    Get PDF
In order to improve the vibration isolation performance of current three-parameter damper using bellow and fluid damping, a concept of fluid damper with variable damping and secondary variable stiffness was proposed, a prototype has been designed with several frequency selective valves to adjust the damping characteristics at specific frequency bands, especially that in the low-frequency range. Followed mathematical modelling and simulation of the damper have been carried out, the results show that the designed damper has obtained excellent damping characteristics both in the high- and low-frequency ranges, the micro-vibration isolation efficiency of the damper under realistic excitation of a Control Moment Gyroscope used in a manned spacecraft reaches a significant 71.03 %.The proposed damper concept and designed prototype have laid the foundation for further testing and optimization of high-end isolators for modern spacecrafts

Study on vibration isolation design using elastomeric pads and its application

    Get PDF
The vibration mechanism of railways and urban rail transit is highly intricate, particularly within the railway environment. This study employs a variety of vertical stiffness damping pads to develop an integrated damping system for a floating slab. Through optimization of damper stiffness and arrangement, the modal characteristics of the floating slab are analyzed, resulting in a reduction of the inherent frequency of the track structure and attenuation of vibration transmission. Subsequently, this damping system is implemented in an actual engineering project to assess its effectiveness. The findings indicate that lower stiffness in the vibration isolation pad corresponds to a smaller inherent frequency for the floating slab, thereby enhancing its damping efficacy. Utilizing elastic supports for vibration isolation pads within the track structure can mitigate upper structure vibrations induced by trains

    Get PDF
In order to solve the problem that the reconstruction accuracy and integrity are affected due to the large amount of point cloud data in the process of building space reconstruction, the visual reconstruction method of building space under laser point cloud big data is studied. The three-dimensional laser scanner is used to collect the laser point cloud big data in the building space, and the laser point cloud big data is organized and processed through three steps: hierarchical calculation of the point cloud pyramid, thinning treatment and block treatment. From the processing results of laser point cloud big data, the line features of building space are extracted based on the improved Mean-shift method, and the continuous broken lines in the point cloud data of building space are extracted by using the double radius threshold line tracing method. According to the feature extraction results of point cloud data in building space, the visual reconstruction of building space is completed through the process of translation matching and space matching. The experimental results show that this method can realize the visual reconstruction of architectural space, and the average reconstruction accuracy is higher than that of 97 %, and the reconstruction completion and smoothness are higher than 95 %

Open-source hand prosthesis: evaluation of mechanical feasibility and additive manufacturing potential

    Get PDF
This study delves into the risks associated with 3D-printed hand prostheses lacking mechanical feasibility studies. Such unvalidated prostheses may exhibit various issues like durability shortcomings, anatomical incompatibility, functional safety concerns, manufacturing quality deficiencies, and health risks due to inappropriate materials. These issues can lead to damage or premature failure during use, discomfort, skin irritation, injuries, inability to withstand functional loads, and health hazards from toxic or allergenic substances. Therefore, ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of these prostheses is crucial. The study focuses on a mechanical feasibility study conducted through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations on an open-source hand prosthesis model. It evaluates mechanical properties, stress concentration areas, and displacement on the prosthesis surface. The methodology comprises three key steps: acquiring the virtual model, conducting computational simulations, and selecting the 3D printing material. The simulations assess the prosthesis’s ability to withstand compressive forces and identify stress concentration areas. Results from the study indicate that using PETG as the constituent material demonstrates mechanical viability and satisfactory performance under static force conditions. This finding underscores the importance of rigorous testing and adherence to standards in developing 3D-printed hand prostheses. Such studies contribute significantly to enhancing these devices’ safety and effectiveness, facilitating their broader adoption in healthcare settings. In summary, this study highlights the critical need for mechanical feasibility studies in the development of 3D-printed hand prostheses. It emphasizes the significance of following strict standards and regulations to ensure these devices’ safety, quality, and functionality. By doing so, it paves the way for the widespread use of these prostheses in healthcare, benefiting users and advancing the field of prosthetic technology

Adaptive robust control of electromagnetic actuators with friction nonlinearity and uncertainty compensation

    Get PDF
Friction nonlinearity and uncertainty are the main factors affecting the highly performance control of electromagnetic actuators. In this paper, a nonlinear adaptive robust control strategy is proposed of electromagnetic actuators with friction nonlinearity and uncertainty compensation. First, the dynamical model of the electromagnetic actuator is established considering nonlinearity and uncertainty. Then, an adaptive robust controller is designed based on the continuously differentiable friction model to ensure that the control input is continuously and bounded. In the design of the controller, the unfavorable effects of unknown parameters in the electromagnetic actuator are eliminated by constructing a parameter adaptive law. Meanwhile, in order to improve the tracking accuracy of the electromagnetic actuator, a nonlinear robust control law is designed to ensure the robustness of the controller. The stability analysis by Lyapunov function shows that the asymptotic tracking effect can be obtained when only parameter uncertainty exists in the closed-loop system of the electromagnetic actuator, and the consistent bounded stability can be ensured when the system also exists uncertain nonlinearity. Extensive comparative results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method

A bulk queue’s analysis with two-stage heterogeneous services, multiple vacations, closedown with server breakdown, and two types of renovation

    Get PDF
A queueing system with two stages of heterogeneous services, multiple vacations, and closedown upon server failure is considered in this study for MX/Ga,b data. Two different services must be provided to a group of customers one at a time. At time C, the server finishes its shut-down procedures following the conclusion of each SPS. A server that has a queue length shorter than a takes numerous, different-duration vacations. Upon returning from vacation, if the server detects that there are less than a customers in the queue, they will continue to serve the following batch if the server determines that there are at least a customers waiting for service. During the server’s first phase of operation, the service channels will momentarily fail with a probability of (π1) at any time, and during the server’s second phase of operation, the service channels will fail with a probability of (π2) at any time

Influence of the rough surface and speed of crankpin bearing on the power of the engine

    Get PDF
To fully evaluate the influence of the rough surface (σ) and speed (ω) of the crankpin bearing on the engine power, a combination model of the slider crank mechanism and crankpin bearing’s lubrication is established to calculate the mathematical equations for the simulation. Three indexes of the bearing-capacity (W), friction-force (F), and friction-coeficient (μ) are used to evaluate the influence of the change of the crankpin bearing’s speed and rough surface on the engine’s power. The study shows that increasing ω not only effectively reduces the load capacity of the crankpin bearing but also increases the F and μ in the engine’s crankpin bearing, thereby directly reducing the engine’s power. Besides, the reduction of ω also reduces the bearing-capacity of the crankpin bearing. To optimize the engine’s power, the engine’s speed should be maintained at 2000 r/min to improve the engine’s power. In addition, under the effect of the rough surface of the crankpin bearing, the W of the crankpin bearing is insignificantly affected by the change of the rough surface while both the F and μ are greatly affected. In particular, the maximum F at σ = 8 μm and σ = 10 μm is increased by 68.3 % and 77.7 % in comparison with the maximum F at minimum value of σ = 2 μm, respectively. Therefore, in the design of the engine, the rough surface of the crankpin bearing should be reduced to improve the engine’s power. Additionally, the design parameters of the crankpin bearings should also be optimized to further improve the engine’s power
