    Bu araştırma, rezidüel konuşma sesi bozukluğu (R-KSB) olan ve olmayan çocukların Anlamsız Sözcük Tekrarı Testi (ASTT) performanslarını karşılaştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın bir diğer amacı, katılımcıların ASTT performansının demografik değişkenler açısından incelenmesidir. Bu kapsamda, ASTT puanları yaş değişkeni ve ebeveyn eğitim düzeyi grupları arasında karşılaştırılmıştır. AST çalışma bellleğini değerlendiren bir görevdir. Araştırmaya 8;00-9;11 yaş aralığında 27 R-KSB ve 35 tipik gelişim gösteren (TGG) çocuk dahil edilmiştir. Gönüllü katılım onayı alınan katılımcılara KSB değerlendirmesi amacıyla Ankara Artikülasyon Testi (AAT) ve anlamsız sözcük tekrarı performansını değerlendirmek amacıyla da ASTT uygulanmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre ASTT puanları gruplar arasında anlamlı olarak farklılaşmaktadır. R-KSB olan çocukların ASTT performansları, TGG çocuklardan anlamlı derecede daha düşük bulunmuştur. Anne ve baba eğitim düzeyine göre yapılan karşılaştırmalarda ise R-KSB olan çocukların ASTT puanları baba eğitim düzeyine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. Anne eğitim düzeyi açısından grup içi karşılaştırmalarda ve yaş değişkeni açısından gruplar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, R-KSB olan çocukların konuşma seslerinin hatalı üretiminin yanı sıra çalışma belleğinin kullanılmasını gerektiren görevlerde de zorluk yaşadıklarını göstermektedir. Another objective of the study is to examine NWRT performance across different age groups and parental education levels. NWR is a task that evaluates working memory. In this context, the study included 27 children with R-SSD and 35 TD children aged between 8;00 and 9;11 years. With informed consent obtained, the Ankara Articulation Test (AAT) was administered to assess speech sound disorders, and the NWRT was applied to evaluate nonword repetition performance. According to the findings, NWRT scores differed significantly between the groups. Children with R-SSD performed significantly lower on the NWRT compared to their TD peers. When comparisons were made based on parental education levels, NWRT scores in children with R-SSD differed significantly according to the father's education level. However, no significant differences were found in within-group comparisons based on the mother's education level or between age groups. These findings suggest that children with R-SSD not only produce speech sounds inaccurately but also experience difficulties in tasks involving working memory and phonological memory.     Energy trap dynamics and thermoluminescent behaviour of Sm3+-doped LaCa4O(BO3)3 under variable conditions

    This study systematically explores the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of Sm3+-doped LaCa4O(BO3)(3) (LaCOB) phosphors, with emphasis on the effects of doping concentration, beta irradiation dose, and heating rate. The LaCOB host matrix, composed of borate-based compounds, is recognized for its thermal stability and efficient energy transfer characteristics. TL measurements conducted at a heating rate of 2 degrees C/s revealed three well-defined glow peaks at similar to 81, 138, and 298 degrees C, respectively. The most favorable TL intensity was obtained at a doping concentration of 0.5 wt%, beyond which concentration quenching effects became prominent. Dose-response analyses exhibited both linear and super-linear trends, indicating potential for broad-range dosimetric applications. A notable increase in the integrated TL glow curve area with increasing heating rate was observed, suggesting a suppression of non-radiative pathways, possibly due to efficient charge carrier trapping and recombination mechanisms. The material also demonstrated remarkable reusability and thermal stability across repeated irradiation-readout cycles, reinforcing its potential for reliable radiation dosimetry.     THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL EFFECT OF FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT ON TOTAL FACTOR PRODUCTIVITY: EVIDENCE FROM CROSS-COUNTRY PANEL DATA

    This paper estimates the impact of financial development on total factor productivity (TFP) using panel data from 2002 to 2019. Employing the Driscoll-Kraay Standard Error (DKSE) approach, we analyze the relationship between financial development and its components (financial institutions and financial markets) with TFP. The results confirm the existence of a positive and significant relationship between financial development and TFP, suggesting that financial development plays a facilitating role in TFP. It was found that financial institutions have a positive and significant effect on TFP, while financial markets do not have a significant effect on TFP. Moreover, while the effect of financial development on TFP is positive and significant in developing countries, there is no clear evidence of such an effect in developed countries. Among the control variables included in the model, trade openness, foreign direct investment, and economic growth have a positive effect on TFP, while human capital has a negative effect. Furthermore, it is confirmed that institutional quality indicators also have a positive impact on TFP when included in the model. Our results suggest that policies favouring financial development should be pursued further in order to correct the mismatch in resource allocation and thus promote TFP growth

    Libanius, 4. yüzyıl dünyasının önemli entelektüel figürleri arasında ayırıcı bir yere sahiptir. Bir sofist olarak orijinalliği, kendi çağının entelektüel, politik, kültürel ve toplumsal yönlerini yansıtan retoriğinde gizlidir. Aynı zamanda bir eğitimci olarak şehrinin insanlarıyla kapsamlı bir iletişim ağına sahip, yöneticiler nezdinde etkili olabilen nüfuzlu bir figürdü. Libanius, farklı toplumsal düzeylerde vuku bulan olaylarla ilgili görüşler ortaya koyan, yönetici sınıfın karar ve uygulamaları karşısında öneri ve taleplerini dile getiren, söylevlerini toplumsal gerçekliklerden beslenerek inşa eden bir sofistti. Libanius, bu anlamda içine doğduğu ve retoriğine aksettirdiği 4. yüzyıl Antakya’sının bir aynası konumundaydı. Bu kapsamda, makalenin temel hedefi, öncelikle Libanius’un entelektüel portresini çizmek ve düşünürün temel ilgi alanları, yönelimleri ve çalışmaları hakkında bilgi vermek, ardından da Libanius’un söylevlerinde 4. yüzyıl Antakya’sının toplumsal ilişki pratiklerini aydınlatan, kültürel ve sınıfsal dokusunu aktaran tespitleri hakkında bir değerlendirme sunmaktır.Libanius has a distinctive place among the important intellectual figures of the 4th century world. His originality as a sophist is hidden in his rhetoric that reflects the intellectual, political, cultural and social aspects of his age. At the same time, as an educator, he was an influential figure who had an extensive communication network with the people of his city and could influence the administrators. Libanius was a sophist who put forward his views on events taking place at different social levels, could express his suggestions and demands regarding the decisions and practices of the ruling class, and built his speeches by feeding on social realities. In this sense, Libanius was a mirror of the 4th century Antioch in which he was born and which he reflected in his rhetoric. In this context, the main goal of the article is, first of all, to draw the intellectual portrait of Libanius and to provide information about the thinker's basic interests, tendencies and works. Then, it is to present an evaluation of Libanius' findings in his speeches that shed light on the social relations practices of 4th Century Antioch and convey its cultural and class texture

    Evaluation of the use of complementary and alternative treatment methods in patients with mechanical low back pain

    Bel ağrısı sık görülür ve fonksiyonel kısıtlılık, yaşam kalitesinin azalması iş gücü kaybı ve ekonomik yük nedenidir. Amaç: Amacımız kronik mekanik bel ağrısı olan hastaların Tamamlayıcı Alternatif Tedavi yöntemlerine ne oranda başvurdukları, sıklıkla hangi yöntemleri kullandıkları, bu yöntemlere hangi kanallarla başvurdukları ve sosyodemografik özelliklerle ilişkisinin değerlendirmektir. Gereç Yöntem: Kesitsel tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırmaya kronik mekanik bel ağrısı olan rastgele seçilen 500, kadın ve erkek hasta alındı. Bilgilendirilmiş onamları imzalayan hastaların sosyodemografik özellikleri, tanıları kaydedildi.Bel ağrısı şiddeti vizuel analog skalayla değerlendirildi, tamamlayıcı alternatif tedavi kullanımları sorgulandı. Sonuç :Bel ağrısında tamamlayıcı alternatif tedavilere başvuru sıktır. Bu nedenle hekimler tarafından bu konuda kapsamlı, yüksek hasta katılımlı bilimsel araştırmaların yapılması gerekliliğini ortaya koymuştur. Aim : Our aim is to evaluate to what extent patients with chronic mechanical low back pain use Complementary Alternative Treatment methods, which methods they frequently use, through which channels they use these methods, and their relationship with sociodemographic characteristics. Materials and Methods: 500 randomly selected male and female patients with chronic mechanical low back pain were included in this cross-sectional descriptive study. Sociodemographic characteristics and diagnoses of the patients who signed informed consent were recorded. The severity of back pain was evaluated with a visual analog scale, and their use of complementary alternative treatments was questioned. Conclusion : It is common to use complementary alternative treatments for low back pain. For this reason, it has revealed the need for comprehensive scientific research with high patient participation by physicians on this subject.     Automating exam assessment through digital transformation and image processing

    3rd International Conference on Electronic Governance with Emerging Technologies, EGETC 2024 -- 25 September 2024 through 26 September 2024 -- Jakarta -- 324659The paper presents a study aimed at optimizing the reading and evaluating process of multiple-choice exam sheets (optical forms) as a smart campus application at Izmir Bakircay University, significantly reducing the time and cost involved. Traditional manual evaluation methods are time-consuming and expensive. The proposed solution leverages digital transformation and image processing technologies. The algorithm developed processes scanned images of optical forms, generates scores, and provides statistical reports without requiring specialized knowledge. The methodology is divided into three main steps: detecting sections of the optical form, cropping sections, reading marked circles based on coordinates, reporting exam results, and statistical analysis. Testing with previously used optical forms showed 100% accuracy at a resolution of 600×600 dpi. Errors caused by user handling were anticipated and the system was designed to be robust against such errors. The results of implementing this automated system include a 98.15% reduction in processing time and a 99.95% reduction in cost. The new evaluation time is around 5 min per exam, costing 347 TL. The process now requires only one person instead of four. This study exemplifies the potential of digital transformation and image processing to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness in academic settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025

    Measurement of inclusive and differential cross sections for W+W- production in proton-proton collisions at √s=13.6 TeV

    Measurements at root s = 13.6 TeV of the opposite-sign W boson pair production cross section in proton-proton collisions are presented. The data used in this study were collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC in 2022, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 34.8 fb(-1). Events are selected by requiring one electron and one muon of opposite charge. A maximum likelihood fit is performed on signal- and background-enriched data categories dfined by the flavor and charge of the leptons, the number of jets, and number of jets originating from b quarks. The overall sensitivity is significantly better than that of previous results with a similar integrated luminosity. The improvement comes from a more rfined control of experimental uncertainties and an improved fit strategy. An inclusive W+W- production cross section of 125.7 +/- 5.6 pb is measured, in agreement with standard model predictions. Cross sections are also reported in a fiducial region close to that of the detector acceptance, both inclusively and differentially, as a function of the jet multiplicity in the event.     Protective role of astaxanthin against bisphenol A induced biochemical and histopathological alterations in rat kidneys

    Objective(s): This study investigates the ability of astaxanthin (ASTX), a powerful anti-oxidant, to protect kidney tissue from oxidative and cellular damage resulting from bisphenol A (BPA) toxicity, a widespread global toxin associated with chronic kidney disease. Materials and Methods: We used 32 male Wistar Albino rats, 16 weeks old, and weighing 250-300 g. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: Control, Sham, BPA, and BPA+ASTX. Following the experiment, serum samples were assessed for Paraoxonase 1 (PON1), Arylesterase (ARE), urea, and creatinine levels. Changes in kidney tissue induced by BPA were examined using histopathological methods. Also, the levels of apoptosis and collagen content were evaluated. Results: ASTX treatment reversed the BPA-induced inhibition of PON1 and ARE levels, restoring them to control levels, and reduced the BPA-induced increase in urea levels. Creatinine levels showed no significant differences across the groups. BPA exposure in kidney tissue caused vacuolization, congestion, tubular dilatation, desquamation, infiltration, and increased collagen around glomeruli and blood vessels. However, ASTX treatment significantly improved these pathological findings. While BPA induced apoptosis as indicated by Bax and Bcl-2 analysis, ASTX treatment partially inhibited this process. Conclusion: These findings indicate that ASTX may protect against BPA-induced renal injury. However, the study's limitations include the use of a single dose and a focus solely on kidney tissue. Additionally, the lack of dose-response data and evaluations of other organs or long-term effects are significant drawbacks.     Effect of vortioxetine on hemoxygenase pathway in experimental multiple sclerosis model

    Bu çalışma, vortioksetinin kuprizon ile indüklenen demiyelinizasyon modeli oluşturulmuş Multipl Skleroz farelerinde Nrf2/HO-1 sinyal yolakları üzerinden oksidatif stres ve antioksidan savunma mekanizmaları üzerindeki etkilerini incelemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada, 24 adet erkek C57Bl/6 fare rastgele dört gruba ayrılmıştır: kontrol, kuprizon, kuprizon + vortioksetin ve vortioksetin. Demiyelinizasyon, 5 hafta boyunca her gün oral yolla 10 mg/kg kuprizon verilerek indüklenmiştir. Vortioksetin, ilgili gruplara dört hafta boyunca 10 mg/kg dozunda intraperitoneal olarak uygulanmıştır. Biyokimyasal analizlerde nükleer ve total Nrf2 düzeyleri, HO-1 düzeyi ve toplam antioksidan kapasite (TAS) değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve ardından Sidak post-hoc testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Kuprizon uygulaması HO-1 düzeylerini anlamlı şekilde artırmıştır (****p<0.0001; kontrol grubuna göre), bu artış vortioksetin ile birlikte uygulandığında anlamlı olarak azalmıştır (****p<0.0001; kuprizon grubuna göre). Nükleer Nrf2 düzeyleri kuprizon grubunda yükselmiş (*p<0.05; kontrol grubuna göre), ancak vortioksetin eş tedavisi ile anlamlı şekilde azalmıştır (**p<0.01; kuprizon grubuna göre). Nükleer/total Nrf2 oranı, kuprizon grubuna kıyasla eş tedavi grubunda daha düşük bulunmuştur (**p<0.01). TAS düzeyleri hem kuprizon hem de kuprizon + vortioksetin gruplarında kontrol grubuna kıyasla anlamlı olarak artmıştır (****p<0.0001). Bu bulgular, vortioksetinin kuprizonla oluşturulan demiyelinizasyon modelinde Nrf2/HO-1 yolunu modüle ederek oksidatif stresi azalttığını göstermektedir. Bu sonuçlar, vortioksetinin demiyelinizan hastalıklar, özellikle de Multipl Skleroz için potansiyel bir tedavi ajanı olabileceğini düşündürmektedir.This study was conducted to investigate the effects of vortioxetine on oxidative stress and antioxidant defense mechanisms via the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway in a cuprizone-induced demyelination model of Multiple Sclerosis in mice. In the study, twenty-four male C57Bl/6 mice were randomly assigned to four groups: control, cuprizone, cuprizone + vortioxetine, and vortioxetine. Demyelination was induced by administering 10 mg/kg cuprizone orally every day for five weeks. Vortioxetine was administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 10 mg/kg for four weeks to the appropriate groups. Biochemical analyses were conducted to assess nuclear and total Nrf2 levels, HO-1 levels, and total antioxidant status (TAS). Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Sidak's post-hoc test. Cuprizone administration significantly increased HO-1 levels (****p<0.0001 vs. control); however, this elevation was significantly reduced when co-administered with vortioxetine (****p<0.0001 vs. cuprizone). Nuclear Nrf2 levels were elevated in the cuprizone group (*p<0.05 vs. control) and significantly decreased with vortioxetine co- treatment (**p<0.01 vs. cuprizone). The nuclear/total Nrf2 ratio was lower in the co- treatment group compared to the cuprizone group (**p<0.01). TAS levels were significantly increased in both the cuprizone and cuprizone + vortioxetine groups compared to the control group (****p<0.0001). These findings demonstrate that vortioxetine modulates the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and reduces oxidative stress in the cuprizone-induced demyelination model. The results suggest that vortioxetine may serve as a potential therapeutic agent for demyelinating diseases, particularly Multiple Sclerosis
