Cephalometric components and their implications in mandibular positioning

    Get PDF
The mandibular position is determined by several physiological factors, which should be considered for diagnosis, therapy and stability. Sixty-eight lateral skull radiographs were taken and plotted to determine the relationship of the occlusal plane with the mandibular position among others. A Spearman statistical analysis was performed to determine the relationship between these variables. The occlusal plane showed a statistically significant correlation with mandibular position

Diagnosis and analysis of electric power steering rattle noise based on multiple coherence method

    Get PDF
Electric power steering (EPS) system is becoming the primary source of Electric Vehicle (EV) noise due to absence of classic power train. The rattle noise produced by EPS, which is easily discernible when driving. Since the conventional subjective evaluation approach makes it difficult to identify the source, it is required to establish an objective way to solve such an issue. In this paper, the principle of multiple coherence method is first addressed analytically, and then is employed to analyze the vibration signal acquisition from EPS different points, meanwhile, combine with in-car sound signal, to accurately identify the specific location

Experimental study on stress wave propagation in jointed rock coupling the effect of JMC & JRC

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate how the rough joints effect the stress wave propagation through jointed rocks coupling the effect of the joint matching coefficient (JMC) and joint roughness coefficient (JRC). The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) apparatus was adopted to conduct uniaxial compression experiments on jointed specimens. The joint matching coefficient (JMC) and joint roughness coefficient (JRC) are introduced as morphology parameters to estimate joint roughness. Based on SHPB experiments, we found out that the joint matching coefficient (JMC) has a greater influence on the transmission and reflection coefficient than the joint roughness coefficient (JRC). Jointed specimens with lower JMC and JRC make less energy transmitted through it and have a smaller transmission coefficient and bigger reflection coefficients. Also, the joint with lower JMC and JRC has less initial stiffness and greater maximum closure

Study on treatment of loess subgrade disease by cement mixing pile

    Get PDF
Affected by the difference of geological conditions, the cause of settlement of road subgrade is different, and the concealment of subgrade disease is strong. If it is not timely maintenance, it will cause the further development of subgrade disease. A finite element model is established to study the settlement control technology by using cement mixing pile for collapsible loess. The results showed that when the loess is relatively shallow and the cement mixing pile penetrates the loess, the settlement and post-construction settlement of the foundation are small, which can be controlled within the limits of the specification. The cement content of mixing pile should be selected according to different regions, moisture content and other indicators. For the loess with particularly high moisture content and organic matter content, the cement content and construction technology should be determined by indoor and on-site test pile

Use of gas reduction energy at a gas distribution station

    Get PDF
The issue of utilization of excess energy of throttled natural gas is still relevant today. To solve it, various devices are used, based on such principles as on the Ranque-Hilsch vortex effect, temperature stratification using the Leontief tube, expander-generator sets and devices based on the Hartmann-Sprenger effect. One of the most common devices at gas distribution stations (gas gate station) is the turboexpander. The principle of its operation is based on the expansion of the gas flow with the performance of external mechanical work. Taking into account the increased interest in hydrogen fuel in connection with the course announced by the UN for decarbonization of production by 2050, the modern gas transmission system can become a secondary source of electricity for hydrogen production, thereby solving the problem of excess pressure energy utilization at gas distribution stations. The technological solution for using this energy is the installation of turboexpanders and electrolysis of water at gate stations in order to produce hydrogen

Deep learning method for visual question answering in the digital radiology domain

    Get PDF
Computer vision applications in the medical field are widespread, and language processing models have gained more and more interest as well. However, these two different tasks often go separately: disease or pathology detection is often based purely on image models, while for example patient notes are treated only from the natural language processing perspective. However, there is an important task between: given a medical image, describe what is inside it – organs, modality, pathology, location, and stage of the pathology, etc. This type of area falls into the so-called VQA area – Visual Question Answering. In this work, we concentrate on blending deep features extracted from image and language models into a single representation. A new method of feature fusion is proposed and shown to be superior in terms of accuracy compared to summation and concatenation methods. For the radiology image dataset VQA-2019 Med [1], the new method achieves 84.8 % compared to 82.2 % for other considered feature fusion methods. In addition to increased accuracy, the proposed model does not become more difficult to train as the number of unknown parameters does not increase, as compared with the simple addition operation for fusing features

Significance of fin tip temperature on the heat transfer rate and thermal efficiency of a convective-radiative rectangular fin with variable thermal conductivity

    Get PDF
In this work, effect of fin tip temperature on the rate of heat transfer and thermal efficiency of a rectangular convective-radiative fin with temperature-dependent thermal conductivity is analyzed using differential transformation method. The results of the power series solutions are verified numerically, and very good agreements are established. Also, the symbolic solutions are used to examine the effects of the conductive-convective and nonlinear thermal conductivity parameters on the thermal performance of the passive device. It is found that when the nonlinear thermal conductivity parameter increases, the fin tip temperature increases. However, the temperature at the tip of the fin decreases as the conductive-convective parameter increases. The thermal efficiency of the fin increases as the fin tip temperature and nonlinear thermal conductivity parameters are augmented but an increase conductive-convective parameter causes the fin tip temperature and the thermal efficiency of the extended surface to reduce. An increase in the conductive-convective parameter causes decrease the temperature distribution and thermal efficiency in the passive device. However, the efficiency of the fin increases as the nonlinear thermal conductivity parameter increases. When nonlinear thermal conductivity and conductive-convective parameters increase, the rate of heat transfer at the fin base increases. The developed analytical solutions provide a good platform for the nonlinear thermal analysis of the fin and proper design of the extended surfaces in thermal systems

Launchable rotary wing UAV designs and launch mechanism designs for rotary wing UAV

    Get PDF
In recent years, rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles have been used in many areas. Rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can carry different payloads according to their duties. For example; if they carry cameras, they are used for reconnaissance / surveillance, cargo if they carry cargo, agriculture if they carry pesticides, mapping if they carry an advanced camera and mapping system, and communication if they carry a base station or relay. Rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles are usually commanded to take off manually by a trained UAV operator. Before takeoff, the rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle is prepared for take-off by the UAV operator and this preparation takes approximately five minutes. It takes time for rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles to take off from the runway and reach their cruising speed, causing time loss in critical areas. A rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle launch assembly and a rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle with an opening mechanism that can open the thrust arms after launch and continue to fly can be the solution to this time loss. Rotary-wing drones capable of launching and without the intervention of the UAV operator will play an important role in emergency response and defense, where situational awareness is often required. For example; firefighters responding to fires can take advantage of the ability to quickly launch rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles from a stationary or moving fire truck. Thanks to the day / thermal camera on the launched rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicles, valuable information can be obtained about the progress of the fire and the damage caused by the fire. Thanks to rapid awareness, the fire can be intervened and fought faster. Similarly, military personnel can quickly deploy launchable rotary-wing drones for reconnaissance and surveillance and perform their duties. In order to be applicable to various types of missions, it is important that the rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicle be portable and low in volume. Since the launchable rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle proposed in the thesis has an arm release mechanism after launch, it can automatically open and generate thrust after launching its arms. In this way, it helps lower volume coverage before being launched. This also reduces air friction during launch. It can be deployed to autonomous systems effortlessly as it has closed package, mobile and self-arm management. Different mechanisms will be studied to create an efficient design. A mechanism that allows it to open its arms in a short time will be used in the self-arm-opening management design. Throwable rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicle and launch mechanism will be designed and 3D printers will be used for prototype

    Get PDF
The dynamic characteristics of planetary system directly affect the stable state of the whole transmission system. Firstly, an accurate dynamic model of planetary gear system is established by using bond graph method. Formerly, the state equation of the gear train dynamics is obtained based on the bond graph model. On this basis, the simulation model of the gear system was acquired by using the numerical simulation method, and four dynamic indexes including zero-pole diagram, Bode diagram, Nyquist diagram and Nichols diagram of the gear dynamics system were gained. Finally, the analysis results show that the accurate mathematical model is described by the bond graph method and the dynamic characteristics is comprehended of planetary gear system, while will provide a basis for the stability research of the transmission system
