BUILDING INDONESIAN HUMAN CAPABILITY: REDUCING DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN EXPERTISE IN THE FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING SECTOR
Foreign expertise holds a revered status in the Indonesian Further Education and Training sector, with the notion of ‘Bule’ playing a pivotal role in how international interventions are resourced. Foreign expertise often brings with it many local assumptions, particularly around the sharing of contemporary and start-of-the-art western knowledge, but often in reality this is not practically manifested. It is for these reasons that Maconick (1999) contends that greater emphasis needs to be placed on defining the operational role of local capacity building. The authors believe that greater emphasis should be placed on building local human capital, and this paper describes the engagement process in the design of occupational standards challenging the conception that foreign expertise and influence should be unfettered. While foreign skills and talent can play a pivotal role in developing local human capability, it must be recognised that these interventions must be cultural appropriate and look towards creating a sustainable future where indigenous human resources are given equal standing. The methodology applied reflected a ‘most significant change approach’ (Dart & Davies, 2003) to the evaluation of training methods with an emphasis on workplace engagement
ASSESSING JAPANESE FEMALE COLLEGE STUDENT FEELINGS ABOUT MATHEMATICS LEARNING AREA CONTENTS
This study was designed to examine Japanese female college students’ feelings toward mathematics that they had learned before beginning college study. The 235 surveyed participants were all Japanese college students from the humanities course of a two-year junior college in a local city in Japan. For this investigation, respondents were divided into groups based on their feelings about mathematics. They were scrutinized using conjoint analysis for their learning anxieties about specific learning contents. The analysis consisted of assessing these students’ awareness of ‘being good at’, ‘neutral’, and ‘being not good at’ one specific aspect of mathematics relative to others. These groups were characterized. Results revealed differences in the perceptions of difficulty specific to the learning areas. These findings suggest the importance of providing female students with appropriate learning content from elementary school to high school, depending on their feelings about mathematics. These findings might help teachers plan mathematics learning classes for secondary education

When it comes to external triggers; social, political, economic, and technological changes impact organizational policies and processes. To update these elements, organizations must have a learning culture by adopting a strategic move in its structure. A mixed-approach (theories and survey/interview) study with an investigation on change management and learning organization in selected industrial companies in the UAE, with a sample size of 400, aids to find the relationship between learning organization, change management, and competitiveness. The quantitative and qualitative analysis confirms the significance level of related dependent variables and the acceptance of hypothesis tests. Hence, organizations can utilize the model, strategic learning-change bundle that is crafted from this study towards its competitive advantage. Moreover, this study can further be analyzed with other change management variables as change is a continuous process

RELATIVE CLAUSES AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR STUDENTS’ AND TEACHERS’ GRAMMATICAL AWARENESS
The use of relative clauses in English language teaching and learning is considered as a useful way for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students and teachers to give more information about the head noun of their written or spoken sentences. It modifies a noun or noun phrase (Richards & Schmidt, 1985, p. 494). In spite of the benefits of introducing relative clauses in classroom contexts, there might be some obstacles which students and teachers face in the process of construction and relative clause use. In addition, using the relative clause needs a good understanding of their different types, the punctuation, the right pronoun and the agreement. This paper is based on literature review and will also describe and analyse a complex sentence with a relative clause. The description and analysis will be organised through sentence components analysis, different types of relative clause, the aspects of relative clause construction and use and grammatical awareness development. The purpose of this paper is to help EFL students and teachers have an overall understanding of the aspects of relative clause construction and use, and then emphasize the difficulties, which occur in the classroom context. Accordingly, through a detailed discussion of relative clauses, this paper will determine how the understanding of relative clause construction and use might develop EFL students’ and teachers’ grammatical awareness
