ART AS A TOOL FOR ACHIEVING SOCIAL INCLUSION: AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL PRACTICES IN MIGRANT CONTEXTS

This paper examines how migrant artists employ autobiographical art to navigate displacement, negotiate their identities, and promote a sense of belonging in new cultural contexts. In migration settings, art extends beyond fairness, functioning as a site of memory, resilience, and activism that links personal experience with broader social narratives. Adapting a constructivist epistemology, the study combines in-depth interviews with practising artists, autoethnographic reflection, and analysis of creative works. This qualitative approach highlights both individual trajectories and shared challenges, positioning the voices of migrant artists at the centre of interpretation. Findings identify five key themes: Artistic Journeys, shaped by migration, education, and career transformation; Autobiographical Art as Identity, Healing, and Resistance, where art becomes a tool for recovery and advocacy; Heritage and Cultural Continuity, which sustains traditions across transnational spaces; Social Challenges and Structural Barriers, including discrimination and institutional inequities; and Cross-Cultural Collaboration and Social Responsibility, reflecting artists’ commitments to dialogue, community-building, and social change. The analysis draws on Bhabha’s Third Space Theory to illuminate hybrid identities, Narrative Identity Theory to emphasise storytelling and resilience, and Critical Race and Intersectionality Theory to examine structural inequities. Levitt’s notion of Social Change through Art further demonstrates how creative practices catalyse dialogue and collective empowerment. By situating migrant artists’ autobiographical works within these theoretical frameworks, the study demonstrates that art serves not only as a means of survival and identity construction but also as a powerful tool for promoting social awareness and inclusion. It argues that creative practices play a critical role in fostering intercultural exchange and generating transformative change within multicultural societies

FEASIBILITY STUDY THE LEVEL OF IMPORTANCE OF EMPLOYEE VALUE PROPOSITIONS (EVPS) AND FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS (FWAS) TOWARDS WORK-LIFE BALANCE (WLB) IN HONG KONG

To effectively utilize people nowadays, it is essential to understand EVPs and consider FWAs to achieve a WLB.   Retaining employees is key to business success, especially as WLB has become a significant priority for young employees.  Organizations are exploring attractive EVPs and FWAs as HR strategies to attract, engage, and retain talents to address this.  However, there is limited research on the specific needs and preferences of HK employees regarding these workplace offerings.  This study aims to assess the importance of employees in various EVPs and FWAs in achieving a good WLB in HK. A quantitative approach is employed, targeting 200 white-collar employees in HK.  217 questionnaires were collected, 4 (1.84%) were invalid, and 213 (98.1%) data were deemed valid for analysis using statistical techniques such as descriptive analysis, crosstab, correlation, and factor analysis.  Findings indicated that "WLB", "Pay and Benefits", and "Harmony Relationships" were the most significant EVPs.  The preferred flexible working pattern is the "Hybrid Model", but surprisingly the second most common arrangement is "Normal Work Hours".   Notably, "long working hours" were identified as the primary cause of WLB Imbalance, followed by a "Lack of Workplace Flexibility" and "Company Culture".To improve WLB, respondents emphasized the need for "Flexible Work Hours" and the second most common benefits are "Work from Home Policy" and "Company Culture".  Besides, most respondents indicated they would consider quitting their jobs if WLB was not supported.  WLB is important because of "Private Time for Myself", and the second is "Family Commitments".For the FWAs, the data showed that most respondents do not consider FWAs such as varied schedules, remote work, or self-directed work, is likely in HK. Respondents also indicated that FWAs increase both productivity and motivation. The results provide insights for organizations to develop effective EVPs and FWAs that meet employee needs. This is essential for improving WLB and enhancing employee attraction, engagement, and retention. The findings also guide policymakers and HR professionals in HK to support work-life balance initiatives, fostering a more productive work environment for employees and employers

INVESTIGATE THE DETERMINANTS OF TAIWAN FIRMS ENGAGE IN OFDI

In recent years, the trend of Taiwan’s OFDI flows shows growing. How to identify the critical factors for local firms to engage in OFDI successfully and rank their priority becomes an important issue. This article employs the DANP method to explore the criteria and their priority of Taiwan’s MNEs engaging in OFDI. The fourteen evaluation criteria are firstly extracted from past literature and are categorized into four groups; then consult with ten scholars/experts who are excellent in international trade; finally, interview with another fourteen senior managers to collect their practical opinions. The research results reveal that The Operation Environment group is the “main cause-factor” while Market Seeking group is the “main effect-factor” among the clusters. Resource Seeking group has the significant relationship with other clusters and locates at the central role among the four groups. This article also distinguishes the industry into two groups: high tech industry and traditional industry. For high tech industry, the top three important criteria are Geopolitical, Industrial Cluster, and Operating Costs; the last three criteria are Market Size, Market Potential, and Partnership. While the top three important criteria for traditional industry are Operating Cost, Labor Availability, and Market Size; the last three criteria are Home Government Polices, Market Potential, and Industrial Cluster. This article also finds that Taiwan’s high-tech industries should emphasize global deployment to mitigate the impact on parent companies when the business environment in host countries deteriorates. On the other hand, Taiwan’s traditional industries should pursue larger markets and lower production costs, as economies of scale are the primary source of their competitive advantage

Successful launching and marketing new products are primely related to the product manager. Therefore, understanding what defines a qualified product manager is crucial for the success of the company. This paper adopts the DANP methodology introduced by Ou Yang et al. (2008), which integrates DEMATEL and ANP, to investigate the criteria and their priority for a successful product manager. We firstly develop four clusters and review the literature of each cluster to extract its related criteria, resulting in fifteen criteria in total; then consult with 10 scholars/experts; finally, interview face-to-face with 10 senior managers to collect their practical opinions. The expected results include: (1) Identify the critical criteria for becoming a successful product manager; (2) Understand the causal relationships among the sets of clusters of successful product manager; (3) Construct the impact-relationship map (IRM) for successful product manager; (4) Rank the importance of each criterion to indicate their priority in a successful product manager; (5) Provide evaluation criteria for companies when they are searching for product managers; and (6) Provide a reference for those who are aspiring to become product managers

LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS OF DISPUTES CONCERNING THE OUTER LIMITS OF THE CONTINENTAL SHELF IN THE ABSENCE OF CLCS RECOMMENDATIONS

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) Article 76 and Annex II, Section 7, specify the procedures for the delineation of the continental shelf, requiring coastal states to submit scientific and technical data to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) to demonstrate the extent of their continental shelf. In practice, some states have exercised authority over the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles without obtaining recommendations from the CLCS or have been rejected by the CLCS. These states argue that the recommendations of the CLCS are not decisive in delineation. Some of these states have even received support from international court judgments, sparking discussions on the effectiveness of CLCS recommendations and controversies over the validity of delineation beyond 200 nautical miles. This paper argues that since states have inherent rights to their territories, the absence of CLCS recommendations does not preclude them from claiming rights to these areas. In cases of litigation arising from delineation beyond 200 nautical miles, if a state can provide sufficient evidence to prove that its territory indeed extends beyond 200 nautical miles and that its delineation does not exceed the actual limits of its continental shelf, the international court will support the state. However, the court’s support does not equate to the validity of the delineation, valid delineation must still adhere to the procedures stipulated by UNCLOS

LETTER FROM A HUNCHBACK GIRL: FERNANDO PESSOA, MARIA JOSÉ, AND THE FACTLESS AUTOBIOGRAPHY

The brilliant Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa created many heteronyms, four of which – Alberto Caeiro, Álvaro de Campos, Ricardo Reis, and Pessoa himself - could easily vie for the title of Best 20th Century Portuguese Poet. However, this is only four of dozens and dozens of heteronyms that grew out of Pessoa’s rich imagination. Only the last of these heteronyms, Maria José, a nineteen-year-old hunchback girl, dying of tuberculosis, was female. Pessoa’s entire literary production while writing as Maria José was one unpublished letter, detailing her sadness while sitting at her window and staring out at a worker who doesn’t know she exists. Scholars have noted the significance of Maria Jose’s gender, especially in light of Álvaro de Campos’s bisexuality. Others have discussed the role of Maria José as a literary substitution for Pessoa himself, her isolation mirroring his own.  This paper will build upon that theme, exploring the “Letter from a Hunchback Girl to a Metalworker” as a “factless autobiography.” Pessoa used the term “factless autobiography” to identify his The Book of Disquiet, a work that he attributed to another heteronym, or semi-heteronym, Bernardo Soares. Essentially, Pessoa freed himself from the tyranny of actual, specific names and dates, which allowed him to delve to incredible depths. This paper will explore not only Maria José’s letter as a farewell to the heteronyms, but also its role as a “factless autobiography” in its own right

    LIGHTING IN CINEMATIC VIRTUAL REALITY

With the emergence of inexpensive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) systems in recent years, VR has become commercially viable and more widely popular with some 200 million users worldwide. An important role in this take-up has been the development of cinematic virtual reality (CVR). As in any imagery, lighting design is one of the crucial elements in CVR that can greatly enhance the immersive experience in creating a desired look and feel and an engaging environment for the viewers to explore. However, there is currently very limited research on how set lighting can be and is used in CVR productions. This paper aims to fill this gap by reviewing the prevalent concepts for set lighting 360-degree videos which are companioned by examples by studying an existing CVR drama genre experience Wiktoria 1920. This paper investigates four set lighting strategies used in CVR: natural or ambient lighting, practical lighting, hidden lighting, and mixed lighting.&nbsp

WELL-BEING AT WORK: PERCEPTION OF HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGERS- AN EXPLORATORY CONTEXTUALIZATION STUDY

In a context where labor market competitiveness is intense and the quest for productivity is relentless, well-being at work emerges as a crucial pillar and strategic challenge for Human Resources Managers concerning employee performance and retention. HR professionals are increasingly viewed as strategic partners in driving organizational success. This study contributes to the field by deepening the research on HRMs' perceptions of workplace well-being from an employer's perspective. By focusing specifically on how HR professionals perceive and address well-being at work, this research offers valuable insights into their strategic role and the challenges they face. This perspective is crucial for understanding the employer's viewpoint on well-being and for developing targeted strategies that align with organizational goals in Morocco. This study explores the concept of well-being at work from the perspective of HRMs in Morocco through a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews with HR professionals across various sectors. The theoretical foundation is rooted in Karasek and Theorell's Demand-Control-Support model, Ryff's Psychological Well-Being model, and Seligman's PERMA model. We have chosen an integrative research model that combines these theoretical perspectives to offer a more comprehensive understanding of complex phenomena. The study contributes theoretically by applying these models to the Moroccan context, revealing unique challenges and perceptions that enrich the global discourse on workplace well-being. The study emphasizes that focusing on well-being is crucial for enhancing organizational performance, strengthening employer branding, and reducing turnover. Adopting a strategic approach to well-being can significantly improve organizational outcomes and foster a more engaged workforce. By integrating theoretical models with empirical data, this study provides a robust framework for understanding and enhancing well-being at work, thereby contributing to both academic literature and practical management strategies within the Moroccan context
