Effect of in-wheel motor suspension system on electric vehicle ride comfort

    Get PDF
This paper presents the effect of in-wheel motor (IWM) suspension system on electric vehicle (EV) ride comfort. To analyze the impact on the vehicle ride comfort caused by IWM suspension system, a dynamic model of quarter vehicle is established with the combination of IWM and road surface roughness excitations. The weighted root-mean-square (r.m.s.) acceleration of the vertical vehicle body (awbz) according to the international standard ISO 2631-1 (1997) is selected as an objective function to analyze the effect of IWM suspension system when the road surface and IWM mass conditions change. The study results indicate that the effect of IWM suspension system on the EV ride quality is significant and the value of awbz reduces by 8.6 % in comparison to without IWM suspension system. The IWM suspension system has significantly improved the EV ride quality when the road surface and IWM mass conditions change

Source localization in reverberation environment based on improved equivalent sound source near-field acoustic holography algorithm

    Get PDF
The compressive-equivalent source method near-field acoustic holography (C-ESM) is disturbed by reverberation in the enclosed space such as room and cabin, which leads to large reconstruction error and disturbs the judgment of sound source position. In order to solve this problem, an improved C-ESM algorithm based on room impulse response (RIR) is proposed to filter out reverberation interference in this paper. Different from the original equivalent source method, the improved algorithm constructs the transfer function through the room impulse response to establish the relationship between the equivalent source and the sound pressure on any plane in space, and the sparse signal reconstruction method of the compressive sensing technology is used to obtain the strength of the equivalent source. Then the transfer function to any plane of space is established according to the free field Green’s function, to eliminate the interference of reverberation and improve the effect of sound source location. The accuracy and effectiveness of the improved method are verified by preliminary numerical simulation. And the results show that compared with the original algorithm, this method has obvious advantages in sound source localization in a reverberant field

A novel faults detection method for rolling bearing based on RCMDE and ISVM

    Get PDF
The rolling bearing is an essential element widely used in the rotating machinery. Bearing failures are among the main reasons for breakdown of rotating machinery. Therefore, fault detection of bearing is necessary to reduce the probability of breakdown and safety accidents. A novel fault diagnosis method for rolling bearing based on Refined Composite Multiscale Dispersion Entropy (RCMDE) and Improved Support Vector Machine (ISVM) is presented in this paper. The RCMDE is a new irregular index in biomedical signal analysis, which has lower computational cost and more stable results. Therefore, the RCMDE is introduced as fault feature to represent the bearing fault characteristics. After feature extraction, an improved support vector machine based on whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed as a fault classifier, which has the advantages of less training samples and good classification effect. The effectiveness of the proposed method in bearing fault diagnosis is verified by using bearing fault experimental data

Free vibration analysis of simply supported rectangular plates

    Get PDF
In this paper, numerical analysis for free vibration of simply supported thin rectangular plates has been simulated using Ansys. The vibration of plate follows Kirchhoff plate theory. The natural frequency calculated using Ansys has been compared with Levy type solution results available in the literature. It is observed that the natural frequencies of the simply supported rectangular plate is in close agreement with exact solution results as reported in literature

Bearing type influence on vibration activity at coasting of bent double-span rotor with skew-symmetric residual unbalance

    Get PDF
The paper is dedicated to study the dependence of vibration activity at coasting of high-temperature segment of turbine unit (TU), which includes high pressure and medium-low pressure rotors (HPR-MLPR system) with skew-symmetric residual unbalance of each rotor, from frequently used types of bearings. Six-block segmental and elliptical bearings are considered. The study takes into account the presence of unrecoverable initial deflection of the shaft. Calculations are performed for turbine model K-300-23.5. Detailed analysis of results is performed

Level set medical image segmentation aided by cooperative quantum particle optimization with Lévy flights

    Get PDF
Image segmentation plays an important part of image processing, and is also the premise and basis of image analysis and image understanding and recognition. Among the level set based methods, the original Local Binary Fitting (LBF) algorithm is a successful deterministic algorithm that suffers from sensitization to size of the local minimum, image contours, shapes, and initial positions. Among them, Level Set method promotes the two-dimensional problem to the three-dimensional one and then solves it using implicit method to express closed curve of plane. In this article, a novel Level Set model aided by PSO was proposed to solve automated medical image segmentation. The experimental result of segmentations on the benchmark shows that our proposed method is effective to both simple and complex medical images

Vibration-based damage growth monitoring in beam-like structures

    Get PDF
Damage growth monitoring plays an important role in providing early warning of structural failure. The existing methods for damage growth monitoring are mainly local inspection methods, such as acoustic emission. These methods need a priori knowledge of accessible damage vicinity, which may not be realized in practice. Hence, vibration-based global approach is adopted to overcome these difficulties. Natural frequency, as a global modal parameter, can be measured easily and is used for vibration-based damage growth monitoring in this study. A concept of damage-induced relative natural frequency change (RNFC) curve is defined first and its relation with mode shape is then derived analytically, giving a good way to approximate RNFC curves. For monitoring damage growth, a damage growth indicator is proposed based on RNFCs between two damaged stages of a beam. The effectiveness of the indicator for damage growth monitoring is proved by both numerical and experimental cases in beam-like structures

Damage detection in sluice hoist beams subject to excitation at resonance frequency band based on local primary frequency

    Get PDF
Cracks of sluice hoist beams due to the load and aging of the material threaten the safety of sluice structural system. As the one of the main methods of damage detection, the non-destructive detection method based on natural frequency is still insensitive to local damage. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for hoist beams damage detection driven by resonance frequency band based on local primary frequency in the local mode. Firstly, the possibility of damage detection based on local primary frequency is discussed and the procedure of determining resonance frequency band is explained. Then the damage identification index based on the change ratio of local primary frequency is provided. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed method can provide reference for damage detection of hoist beams and health monitoring of sluice structural system

Structural, shock and vibration analysis of special water filter

    Get PDF
The present work is focused on the finite element analysis carried out on special water filter used in the marine application developed by CVRDE. This paper describes specifically on various type of analysis such as structural, shock analysis and modal analysis for the special water filter. The analysis is carried out using finite element method and compared it with the test results. It is observed that the shock test and sine sweep vibration test carried out is in line with the predicted finite element simulation. The filter assembly is designed in such a way that the natural frequency is away from resonance frequency. Thus, the special water filter has been validated through analysis using the finite element technique which help reduce the repeated testing of all the filters
