This study investigates various determinants of financial performance of a company by taking variables such as sales, financial leverage, fixed assets, equity, current ratio, total assets and age of a firm and their impact on growth of firms in Pakistan. In this research, secondary data is used from the listed companies in “Pakistan Stock Exchange” the listed companies on the Pakistan Stock Exchange from 2009-2019 as well as from individual websites of firm’s researcher have calculated age. To estimate the impact of various abovementioned factors on firm’s growth. By use of correlation matrix, descriptive analysis and regression analysis following results are obtained that profitability is positive correlated with growth. Financial leverage and fixed assets are a strong determinant of firm’s growth. The equity has moderate impact on firm’s growth, so it is also a determinant. While liquidity and age of a firm are weak determinant of firm’s growth. The results have also shown that sales and size in form of total assets do not impact growth of a firm. So, they are not determinants of financial performance of a company

INTIMATE CO-CREATION: AN EXPLANATION THROUGH THE LENS OF INTERPRETIVE PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

    Get PDF
The current study is a qualitative research with an inductive approach of phenomenology to elaborate the concept of intimate co-creation. Intimate cocreation is a relatively recent concept that was earlier theorized conceptually and requires an empirical validation. The current study is the first empirical attempt to qualitatively examine this concept of intimate co-creation through the lens of interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). Using a semi-structured interview guideline, eight in-depth interviews were conducted from the employees working in the teamwork environment of different organizations for mutually assigned tasks that required active interpersonal collaboration. Transcribed data of interview cases was analyzed using QDA Miner Lite software. Five emerging themes were identified from the transcribed data and those five themes are proposed to be the potential predictors of intimate cocreation. Coding frequencies and thematic analysis has provided a three factor grouping / categorization of emerging themes. This study would prove to be a milestone for researchers aiming to empirically extend the research work on intimate co-creation

The study explores how people express and represent their workplace boredom on one of the major social media websites, Instagram. With regard to this, four popular hashtags, alluding to workplace boredom, were thoroughly searched for their content (e.g., 531 thousand plus posts), and eight themes were identified for the analysis based on the most common expressions and representations of workplace boredom by the people on Instagram. Thus, the study implies the power of social media used by the people to vigorously express and represent one of the ostensible adverse realities of their workplaces, boredom, which they may not be able to voice otherwise. Moreover, as the study has been conducted in the year 2021, it may be significant with regard to the pandemic which led millions of people to bring their work or offices at homes. Thus, such a change in the context of work (e.g., work-from-home) may have affected the people’s expressions and representations of workplace boredom. Similarly, the self expressions and self-representations of boredom at work by the people may attract the contemporary researchers to construct more prevalent definitions of workplace boredom in their future studie

Management of emerging technologies such as business electronic mail (email) has been a perennial challenge in many developing countries. Amongst challenges to effective management of email are lapses in legal, policy and procedural frameworks, skills and information and communication technology infrastructural deficiencies. The national archival authority in Zimbabwe, the National Archives of Zimbabwe (NAZ), has received a lot of criticism for failing to give direction and help public institutions in managing email in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the NAZ Act (1986) which gives the NAZ a superintending role in the management of records in any format in the country. This paper traces the current interventionist role that the NAZ is playing with regards to the management of email. The article focuses on Zimbabwe’s central government where head offices of 12 out of 22 government ministries participated in the study. This mixed methods research sought to tackle the research question from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives. A total of 240 records officers, administration officers and information technology officers completed questionnaires while seven NAZ archivists, the NAZ director, one Administration Director and one Information Technology Director from central government participated as interviewees. The study revealed that NAZ had of recent begun to play a more proactive role in helping central government manage email properly and professionally although the assistance was not vibrantly felt across the length and breadth of the entire public service

To test the hypotheses of the study, the primary data of 317 respondents was collected through an adopted questionnaire for which representatives of the researchers personally visited the employees working in different NGOs. SPSS was used for data analyses and hypotheses were tested through stepwise multiple hierarchical regression analysis. Based on data analysis, study found that principle and benevolent ethical climates have a significant and positive relationship with organizational commitment while egoistic ethical climate indicated an insignificant relationship with organizational commitment. Thus, by establishing principle and benevolent type of ethical climate, it emerged organizational commitment of employees working in NGOs can be enhanced. The study has some limitations including the cross-sectional design and geographical coverage. The cross – sectional design limited the results to a specific time, while data was collected from Lahore and Islamabad only as a result of geographical limitation compromising the generalizability of the results

RISKS SOURCES AND MITIGATION STRATEGIES IN POULTRY (EGG) PRODUCTION IN THE AGRARIAN COMMUNITIES OF LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

    Get PDF
Poultry farming provides rich source of animal protein and contributes significantly to food security among Nigeria households. However, the poultry sector is largely vulnerable to risk conditions, ranging from natural events, climate disturbances, and human lapses resulting in tumultuous performances of the poultry enterprise. This study was carried out in the agrarian suburb of Lagos State, Nigeria to determine the dominant risk sources in the poultry egg sector, and the determinants of mitigation strategy adoption among egg farmers. Primary data were obtained in a crosssectional survey of 125 poultry egg farmers drawn by multi-stage random sampling across major communities in the study area, and were analysed by both descriptive and quantitative techniques. A risk behavioural model (RBM) was used to estimate the determinants of farmers’ adoption of specific mitigation strategies. From the findings, 62% of the respondents were male, married (64%), formally educated (74%), and of mean age and household size 40 ± 15 years and 4 ± 2 persons, respectively. Average farmer’s flock size was 524 ± 327 layers, 6 ± 5 average years of farming experience, and average gross income of N1,490,000/production cycle. The identified risk factors (response scores and survival propensities in parentheses) were; disease epidemic shocks (1.82, 44.67%); egg glut shocks (1.85, 39%); adverse weather shocks (2.01, 53%); and input price instability shocks (2.21, 60%). Identified lead risk mitigation strategies were strict adherence to routine vaccination regime; advance egg sales arrangement; proper timing/frequency of bird stocking, and advance/wholesale inputs purchase arrangements. Findings from the study established that medically disenfranchised (2.974; p<0.01) and non-remotely located farms (1.682 p><0.1) had higher propensity for routine vaccination/drugs administration to mitigate disease outbreak. Likewise, experienced farmers (2.780; p><0.01) operating farms with less capital-based assets (2.655; p><0.01) would more likely adopt advance sales arrangement to mitigate egg glut shock. With better human skills development (2.173; p><0.05), poultry farmers would likely engage proper timing for birds stocking to mitigate the effect of adverse weather condition on their farms. To enhance farmers’ timely access to major inputs (feeds, drugs and stocks) for a sustainable poultry egg industry in the study area, localisation of farms within policy-regulated areas and proximity to input supply firms were recommended.&nbsp
