No full textOne of the biggest issues facing environmental protection organizations in developing nations is waste management practices. The waste management techniques and issues in Abua/Odual LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria are discussed in this paper. Abua/waste Odual's management confronts many difficulties, which are brought on by a lack of funding, insufficient infrastructure, treatment facilities, and equipment for waste collection. Information used in this study came from both primary and secondary sources. 100 surveys were given out in all, and primary source data were gathered. The study's target audience was the residents of the sampled households. A total of 10 questionnaires were distributed to sample 10 different households in each of the chosen communities, which were chosen from a total of 60 communities in the study area. 95 questionnaires were collected for analysis. The results of the research showed that the studied area lacks garbage disposal facilities and that waste management practices are inadequate. The waste management methods in the studied area, which include the usage of dustbins, buckets, plastics, bags, and other containers, can be replicated in Nigerian cities today, according to empirical findings from this study. The study recommended encouraging waste recycling to help lower the amount of waste produced. For instance, the rising demand for plastics necessitates the use of additional petroleum, which not only has a financial cost but also has an effect on the environment
