the substructure model was verified by comparing calculation accuracy of the substructure model and the integral model. The influence of different modal truncation numbers on the calculation results are discussed. The vibration modes of each stage of the bladed disks are obtained, the forced response is analyzed from the perspective of strain energy. The result shows that modal truncation number, rotation softening effect, and speed have significant effects on the dynamic frequency calculation results of the multistage bladed disks. The typical mode shapes of the first 200 orders of multistage bladed disks are obtained. With the increase of mistuning standard deviation, the strain energy of multistage bladed disk system decreases gradually

    Get PDF
Aiming at the small piston engine carbon deposition fault in the process of running, based on the cylinder pressure and cylinder head vibration signal of the engine, a fault diagnosis method combining variational mode decomposition and support vector machine is used to diagnose the engine carbon deposition fault. Firstly, particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the variational mode decomposition. Then, the intrinsic mode function is obtained by processing the pressure signal and cylinder head vibration signal of the engine. Then, the singular spectrum entropy is calculated by singular value decomposition of the intrinsic mode function. Finally, the singular spectrum entropy is input into the support vector machine classifier as the feature data set for training and testing. The results show that this method can identify the carbon deposition fault of the starting motor well, and the accuracy of fault identification and classification of cylinder pressure and cylinder head vibration signal is 98.33 % and 99.17 % respectively, which verifies the effectiveness of this method

Application of A* algorithm in intelligent vehicle path planning

    Get PDF
Path planning is one of the important directions in the field of intelligent vehicles research. Traditional path planning algorithms generally use Dijkstra algorithm, Breadth-First-Search (BFS) algorithm and A* algorithm. Dijkstra algorithm is a search-based algorithm, which can search to an optimal path, but the disadvantage is too many expansion nodes, which leads to insufficient search efficiency. BFS algorithm is a heuristic search algorithm, which reduces the disadvantage of too many expansion nodes and improves the search efficiency by heuristic function. A* algorithm is a heuristic search algorithm that combines Dijkstra’s algorithm and BFS algorithm, which has higher search efficiency and can search to an optimal path at the same time, but it is still lacking in the search mode and smoothness of the planned route. This paper first introduces the general path planning algorithm, then introduces and analyzes the A* algorithm, and proposes improvement measures for its shortcomings; finally, the executability and effectiveness of the improved algorithm are tested using simulation, and compared with the traditional A* algorithm, and the results show that the improved A* algorithm has good effect on path planning of intelligent vehicles
