Sustainable Materials: Production Methods and End-of-life Strategies
All three natural polymers of biomass and the monomer platforms derived from them present multiple avenues to develop products from specialty to bulk markets, which could serve as entry points into the industry for bio based sustainable materials. However, several roadblocks still exist in the pathway of technology development of these materials due to challenges related to cost-competitiveness, scalability, performance and sustainability. This review outlines these major technical challenges as four key checkpoints (cost-competitive, scalability, sustainability, performance) to be addressed for successful market entry of a new sustainable material

The Swiss Group for Mass Spectrometry (SGMS) is a society dedicated to fostering collaboration among scientists across diverse mass spectrometry fields, ranging from gas-phase ion chemistry to life sciences. SGMS has a strong commitment to educating and supporting the next generation of mass spectrometrists pursuing MSc and PhD degrees. Our membership comprises about two hundred individuals, predominantly from Switzerland, representing academia, industry, and regulatory bodies.[1] SGMS is an Associate Member Society of the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS)
Going with the µFlow: Reinterpreting Energy Input in Organic Synthesis
The popularity of microflow chemistry has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, more and more chemists are switching from macro-batch reactors to miniaturized flow devices. As a result, microfluidics is paving its way into the future by consolidating its position in organic chemistry not only as a trend but as a new, effective, and sustainable way of conducting chemistry, that clearly will continue to grow and evolve. This perspective highlights the most relevant examples of innovative enhancing technologies applied to microflow reactors aimed to improve and intensify chemical processes. The extensive applicability of microflow chemistry is further illustrated by briefly discussing examples of complex integrated microsystems and scale-up technologies, demonstrating ultimately that microflow chemistry has the potential to become the ideal technology for the future
