    Get PDF
The speech will start with the difficulty of management and interpretation of the regulatory and organisational complexity of a health context (in particular a hospital) and will try to trace a possible mode of interaction between stakeholders and institutions based on the project work developed, with Doctor Franco Milani, for the Executive master's in strategic management and leadership of health Organizations attended at the University of Pavia during a.a. 2021-2022. EVALUATION OF GLOBAL INNOVATION PERFORMANCES WITH INTEGRATED MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION MAKING METHODS: EU APPLICATION

    Get PDF
In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the measurement of innovation performance of EU countries with integrated multi-criteria decision making methods and to explain the relationships between them and the realized Global Innovation Index (GII) ranking. Since the GII innovation performance measurement problem is defined in an integrated hierarchical structure and solved with this logic, it is thought to contribute to the literature. The input and output sub-indices in the Global Innovation Index 2023 report are defined in a hierarchical structure and an integrated path is followed from the lowest criterion to the target. The criteria weights of the EU countries were calculated by the entropy method, one of the objective weight determination methods, and the weights found were added to the model and country rankings were realized by TOPSIS method. In the calculation of criteria weights using GII scores, Business Sophistication has the highest weight with 0.21, while Infrastructure has the lowest weight with 0.027.After the Global Innovation Index criteria weights of EU countries are calculated by entropy method, the GII scores of 28 EU countries are analyzed by TOPSIS method using each weight and rankings are obtained. As a result of the ranking using the entropy-based TOPSIS method, Sweden, Finland and the Netherlands took the first 3 places in terms of innovation performance. The 3 countries with the lowest performance were Croatia, Slovakia and Romania. These top three and bottom three countries were the same in both the GII ranking and the Entropy-based TOPSIS ranking. In general, the GII and Entropy-based TOPSIS country rankings give very similar results.  The fact that the calculated rank correlation coefficient is very close to 1 supports this conclusion. For future studies using global innovation index data, it may be suggested to model the problem in a hierarchical structure with different methods and to make comparisons starting from the first year the report was published. In addition, it may be possible to conduct different analyses on subjective weighting methods by using the evaluations of decision makers belonging to different professional groups

    Get PDF
This paper examines Jane Austen’s representation of the heroines of Pride and Prejudice and Emma, using Karen Horney’s psychosocial theory of basic anxiety that emphasizes the role of childhood experiences and the impact of socialization on an individual’s psychological development. Firstly, the examination shows certain episodes in the heroines’ early experiences that shape their adult identity and self-knowledge. The analysis reveals that those heroines are highly affected by their parents or chaperones, who themselves may suffer from neurotic problems that impede their ability to properly provide care and support for their children. Moreover, this research delves into how social norms and expectations affect the heroines’ self-image and worldview

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the design concepts of Dutch siege fortifications and the VOC's siege practices in Asia in the 17th century. In terms of "the design concepts of Dutch siege fortifications," mainly based on the theoretical work OF BESIEGING TOWNS AND FORTRESSES (Vant Belegherin Der Steden en Sterckten), written by Simon Stevin (1548-1620), a Dutch military engineer. Stevin had served in the Dutch army as a military advisor to Prince Maurice of Nassau (1585-1625), co-planning a number of sieges. Moreover, he was designated to found the engineering school at Leiden University. Thus, Stevin's works reflect the tactics and design concepts of sieges in the 16th-17th centuries. Regarding "the VOC's siege practices in Asia," mainly derived from the establishment of the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, abbreviated as the VOC) in 1602. Its purposes were not only to gather wealth but also to attack the power of Spain and Portugal. The government empowered the VOC with the rights to recruit troops, purchase quality guns and cannons, and even represent the country to declare war or make peace with the flags of red, white, and blue. As a result, the globe-wide expansion of the VOC led to several sieges in Asia, as well as cross-cultural military exchanges between Europe and Asia

This research delves into integrating aesthetic experience and technology acceptance within virtual cultural activities, with the primary goal of enhancing user engagement. To achieve this, the study employs a meticulously structured questionnaire to assess participants' aesthetic cognition, flow experience, and acceptance of technology. The methodology involves comprehensive data collection from participants engaged in various virtual cultural events, followed by detailed analytical comparisons to understand user preferences and behaviors. The results clearly indicate a strong preference for immersive and user-friendly technological interfaces. This preference underscores the critical role of aesthetic cognition in determining the success of cultural activities. Furthermore, the findings suggest that significant improvements in interactive features could dramatically enhance user participation and engagement in virtual cultural environments, thereby enriching the overall experience and effectiveness of these activities

Despite an increased focus on digital transformation, the telecommunication industry has, thus far, seen limited success regarding the effective transformation of its constituent organisations, both globally and in India. Indian telecommunication service providers (TSP) in particular face tremendous pressure to transform successfully in order to leverage the benefits of digital transformation and meet the current business challenges. This research proposes factors from internal organizational perspective that are essential for the successful transformation. This   study has developed a research framework grounded in multiple theories (Resource Based View, Dynamic Capabilities and Disruptive Innovation) and based on detailed literature review. The research model was tested using responses from a robust sample of 294 domain experts in the Indian telecommunications industry. Empirical results indicate that Digital Capabilities, Digital Strategy and Corporate Level Data Strategy has strong significance on the successful Business Performance, followed by IT Function Transformation, and Digital Innovation.
