EMPOWERING NEURODIVERGENT LEARNERS IN INCLUSIVE CLASSROOMS: A CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING (CRT) PERSPECTIVE: Received:15January2025, Revised:20March2025,14April2025, Accepted:29May2025, DateofPublication:21July2025
The global commitment to inclusive education under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) aims to accommodate the diverse learning needs of neurodivergent learners comprehensively. Conventional teaching methods often underserved the unique learning requirements of neurodivergent learners, such as those with dyslexia. The study examines the impact of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) as an instructional approach, emphasizing the use of culturally relevant learning materials, differentiated and flexible instruction, visual cues, and social emotional learning (SEL) interventions on the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of dyslexic learners. Employing a qualitative research design, the study draws on data from classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with teachers and parents to explore how CRT strategies influence learner development. The findings underscore the positive impact of the aforementioned CRT strategies on academic achievements, confidence-building, learner engagement, peer relationships, and socio-emotional growth among dyslexic learners. The implications of the study extend to linking CRT strategies with the broader goals of SDG 4, promoting an equitable and inclusive educational landscape empowering dyslexic learners
MEMBERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS AND ENGAGEMENT IN AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE FOR TECHNOPEDAGOGY: A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS: Received: 22th February 2025 Revised: 29th March 2025 Accepted: 16th June 2025
This article examines the individual characteristics and motivations of members within a Community of Practice (CoP) that brings together professionals from diverse educational and geographical sectors. The CoP focuses on knowledge exchange and the development of technopedagogical skills. The study was conducted with 134 members from nine countries, featuring a predominance of female participants and substantial representation from Belgium. The research is framed within a quantitative methodological approach. It aims to understand the demographic and professional profiles of members as well as their motivations for joining the community. The findings reveal that CoP members are predominantly experienced professionals with an average age of 42 and high educational attainment, with the majority holding a university degree. Most members are actively engaged in their careers, occupying positions across a wide range of educational levels, from primary to adult continuing education. Finally, the motivations for joining the CoP are primarily related to the desire to acquire new technopedagogical skills and to interact with other professionals from diverse backgrounds. The study also highlights four main predictors of willingness to participate actively in CoP: availability of time, intention to collaborate, interest in an original and innovative learning environment, and desire to learn technopedagogical content
THE LIVED EXPERIENCE OF B.ED. STUDENT TEACHERS DURING TEACHING PRACTICE: THE TRAJECTORY TO BECOMING PROFESSIONALS
This paper explores the lived experiences of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) student teachers during their teaching practice, a critical component of teacher training. Despite its importance, there is limited understanding of the student-teacher's experiences within the teaching and learning environment. The study addresses the following central question: What are the lived experiences of student teachers during teaching practice? Using qualitative research methods, this paper investigates the day-to-day realities of student teachers, considering their challenges, successes, and overall professional development during this formative period. The study is grounded in Social Learning Theory, as proposed by Albert Bandura, which underscores the significance of observational learning, imitation, and modelling in the development of behaviour and professional identity. Bandura’s framework highlights the interaction between environmental and cognitive factors, which shape learning and behaviour. This theoretical approach is relevant to understanding how student teachers absorb knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes from their mentors and the teaching environment, influencing their trajectory toward becoming professional educators. The study employed a purposive sample of 20 student teachers from Central University of Technology, with a balance of 10 third year and 10 fourth-year students. Data were collected through focus group interviews to capture rich qualitative insights into their teaching practice experiences. Thematic analysis was used to identify recurring patterns and themes in the data. Findings reveal that many student teachers felt inadequately prepared for the challenges of the classroom. In several cases, a lack of support from mentor teachers and other institutional role players during teaching practice further exacerbated their difficulties. These gaps in preparation and mentorship contributed to feelings of uncertainty and stress, while simultaneously underscoring the critical need for robust support systems to facilitate the professional growth of student teachers. The paper concludes by discussing the implications of these findings for teacher education programs, suggesting that improved mentoring structures and better alignment between theoretical training and practical application are essential for preparing student teachers to transition effectively into professional roles
ACCESS TO HOUSING FOR MIGRANT SINGLE MOTHERS
This study explores migrant single mothers’ access to housing and its crucial role in family reunification, wellbeing, and social integration. The analysis combines a comparative review of housing policies in three destination countries representing different welfare regimes—the United Kingdom, Germany, and Norway—with 30 semi-structured interviews conducted with Lithuanian single mothers who migrated to these countries. The findings reveal that, in formal terms, migrant single mothers enjoy similar access to housing as nationals (in the case of the UK, prior to Brexit). Nevertheless, they encounter a range of additional barriers, including limited awareness of their eligibility for housing support, language difficulties, discrimination in the rental market, and constraints associated with employer-provided accommodation in remote areas, which restrict independent housing searches. Despite these challenges, access to adequate housing emerges as a fundamental condition for migrant single mothers, particularly as it determines their ability to bring their children to live with them in the host country. Housing also represents their largest financial burden, and securing stable, affordable accommodation significantly reduces stress and economic vulnerability. Furthermore, living in quality housing in well-connected neighbourhoods—as opposed to marginalised or low-income social housing areas—enhances both mothers’ and children’s quality of life by ensuring access to essential services, education, and opportunities for social integration. The study highlights housing as not merely a material need but a cornerstone of social inclusion and family stability for migrant single mothers in Europe
AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ON THE INFLUENCING MECHANISMS OF SERVICE QUALITY, CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, AND BRAND IMAGE ON CUSTOMER LOYALTY
This study is an empirical investigation into the effects of service quality, customer satisfaction, and brand image on customer loyalty in high-end health management centers affiliated with medical centers in Taiwan, and to provide management strategy recommendations for healthcare institutions to enhance customer loyalty. A survey method was used, analyzing customers of high-end health management centers as the research subjects. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed, with 446 valid samples collected. The questionnaire was reviewed by experts for expert validity, and the data met the required standards after reliability analysis. Statistical analysis was conducted on the questionnaire content to test the research hypotheses. Regarding demographic variables, age showed differences across all Dimension. Education level and monthly income showed significant differences in the loyalty construct. Customer satisfaction and brand image have a significant positive impact on customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction having a stronger influence. However, service quality did not have a direct significant impact on customer loyalty. Additionally, both service quality and brand image had a significant positive impact on customer satisfaction, indicating that service quality indirectly affects loyalty through customer satisfaction. It is worth noting that customers with a higher frequency of health checkups had lower loyalty. In the highly competitive health checkup service market, customer satisfaction and brand image are the key drivers of customer loyalty. Although basic service quality is a necessary condition, it does not directly affect loyalty. This suggests that customers take basic professionalism and service for granted. Therefore, if healthcare institutions can go beyond basic services by optimizing the process experience and building a professional yet humane brand image, it is recommended to shift the marketing focus from "quality promotion" to "brand value creation" to establish a long-term competitive advantage in the market
BRIDGING BORDERS, PROTECTING RIGHTS: EVALUATING INDONESIA’S MIXED MARRIAGE POLICY FOR CITIZENS IN CHINA: Received: 24th September 2025, Revised: 27th October 2025, 30th October 2025, Accepted: 10st November 2025, Date of Publication: 04th December 2025
This study examines the implementation of Indonesia’s Mixed Marriage policy for Indonesian citizens residing in China. The rising number of mixed marriages between Indonesian women and Chinese men has brought about legal and social challenges, including cases of exploitation, human trafficking, and unclear legal status. A notable phenomenon is the emergence of informal Mail Order Bride arrangements, where Indonesian women relate to foreign spouses through unregulated networks and digital platforms, often bypassing official procedures and facing significant risks. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyses the effectiveness of existing policies, identifies structural, legal, and social barriers, and evaluates the roles of both Indonesian and Chinese authorities in safeguarding citizens’ rights. Data was collected through interviews, document analysis, and field observations. Findings reveal that weak inter-agency coordination, limited institutional capacity, and unclear bureaucratic procedures hinder effective policy implementation. These gaps leave Indonesian citizens vulnerable to rights violations and legal insecurity. The study recommends strengthening bilateral legal frameworks, providing pre-marital legal education for prospective spouses, and establishing joint verification and protection mechanisms to ensure the dignity, safety, and legal certainty of Indonesian citizens in transnational marriages. This study investigates how Indonesia’s policies on mixed marriages are implemented for its citizens living in China. The increasing trend of marriages between Indonesian women and Chinese men has triggered a range of legal and social issues, including exploitation, human trafficking, and ambiguous legal standing. A particularly concerning development is the rise of informal “mail-order bride” arrangements, wherein Indonesian women connect with Chinese partners via unregulated digital channels and informal networks—often circumventing official legal processes and exposing themselves to serious risks. Adopting a qualitative descriptive methodology, the research evaluates the efficacy of current policies, pinpoints structural, legal, and societal obstacles, and assesses the roles played by both Indonesian and Chinese governmental bodies in protecting their citizens’ rights. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with embassy staff, analysis of official documents, and on-site fieldwork. The findings indicate that ineffective coordination among government agencies, insufficient institutional resources, and vague bureaucratic protocols significantly impede policy enforcement. These systemic shortcomings leave Indonesian nationals—particularly women—in vulnerable positions, susceptible to rights abuses and legal uncertainty. To address these challenges, the study proposes several key interventions: reinforcing bilateral legal agreements between Indonesia and China, instituting mandatory pre-marital legal education for couples entering transnational unions, and creating joint verification and protection systems. These measures aim to uphold the dignity, safety, and legal security of Indonesian citizens involved in cross-border marriages
THE GREAT WAVE OFF KANAGAWA AND THE TAIJI DIAGRAM
Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) created The Great Wave off Kanagawa, a renowned example of Japanese ukiyo-e art, during the Edo period (1603–1868). This iconic masterpiece subtly reflects the philosophy of yin and yang as embodied in the Taiji Diagram. Known for his preference for the S-shaped composition, Hokusai employed this form masterfully—the curling wave and the sky together trace a dynamic S-shape, evoking the Taiji’s symbolic balance. Some Western art historians suggest that The Great Wave was influenced by the Taiji Diagram, a claim supported by compositional and thematic parallels in Hokusai’s other work, The Raging Wave. In that piece, the interplay between male and female wave figures echoes the harmony of opposing forces, similar to the visual and conceptual elements seen in The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Although Hokusai never explicitly mentioned the Taiji Diagram in relation to this ukiyo-e, in my paper I identify five indirect forms of evidence to argue that he may have been inspired by the Diagram when creating this work
CONSUMERS' VISUAL ATTRACTIVENESS TO DMS IN TRAVEL ADVERTISEMENTS: AN EYETRACKING TEST: Received: 6th January 2025, Revised: 14th February 2025, 26th February 2025, Accepted: 2nd April 2025, Date of Publication: 15th July 2025
In recent years, with the booming development of sightseeing tourism, the dissemination of tourism information has become more rapid and extensive, and tourism advertising DM has become one of the important marketing tools to attract customers. Different designs of travel advertisement DMs will have an impact on consumers' purchase intention. In this study, we used eye-tracking tests to investigate the visual attractiveness of DM travel advertisements and to analyze the eye-movement responses of secondary school teachers when they viewed such advertisements. The content of the advertisements consisted of four main elements, namely, the main headline of the tour, the promotional image, the price and the brand name of the tour company. 53 secondary school teachers were invited to participate in the eye-tracking test. The results of the study showed that teachers' eye-movement responses and visual attractiveness were mainly influenced by the main headline of the travel advertisement and the promotional image, whereas branding and price had less influence. Therefore, the design of the main headline and images in travel advertisements plays a key role in attracting consumers' attention and influencing their decision-making time
INTEGRATING ROBOTICS INTO PLAY-BASED LEARNING WITH INNOVATIVE TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR FOUNDATION PHASE STUDENT TEACHERS
This empirical study investigates the integration of robotics and coding into play-based learning for Foundation Phase student teachers at a University of Technology, aligning with South Africa’s Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) goals. Coding, now as essential as literacy and numeracy, fosters computational thinking critical for young learners. Seven robotics devices, Bluebot, Rugged Robot, Oti-bot, Cody Block, Kubo, Dash, and Botley, were utilised to enhance STEM education. While these tools hold promise, effective pedagogy remains vital for early childhood education. Guided by the Positive Technological Development (PTD) framework, the study promotes both technological proficiency and holistic development, encouraging positive interpersonal behaviours. Eighteen Foundation Phase student teachers participated, with data collected via a qualitative survey featuring open-ended questions. Thematic analysis identified key patterns in their experiences. The research addresses: (1) How do student teachers perceive robotics in play-based learning? (2) What innovative strategies effectively integrate robotics and coding? (3) How does the PTD framework shape robotics-focused activities? Findings indicate that student teachers view robotics as engaging, effectively fostering computational thinking through play-based learning. The PTD framework informed activity design, promoting technical and social skills. Unplugged activities and simplified programming languages, such as outdoor grids and coding cards, reduced cognitive load and enhanced engagement. This study underscores the value of developmentally appropriate strategies, preparing young learners for the 4IR.
TEACHER’S CAREER PROGRESSION AND PEDAGOGY PERSPECTIVES: A SPECIAL FOCUS ON THE IMPACT OF PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING AT UNIVERSITIES IN KENYA
The study aimed at a thorough analysis of the impact of teachers’ pedagogical training program which promotes teacher’s career progression, institutional renewal and student learning improvement at higher learning institutions in Kenya. Continuing career progression is a teacher’s formal and informal learning which leads towards his or her enhancement of skills, knowledge and personal attributes such as their attitude towards the teaching profession’s activities which are deemed necessary in carrying on with his or her professional duties successfully and effectively. The study adopted Mixed Methods Design in which a thorough evaluation of thirty-six (36) teachers’ satisfaction with the pedagogical training programs offered at their institution was done. The study discusses the training’s impact on teachers’ perceptions concerning conceptions, teaching practices and their professional development. A questionnaire whose Cronbach’s Alpha stood at 0.874 was used for data collection from respondents whose number was determined through random sampling procedure. Analysis of data was done using descriptive and inferential statistics and results indicated that participants evaluated training programs positively and thus achieved the intended learning outcomes while 85% of the total number of the respondents were implementing what they had learned and were highly satisfied with the content of the training program. Additionally, participants considered the training program as an opportunity for them to acquire new knowledge on active learning strategies and enabled them to explore different teaching strategies which could meet diverse needs of their learners and community. Besides, the researcher has identified important characteristics needed when designing a successful teachers’ pedagogical training programs in higher education and suggests that universities need to organize capacity building seminars that give special attention to the integration of technology to learning activities for teachers and administrators so that they are able to regularly coordinate, direct, and monitor instructional practices for knowledge enrichment and professional teacher development.
