Cu doping of Sb2Se3 thin films via thermal evaporation: Tailoring structural and optical properties for enhanced photovoltaic performance
In this study, Cu-doped Sb2Se3 thin films were successfully grown using the thermal evaporation method, and their structural and optical properties were systematically investigated. Three different samples with thickness of similar to 400 nm were analyzed: undoped, 1 %, and 2 % Cu-doped Sb2Se3. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed well-defined peaks, confirming the orthorhombic crystalline nature of the films. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed a uniform surface morphology without any significant defects. The optical properties were examined through transmission measurements. The band gap energy determined by Tauc analysis decreased from 1.27 to 1.21 eV as the Cu doping increased from 0 % to 2 %, indicating that Cu incorporation modifies the electronic structure of Sb2Se3. Similarly, Urbach energy increased from 0.148 to 0.168 eV depending on Cu content, suggesting a rise in localized states due to increased structural disorder. These findings demonstrate that Cu doping influences the electronic structure and defect states of Sb2Se3, which is crucial for optimizing its performance in photovoltaic and optoelectronic applications
The effect of music intervention during port catheter insertion on patients' anxiety,fear, and pain levels
Araştırma, port katater yerleştirilmesi esnasında dinletilen müziğin hastaların algıladıkları kaygı, korku ve ağrı düzeylerine etkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya Kasım 2023 – Kasım 2024 tarihleri arasında İzmir Bakırçay Üniversitesi Çiğli Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Girişimsel Radyoloji Bölümüne Port Kateter yerleştirilmesi planlanan hastalar alınmıştır. Bu hastalardan 18 yaş üzeri, biliişsel algılama problemi olmayan ve çalışmayı katılmayı kabul eden hastalar dahil edilmiştir. İşitme problemi olan, ağrısı olan ve müzik dinlemek istemeyen hastalar dışlanmıştır. Örneklem seçiminde Basit Randomizasyon yapılmış, örneklem kriterlerine uyan ve araştırmaya alınan ilk hasta müzik dinletilen gruba (müzik grubu), ikinci hasta müzik dinletilmeyen gruba (kontrol grubu) dahil edilmiştir. Her grupta 50 hasta olmak üzere toplam 100 hasta araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Hasta müzik grubunda ise işlem öncesi kablosuz kulak içi bir kulaklık hastaya takılmıştır ve işlem boyunca Acemairan Makamından Musiki veya Enstrümantal Türk Halk Müziği dinletilmiştir. Müzik dinletisi hasta anjio odasına girdiği andan başlayıp işlem sonuna kadar sürmüştür. Kontrol grubundaki hastalara müzik dinletilmeden işlem gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tüm port kateterler aynı girişimsel radyoloji uzmanı tarafından yerleştirilmiştir. İşlem öncesi ve sonrası hastaların yaşamsal bulguları ölçülmüş, korku düzeyi "Cerrahi Korku Ölçeği" ve kaygı düzeyi "Durumluluk Kaygı Ölçeği" ile değerlendirilmiştir. İşlemden hemen sonra ise hastaların işlem esnasındaki ağrı düzeyleri "Görsel Kıyaslama Ölçeği" değerlendirilmiştir. Tüm bu değerlendirmeler ise çalışma gruplarına kör olan bir teknisyen tarafından yapılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı ve yüzdelik dağılımlar, varyans analizi, ki-kare, Student t testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulanabilmesi için; İzmir Bakırçay Üniversitesi Girişimsel Olmayan Klinik Araştırmalar Etik Kurulundan, Çiğli Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesinden yazılı, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden hastalardan yazılı/sözlü izin alınmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; müzik grubundaki hastaların yaş ortalaması 59,34±9,34 yıl, kontrol grubundakilerin ise 62,06±9,31 yıl olarak belirlenmiştir. Hastaların %56,0'ı müzik grubunda ve %50,0'ı kontrol grubunda erkek, %44,0'ı müzik grubunda ve %50,0'ı kontrol grubunda kadındır. Müzik ve kontrol grubu arasında yaş ve cinsiyet açısından fark saptanmamıştır. Müzik grubundaki hastaların memnuniyet puan ortalaması 7,08±2,41 (medyan 7,5) olarak saptanmıştır. Müzik grubundaki hastalarda işlem sonrası nabız, solunum sayısı, sistolik ve diastolik kan basıncı gibi yaşamsal bulgularda anlamlı düşüşler gözlenmiştir (p<0,05). Buna karşılık kontrol grubunda bu parametrelerde artış gözlenmiştir. Hastaların işlem esnasında hissettikleri ağrı puanı ortalamaları müzik grubunda 2,24±1,44, kontrol grubunda 2,94±1,92 olarak bulunmuştur. Müzik ve kontrol grubu arasında ağrı ortalamaları arasındaki fark anlamlı olup kontrol grubunda ağrı ortalamaları daha yüksektir (p=0,037). Cerrahi Kaygı Ölçeği puanları müzik grubunda işlem öncesi 40,04±19,86, işlem sonrası 12,26±12,91; kontrol grubunda ise işlem öncesi 34,34±23,37 ve işlem sonrası 34,34±25,4 olarak bulunmuştur. Durumluluk Kaygı Ölçeği puanları müzik grubunda işlem öncesi 49,92±13,9, işlem sonrası 38,2±12,32; kontrol grubunda ise işlem öncesi 52,42±10,7, işlem sonrası 54,58±11,15 (medyan 53) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Müzik ve kontrol grubu arasında işlem sonrası cerrahi korku ve durumluluk kaygı puanları arasındaki fark anlamlı olup müzik grubunda korku ve kaygı ortalaması daha düşüktür (p<0,001). Grup içi karşılaştırmalarda, müzik grubu için işlem öncesi ve sonrası cerrahi korku ve kaygı ortalamaları arasındaki fark anlamlıdır (p<0,001). Sonuç olarak, port kateter yerleştirilmesi esnasında müzik dinletilen hastalarda yaşamsal bulgular, ağrı, korku ve anksiyete düzeylerinde kontrol grubuna kıyasla anlamlı düzeyde azalma gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca müzik grubundaki hastaların memnuniyet yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir.This study was conducted to examine the effect of music intervetion during port catheter insertion on patients' perceived levels of anxiety, fear, and pain. Patients scheduled for port catheter insertion in the Interventional Radiology Department of İzmir Bakırçay University Çiğli Training and Research Hospital between November 2023 and November 2024 were included in the study. Patients over the age of 18, without cognitive impairments, and who agreed to participate were included, while those with hearing problems, existing pain, or who did not want to listen to music were excluded. A simple randomization method was used for sampling. The first eligible patient was assigned to the music group, and the second to the control group. A total of 100 patients, with 50 in each group, comprised the study sample. In the music group, patients wore wireless in-ear headphones before the procedure and listened to either classical Turkish music in the Acemairan mode or instrumental Turkish folk music throughout the entire procedure. The music started when the patient entered the angiography room and continued until the end of the procedure. Patients in the control group underwent the procedure without music. All catheter insertions were performed by the same interventional radiologist. Vital signs were measured before and after the procedure. Fear levels were assessed using the Surgical Fear Questionnaire, anxiety levels using the State Anxiety Inventory, and pain levels immediately after the procedure using the Visual Analog Scale. All assessments were conducted by a blinded technician. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage distributions, variance analysis, chi-square test, and Student's t-test. The mean age of patients in the music group was 59.34±9.34 years, and 62.06±9.31 years in the control group. In the music group, 56.0% were male and 44.0% were vi female; in the control group, 50.0% were male and 50.0% were female. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of age and gender. The mean satisfaction score of patients in the music group was 7.08±2.41 (median 7.5). Significant decreases were observed in the music group's vital signs — pulse, respiratory rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure — after the procedure (p<0.05), while increases were seen in the control group. Mean pain scores during the procedure were significantly lower in the music group (2.24±1.44) compared to the control group (2.94±1.92) (p=0.037). Surgical Fear Questionnaire scores in the music group decreased from 40.04±19.86 before the procedure to 12.26±12.91 afterward, whereas in the control group, scores remained the same before and after the procedure (34.34±23.37 and 34.34±25.4, respectively). State Anxiety Inventory scores in the music group decreased from 49.92±13.9 to 38.2±12.32, while in the control group, they increased from 52.42±10.7 to 54.58±11.15 (median 53). The post-procedure fear and anxiety scores were significantly lower in the music group compared to the control group (p<0.001). Within-group comparisons also showed a statistically significant reduction in fear and anxiety scores in the music group (p<0.001). In conclusion, listening to music during port catheter insertion significantly reduced patients' vital signs, pain, fear, and anxiety levels compared to the control group. Moreover, patient satisfaction was found to be higher in the music group
Sex Prediction in Turkish Population with Anthropometric Measurements of Scapula on MDCT Images Using Machine Learning Algorithms
Identification studies progress more accurately and easily after sex estimation is realized. Therefore, sex determination is the first step in identification studies. The aim of our study is to perform sex estimation from the singscapula u machine learning (ML) algorithms with parameters obtained from multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images of the Turkish population. The study was performed on MDCT images of 300 individuals (150 females and 150 males) aged between and 60 years. MDCT images of the scapula were imported into the Radiant DICOM Viewer program and the following parameters were measured: the maximum length of the scapula (SML), the maximum width of the scapula (SMW), the length of the scapular spine (SSL), the length of the glenoid cavity (GCL), the width of the glenoid cavity (GCW), the distance from the coracoidprocess to the inferior angle (CPIA), the distance from the acromion to the inferior angle (AIA), the distance from the glenoidtothecavity inferior angle (GCIA), the thickness of the lateral margin (LBT), the height of the supraspinous fossa (SSH), the height of the infraspinous fossa (ISH), the maximum length of the acromion (AML), and the maximum width of the acromion (AMW). The obtained data were used for sex prediction using ML algorithms. All parameters measured on the scapula were found to have significant difference in terms of sex (p<0.05). It was determined that the parameters used in sex estimation using MLadmodelsan h accuracy rate of 97 %. Using the SHAP solver of the Random Forest algorithm, the parameter of the SSH was found to have greatest contribution to accuracy. As a result of our study, we think that we can obtain results close to the pelvic y,morphometrwhich is seen as the most dimorphic bone in the literature, when sex determination is made based on scapula morphometry with analysis. Examining scholar-level publishing performance across bibliometric databases by cluster analysis
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the publishing characteristics of scholars across three popular bibliographic databases, namely, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus, that allow the publication output and impact of scholars to be evaluated from a data-centric perspective.Design/methodology/approachA cluster analysis was conducted on the bibliometric and demographic data of 4,054 scholars, sampled from 23 academic division in seven Turkish universities. Among various clustering algorithms, this study applies Ward's hierarchical clustering method to group scholars based on the publication characteristics. Moreover, this paper conducted cross-analyses on their academic divisions and titles to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of their scholarly performance.FindingsThe cluster analysis resulted in four distinct groups of scholars having different publication and citation patterns across three major databases. The results indicate that for all clusters, there is a decline in scholars' publication performance as this paper move from the Google Scholar database to the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The study results indicate that highly productive and influential scholars are affiliated with Medicine, Natural Sciences and Engineering, while less productive scholars are affiliated with Humanities, Educational Sciences and Administrative, Political and Applied Sciences.Originality/valueThis study contributes to prior literature by exploring and profiling the individual scholar's publication performances in prominent bibliographic databases. It is also precious that the findings of this study offer useful information on scholarly publication characteristics in major databases and can be valuable for policymakers and scholars
Psychometric evaluation of the Turkish version of the nurses' perception of the gap between knowledge and practice scale
Background: Progress in the nursing profession and clinical decision-making are largely sustained by the coherence between theory and practice. The quality of healthcare provided by nurses and patient outcomes are adversely impacted by the gap between knowledge and practice. Measurement tools used to assess nurses' perceptions of this gap are inadequate in Türkiye. This research aimed to adapt the nurses' perception of the gap between knowledge and practice scale into Turkish and to evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods: The study, in which a methodological design was employed, was conducted with 406 nurses between March and June 2022. A descriptive information form and the nurses' perception of the gap between knowledge and practice scale (NPGKPS) were employed to gather data. The validity study included content and construct validity analyses, and the reliability study included item analysis, split-half test, and Cronbach alpha coefficients. Results: The scale had 35 items and four dimensions, which explained 54.65% of the total variance. The goodness of fit values, which were found following a confirmatory factor analysis, were estimated as follows: CMIN = 1808.984, DF = 512, CMIN/DF = 3.533, IFI = 0.89, TLI = 0.87, RFI = 0.83, CFI = 0.89, RMSEA = 0.079, and NFI = 0.86. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the total scale was estimated as 0.95 and it was in the range of 0.84 to 0.93 for four factors. Conclusion: In conclusion, the nurses' perception of the gap between knowledge and practice scale was a reliable and valid measure which could be applied to Turkish society. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd
Neuropsychological Functions in Obsessive-compulsive Disorder Patients and the Impact of Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy
Poorer neurocognitive performance in patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is well documented in the literature. Thus, we investigated the social and neurocognitive performance of OCD-diagnosed individuals in this study. Moreover, we aimed to examine the neuropsychological predictors of treatment response and the therapeutic effect on social and neurocognitive functions of Cognitive Behavioural Group Therapy (CBGT) in OCD patients. Social and neurocognitive tests were applied before and after ten cognitive behavioral group psychotherapy sessions. OCD group showed worse performance in Rey Auditory Verbal Learning and Memory Test (p = 0.049), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test number of the completed category (p = 0.011), number of trials (p = 0.03), perseverative errors (p = 0.043), Trail Making Test (TMT)-A (p = 0.032) and TMT-B (p = 0.015) compared to the healthy controls. Reading the Mind Through Eye Test performances were similar in the patient and control groups. After CBGT, patients' scores on Yale-Brown Obsession Compulsion Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire, and Obsession Compulsion Inventory-R decreased. When results were corrected for practice effect, no improvement in social and neurocognitive test performance was found. There was no relationship between treatment response and pretreatment social and neurocognitive test performance. Comprehensive analysis study of techniques in different domains for Turkish music genre classification task
Nowadays, models or algorithms are used in the analysis process as the amount of data increases. Depending on the sectors, techniques in domains such as NLP, image processing, and voice analysis can be used. In this study, analyses were applied in these domains to classify music genres on the Turkish music dataset and these domains were compared. To perform the first analysis, the voice characteristic features of the songs were extracted and the success of machine learning (ML) algorithms and the CNN model were analyzed. For the next analysis, spectrograms of the songs were extracted and Keras application models were trained with transfer learning. During these analyses, audio segmentation and feature reduction techniques were also performed on the songs to analyze them. The last analysis applied textual analysis with song lyrics to the NLP domain. After preprocessing, the vector representations of these lyrics were obtained and the success of ML algorithms and the CNN model was measured. At the same time, large language models were fine-tuned and the success of these models was analyzed. As a result of all analyses, it has been shown that the ML method with the application of audio segmentation and feature reduction for voice analysis is the most successful. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications Concerning Artificial Intelligence in Information Science and Library Science
Bu çalışma, bilgi bilimi ve kütüphanecilik alanında yapay zekâ (YZ) üzerine yayımlanan akademik çalışmaların bibliyometrik analizini sunmaktadır. 1991-2024 yılları arasında Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanında "Information Science & Library Science" kategorisinde indekslenen 1457 makale incelenmiştir. Veri analizi, R Studio platformunda bibliometrix paketi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. İş birliği ağları, anahtar kelime analizleri ve tematik evrim gibi görselleştirme süreçleri için VOSviewer aracı kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular, YZ’nin bu alandaki öneminin özellikle 2020 sonrası hızla arttığını ortaya koymaktadır. ABD ve Çin en üretken ülkeler olarak öne çıkarken, iş birliği ve atıf ağları küresel düzeyde güçlü etkileşimleri yansıtmaktadır. Ayrıca iş birliği ağ analizlerinde çok uluslu iş birliklerinin etkisi dikkat çekmektedir. Anahtar kelime analizi, YZ'nin disiplinlerarası doğasını ve bilgi yönetim süreçlerindeki dönüştürücü rolünü vurgulamaktadır. S-Sulfocysteine's toxic effects on HT-22 cells are not triggered by glutamate receptors, nor do they involve apoptotic or genotoxicity mechanisms
S-Sulfocysteine (SSC) is a metabolite derived from the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids. It has been implicated in neurotoxicity observed in children with sulfite oxidase deficiency. The aim of our study was to confirm the neurotoxic effects of SSC using a mouse hippocampal cell line (HT-22) and to investigate the role of apoptosis in these effects, especially in terms of caspase-3 activation and genotoxicity. Based on the viability graph obtained following increasing concentrations of SSC, we determined the LC50 dose of SSC to be 125 mu M by probit analysis. The cytotoxic effects of SSC were not reversed by glutamate receptor blocker administration. However, SSC treatment did not induce caspase-3 activation or induce DNA damage. Our results showed that SSC has a cytotoxic effect on neurons like glutamate, but glutamate receptor blockers reversed glutamate-induced toxicity, while these blockers did not protect neurons from SSC toxicity. The absence of caspase-3 activation and DNA fragmentation, which are indicative of apoptosis, in SSC-induced cell death suggests that alternative cell death pathways, such as necrosis and oxytosis may be implicated. Further research is necessary to fully elucidate SSC-induced cell death.
