Research on a double frame hydraulic press with PTS using winding steel wires
The desired preloading effect of a hydraulic press frame parts (upper/lower semi-circular beams and columns) with Pre-Tightening Stress (PTS) by means of Winding Steel Wires (WSW), which is directly related to the reliability and normal safe operation of the hydraulic press. The deformation of the Hydraulic Press Column (HPC) is an important indicator of the optimal preloading effect of the hydraulic press. As a technical bottleneck, the continuous cumulative deformation of a HPC under seven time-varying steps is critical issues especially in theoretically calculated for a 20 MN double-frame hydraulic press with PTS using WAW. A solid model with a PTS frame is pre-designed by 3D software, and two simulation methods, equivalent pressure loading and equivalent temperature loading, are used to simulate and analyze the continuous cumulative deformation of the HPC under each step in Ansys Workbench software. By comparing the deformation and error analysis in the three cases above, the feasibility of the two simulation methods is verified, which leads to the advantages and disadvantages of each method in order to guide the subsequent design
Experimental study on bulge deformation of geotextile under ring-restrained conditions
Geotextile layers are arranged on and below the geomembrane to prevent the geomembrane from being punctured and damaged. The geotextile not only plays a role in physical protection, like anti-puncture but also makes a great difference to the mechanical properties of the geomembrane’s air expansion deformation. In this paper, the bulging deformation of geotextile is simplified as spherical bulging deformation under ring-restrained conditions. Using the special bulging deformation test equipment, the bulging deformation experiment of geotextile is realized, the main factors affecting the bulging deformation are analyzed, the law of bulging deformation and failure of geotextile is summarized, the failure mechanism of geotextile and the Influence of geotextile on the properties of geomembrane are discussed, and the following conclusions are drawn. The failure of bulging deformation of geotextiles belongs to tensile failure, which is characterized by fast speed and high strength. The typical failure mode is spindle-shaped cracks distributed along the crown, whose failure mechanism belongs to tensile failure produced in weak areas. The bulging deformation of the geotextile shows nonuniformity, with the largest deformation at the crown top and the smallest deformation at the ring constraint. When the geotextile is covered on the geomembrane, bulging pressure is shared by both the geomembrane and the geotextile. At the initial deformation stage, the geomembrane replaces it, and then the geotextile bears more internal pressure and plays a decisive role till destruction
Super resolution direction finding technique of vortex electromagnetic wave radar in missing mode
Vortex electromagnetic waves have superior performance over electromagnetic waves. In order to improve the radar super-resolution lateralization technique in its missing modes, this study proposes to start from the perspective of mode missing. The missing modes are reconstructed using the Adaptive Step Size Gradient Descent (ASSGD) method by exploiting the features of the missing modes. The linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) estimation method is also used to solve the problem of poor reconstruction accuracy due to the Missing Modes. The Missing Modes Iterative Adaptive Approach (MMIAA) algorithm and Missing Modes Sparse Learning via Iterative Minimization (MMSLIM) algorithm are then used. Minimization (MMSLIM) algorithm to recover missing modes. The results showed that the RMSEs of the recovery errors of MMSLIM, MMIAA and ASSGD were 0.16, 0.31 and 0.82 respectively at a modal missing ratio of 0.7, while ASSGD fails to recover the missing modal data at a modal missing ratio of 0.9. The overall data quality of the azimuthally estimated RMSE was average when the signal-to-noise ratio was at [–5, 10] dB. And the curve becomes flatter when it reaches 15 dB or more, indicating that MMSLIM, MMIAA has important theoretical and practical value
A third-order shear deformation plate bending formulation for thick plates: first principles derivation and applications
A third-order shear deformation plate bending formulation is presented in this study from the first principles. The derivation assumed a displacement field constructed using third-order polynomial function of the transverse (z) coordinate; and made to apriori satisfy the linear three-dimensional (3D) kinematics relations as well as the transverse shear stress free boundary conditions at the top and bottom plate surfaces. The formulation thus has no need for shear stress correction factors of the first-order shear deformation plate theories. The domain equations of equilibrium are obtained as a set of three coupled differential equations in terms of three unknown displacements. The system of coupled equations is solved for simply supported rectangular and square plates subjected to four cases of loading distributions: sinusoidal loading, uniformly distributed loading, linearly distributed loading and point load at the plate center. Navier’s double trigonometric series method is used to construct trial solutions for the three displacement functions such that the boundary conditions are satisfied identically. The integration problem is thus reduced to an algebraic problem and is solved for each considered loading. It is found that the present formulation gives exact results for the normal stresses σxx for sinusoidal and uniformly distributed loads. The study further showed that the results for deflection and stresses agreed with Krishna Murty’s higher order shear deformation plate theory results. The present formulation gave accurate results because of the inclusion of transverse normal strain effects in the formulation. The formulation gives a quadratic variation of the transverse shear stresses across the thickness in consonance with the theory of elasticity method
Application of machine learning algorithms in drug screening
At present, in the medical field, drug screening is usually performed using in vivo drug experiments. However, it is very time-consuming and laborious to conduct in vivo experiments on a large number of drugs to be screened one by one. This paper attempts to propose using machine learning algorithms to perform preliminary screening of a large number of compounds to be screened and their molecular structures to reduce the workload of in vivo experiments. Among them, it is internationally recognized that there is an important association between breast cancer progression and the alpha subtype of the estrogen receptor. Anti-breast cancer drug candidates with excellent efficacy need to contain compounds that can better antagonize ERα activity. In this paper, the research object is narrowed down from compounds to the molecular structure of the compounds, and then the random forest regression algorithm is used to develop the molecular structure-ERα activity prediction model. Molecular structures with significant effects on biological activity were screened from molecular structure descriptors in numerous compounds. Four different kernel functions were used to conduct comparative experiments, and finally a support vector regression algorithm based on radial basis kernel function was established, which realized the quantitative prediction of compounds on biological activity of ERα, and could find potential compounds beneficial to breast cancer treatment. This is a novel, computer-based method for preliminary drug screening, which can help medical researchers effectively narrow the scope of experiments and achieve more accurate optimization of drugs
Lithuania’s geo-energy landscape: a brief overview of CCUS, hydrogen, and geothermal
Lithuanian energy landscape is changing because of a strong push to reduce carbon emissions and reliance of fossil-based energy production. EU climate directive promotes investments into carbon capture and storage technologies along with renewable energy resource development. CCUS, hydrogen and geothermal are some technologies which could promote reduction in carbon emissions and along with reducing dependence on fossil-based energy sources. Lithuania already has large potential for carbon and hydrogen storage and in past had a working geothermal power plant for district heating. In this work we revisit the carbon storage potential in Lithuania subsurface and provide a high-level estimate of potential of generating hydrogen energy from depleted hydrocarbon fields using in-situ methods. We also evaluate the prospects of development of geothermal energy production from deep Cambrian reservoirs where temperature above 85 °C has been documented
Experimental study and comparative analysis of pitting fault in spur gear system
This paper uses a dynamic six-degree-of-freedom model that considers torsional and lateral motions to predict the impact of pitting on vibration parameters in a spur gearbox for various operating speeds and torque loads. The study examines the dynamic characteristics of a gearbox with localized pitting damage on a single gear tooth using theoretical and experimental approaches. The research analyzes the forced vibrations of a single-stage spur gear system with pitting damage, which includes variations in mesh stiffness, damping, and gear error excitation, to identify symptoms of default. The equation of motion for the rotary gearbox system is established using the Lagrangian method in tandem with Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and frequency-RPM map fault diagnosis. During real-time vibration monitoring, vibration signals are captured via accelerometers and processed in both the time and frequency domains using the LabVIEW data acquisition signal processing package to extract diagnostic information. The experimental findings demonstrate how vibration analysis combined with time-frequency processing can recognize machine conditions even in harsh operational conditions. Moreover, the experimental results indicate a significant similarity with the theoretical analysis and validate the effectiveness of the RPM frequency technique-based pitting detection method, which can be an asset in gear fault monitoring
A mathematical model and microcontroller-based method for measuring dielectric permittivity and discharge characteristics with Arduino ATmega 328: a case study in a physics laboratory
A microcontroller-based measuring instrument and a new mathematical model are used to investigate capacitor permittivity and dielectric materials' charge-discharge characteristics. In this study, a prototype capacitive permittivity measurement apparatus for dielectric materials was carefully developed using an Arduino microcontroller, a resistor, and a capacitor. The experimental setup comprises a capacitor-resistor circuit, wherein a 5-volt power supply sourced from the microcontroller interfaces with a computer. During the charging process, a comprehensive evaluation of model-data alignment was performed, yielding values of 0.54252156, 0.9951, and 111.2508701 for the sum of squares error (SSE), the coefficient of determination (R-squared), and the sum of squares total (SST), respectively. Similarly, the analysis extended to the discharging process, unveiling values of 5.10174756, 0.962805684, and 137.1647082 for SSE, R-squared, and SST, respectively. These findings confirm the accuracy of the microcontroller that was programmed by incorporating a model in precisely measuring the relative permittivity of dielectric materials and capacitance values, with an R-squared value above 0.95 following capacitor literature benchmarks. The novelty of this study is that this configuration enabled the precise assessment of both permittivity and the charge-discharge characteristics of the dielectric materials within the capacitor. This methodology made it possible to accurately measure the permittivity and charge-discharge characteristics of dielectric materials within a capacitor. The scientific significance of this research lies in its ability to provide a carefully developed instrument capable of investigating the permittivity of dielectric materials and capacitor capacitance measurements. Scholars, international engineering communities, and academics can use this technological breakthrough to advance research into dielectric material properties and capacitor characteristics
Research on lightweight pedestrian detection based on improved YOLOv5
Aiming at the problems of low detection accuracy and the large size of the pedestrian detection algorithm, to improve the edge intelligent recognition capability of the terminal, this paper proposes a lightweight pedestrian detection scheme based on the improved YOLOv5. In this paper, the algorithm first takes the original YOLOv5 as the basic framework and uses the Ghost Bottleneck module to replace the C3 module in the original YOLOv5 network to reduce the number of parameters, eliminate redundant features, and obtain a more lightweight model. Then the attention mechanism CBAM module is added to improve the feature extraction capability and detection accuracy of the algorithm. After experimental verification, the improved lightweight YOLOv5 algorithm significantly reduces the model size and computational cost while guaranteeing accuracy, which is suitable for deployment in edge devices
Experimental study on the rheological characteristics and viscosity-enhanced factors of super-viscous heavy oil
To reveal the viscosity-enhanced mechanism of super-viscous heavy oil and improve the recovery rate of super-viscous heavy oil, the four components, elemental composition, rheological properties, and effects of asphaltenes and resin on the viscosity of super-viscous heavy oil from well TH12434 in Tahe Oilfield, China have been analyzed from macro and microscopic perspectives by Anton Paar rotational rheometer, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and scanning cryo-EM to solve the problems of poor fluidity and high asphaltene content. The experimental results showed that in the temperature range of T= 40-100°C, the viscosity of super-viscous heavy oil decreases sharply from 352000 mPa∙s to 1620 mPa∙s, and the super-viscous heavy oil exhibits clear thermo-sensitivity. With T= 100°C and shear rate ranging from γ= 0-800 s-1, the viscosity of super-viscous heavy oil decreases sharply from 45000 mPa∙s to 956 mPa∙s, and the oil sample shows typical pseudoplasticity. The baseline of super-viscous heavy oil analysis by gas chromatography shows too high, and more than 80 % of super-viscous heavy oil compounds have a matching degree of less than 70 % with standard compounds, indicating that the super-viscous heavy oil had poor heterogeneity and many impurities. It is observed by scanning cryo-EM that the micromorphology of super-viscous heavy oil is large granular, strong continuity, asphaltene micromorphology presents an obvious layered structure, the layer spacing is 637.7 nm, and its asphaltene molecules form an order-like or crystal-like association structure through several unit sheet layers, resulting in high viscosity of super-viscous heavy oil. Based on the analysis results of the influencing factors of the viscosity of super-viscous heavy oil, a theoretical basis for the selection of viscosity reduction technology for super-viscous heavy oil the efficient exploitation in Tahe Oilfield, China could be provided
