    Get PDF
Artificial neural networks are becoming more popular with the development of artificial intelligence. These networks require large amounts of data to function effectively, especially in the field of computer vision. The quality of an object detector is primarily determined by its architecture, but the quality of the data it uses is also important. In this study, we explore the use of novel data set enhancement technique to improve the performance of the YOLOv5 object detector. Overall, we investigate three methods: first, a novel approach using synthetic object replicas to augment the existing real data set without changing the size of the data set; second - rotation augmentation data set propagating technique and their symbiosis, third, only one required class is supplemented. The solution proposed in this article improves the data set with a help of supplementation and augmentation. Lower the influence of the imbalanced data sets by data supplementation with synthetic yeast cell replicas. We also determine the average supplementation values for the data set to determine how many percent of the data set is most effective for the supplementation

Influence of wheelset structural flexibility on dynamic properties of a wide-gauge six-axle heavy-haul locomotive

    Get PDF
Wheelset structural flexibility, that is the elastic deformation of the wheelset as a structure, has an important influence on the dynamic properties of railway locomotive vehicles at medium and high frequencies. Based on the practical structural parameters, this paper proposes a multi-degree of freedom rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of a wide-gauge freight electric locomotive with C0-C0 bogies with an axle suspension driving system. The wheelset with the interference-fit large gear is made flexible using the finite element method, and then the rigid-flexible coupling vehicle model with elastic wheelsets is established in the software SIMPACK 2020. A short-wave irregularity superposed on the American fifth-grade track irregularity is used as the track excitation to study the performance at higher frequencies. From the modal analysis of the vehicle, it is obtained that the lowest frequency at which the elastic deformation of the wheelset occurs is 24.631 Hz. The lateral vibration responses of the vehicle with elastic wheelsets are reduced mainly in the frequency range of 30-150 Hz. There are two resonances in the lateral vibration responses at the mode frequencies of the vehicle over 50 Hz, which are close to the wheelset’s first mode frequency. Taking the ГОСТ standard of wide-gauge countries as the main reference, simulations are separately taken in straight-line and curved-line cases. Results show that the wheelset structural flexibility mainly influences the vehicle lateral stability and safety

Experimental study and comparative analysis of pitting fault in spur gear system

    Get PDF
This paper uses a dynamic six-degree-of-freedom model that considers torsional and lateral motions to predict the impact of pitting on vibration parameters in a spur gearbox for various operating speeds and torque loads. The study examines the dynamic characteristics of a gearbox with localized pitting damage on a single gear tooth using theoretical and experimental approaches. The research analyzes the forced vibrations of a single-stage spur gear system with pitting damage, which includes variations in mesh stiffness, damping, and gear error excitation, to identify symptoms of default. The equation of motion for the rotary gearbox system is established using the Lagrangian method in tandem with Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and frequency-RPM map fault diagnosis. During real-time vibration monitoring, vibration signals are captured via accelerometers and processed in both the time and frequency domains using the LabVIEW data acquisition signal processing package to extract diagnostic information. The experimental findings demonstrate how vibration analysis combined with time-frequency processing can recognize machine conditions even in harsh operational conditions. Moreover, the experimental results indicate a significant similarity with the theoretical analysis and validate the effectiveness of the RPM frequency technique-based pitting detection method, which can be an asset in gear fault monitoring

    Get PDF
A microcontroller-based measuring instrument and a new mathematical model are used to investigate capacitor permittivity and dielectric materials' charge-discharge characteristics. In this study, a prototype capacitive permittivity measurement apparatus for dielectric materials was carefully developed using an Arduino microcontroller, a resistor, and a capacitor. The experimental setup comprises a capacitor-resistor circuit, wherein a 5-volt power supply sourced from the microcontroller interfaces with a computer. During the charging process, a comprehensive evaluation of model-data alignment was performed, yielding values of 0.54252156, 0.9951, and 111.2508701 for the sum of squares error (SSE), the coefficient of determination (R-squared), and the sum of squares total (SST), respectively. Similarly, the analysis extended to the discharging process, unveiling values of 5.10174756, 0.962805684, and 137.1647082 for SSE, R-squared, and SST, respectively. These findings confirm the accuracy of the microcontroller that was programmed by incorporating a model in precisely measuring the relative permittivity of dielectric materials and capacitance values, with an R-squared value above 0.95 following capacitor literature benchmarks. The novelty of this study is that this configuration enabled the precise assessment of both permittivity and the charge-discharge characteristics of the dielectric materials within the capacitor. This methodology made it possible to accurately measure the permittivity and charge-discharge characteristics of dielectric materials within a capacitor. The scientific significance of this research lies in its ability to provide a carefully developed instrument capable of investigating the permittivity of dielectric materials and capacitor capacitance measurements. Scholars, international engineering communities, and academics can use this technological breakthrough to advance research into dielectric material properties and capacitor characteristics

Special emphasis has been given to the parameters of physical interest. These findings are visually presented through graphical representations, providing a clear and insightful understanding involved in this flow scenario. In addition, the final results are examined in light of past research and it is determined that they meet the convergence standards to an exceedingly satisfactory degree. The study’s findings are beneficial for many technical and commercial endeavours

The application of fault diagnosis techniques and monitoring methods in building electrical systems – based on ELM algorithm

The reliability of modern building electrical systems are receiving increasing attention as they become more intelligent and complex. As the majority of building electrical systems use neutral point grounding, earth faults or short circuits can get worse over time and damage both the distribution system and the electrical equipment. To this end, the corresponding three phases and four categories, namely three-phase voltage, three-phase current after fault, three-phase voltage distortion rate, three-phase current distortion rate, a total of 12 dimensional fault feature vectors and 10 fault simulation types, were summarised and extracted in conjunction with the actual operating conditions of the system. Using traditional fault identification ideas and neural network algorithm as reference, a 12-dimensional fault feature vector is used as the model input to construct a building electrical fault diagnosis and detection model based on ELM algorithm. Results showed that the ELM-based model’s classification accuracy for this experimental sample was 97.56 %, its AUC was 0.92, and its RMSE was 0.3521. These figures were higher than the classification accuracy and performance of the BP algorithm and GA-BP algorithm fault diagnosis models, and they also demonstrate better robustness and generalizability. The model also has a 97.27 % correct rate in fault discrimination, while the computation time is only 0.201 s, and its fault identification and diagnosis speed is faster than other algorithmic models. At the same time, this research model has a good fault monitoring accuracy of up to 98.6 % for building electrical systems. The research can provide a more sensitive, accurate and rapid fault monitoring method for the current building electrical system. It also improves the reliability of the building electrical system in a complex environment and achieves better protection of the system. This has a certain significance for the development of the building electrical industry

Static transmission error measurement of various gear-shaft systems by finite element analysis

    Get PDF
Transmission error (TE) is a significant parameter related to gears vibration widely investigated by many authors using different approaches. However, in previous studies, spur and helical gears were mainly examined. There is a lack of studies addressed to double helical and herringbone gears and a comparison among several types of gearing with parallel axes. In this paper, spur, helical, double helical, and herringbone gears are analyzed in terms of static transmission error (STE), contact pressure and tooth root stress. Static contact analyses were conducted using the finite element method (FEM) which is often considered a tool for validating other methods and approaches. Moreover, three variants of boundary conditions of each gear type are introduced, including flexible shafts and the effect of a tip relief modification at sole gears, without shafts, was analyzed. In addition, a concept of a compact test rig intended for STE measurements at low loads was presented. The results have shown, among other things, significant influence of the shaft stiffness and boundary conditions on meshing characteristics
