OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCES AS PART OF NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES IN SAM PARNIA'S RESEARCH

This short research was written in the context of the course "paranormal phenomena", and deals with a topic that is difficult to categorize. On the one hand, the phenomenon of near-death experiences (NDE) is quite widespread, almost to the extent that it could be considered "normal" and take its place next to other unexplained experiences that a person can have in the context of various extreme physical conditions and which are continuously recorded in hospitals all over the world. On the other hand, the phenomenon of near-death experiences and within them that of the out-ofbody experience (OBE), escapes and exceeds the "normality" of other experiences that arise in extreme physical situations. For thousands of years humanity has been dealing with the subject of life after death and is looking to find evidence, answers and uncover even a little of the great secret of death. Man has always been interested in the nature of the soul, or in other words, consciousness. In the independence of the soul from the body. Here these two questions are intertwined in a mysterious phenomenon that leaves even doctors/researchers without answers that could be a little definitive

JERUSALEM, AS ARCHETYPICAL “HOUSE” OF BEING RELIGIOUS

    No full text
In this presentation I will try briefly to refer semantically to the archetypical spirituality of Jerusalem (videlicet as a sign of Transcendence) or Zion [deriving from Zedek (compare with Melchi-zedek)], which as names represent the entire Judaism, researching particular Jewish and Greek Orthodox Patristic sources. Origen , Gregory of Nyssa and all Hesych Fathers provide rich, psychological and allegorical interpretation of Jerusalem as every human religious soul

FORGIVENESS AND THE INFLUENCE IN PSYCHOTHERAPY IN DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS

In this concise and general article, we give some basic conceptions of the forgiveness of the grand Religions, making at the same time a comparison of the concept of forgiveness between these Religions or cultures, in relation to the therapeutic dimension of the latter; something that in recent years ―under the science of the Psychology of Religion― has seen the light of day, hundreds of empirical researches, which confirm the most above claim

ORTHODOX RELIGIOSITY AS A FACTOR IN THE PREVENTION OF SMOKING IN STUDENTS OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF GREECE AGED 13-18 YEARS

This multi-level empirical study conducted on a sample of 500 pupils attending the Gymnasium and Lyceum of the American College of Greece investigates the role of religiosity in preventing the use of tobacco products among adolescents aged 13-18 years. The research shows that religiosity in adolescence can, albeit indirectly, create "a protective shield" in the personality of young people and keep them away from the "shackles" of smoking habits and behavior by acting proactively and, at the same time, as a deterrent. Meanwhile, smoking prevention interventions in the family, the school and the wider social environment are of great importance and significance ―however, charged with religious, moral and general spiritual axes― towards protecting teenagers from harmful addictive substances

THE ROLE OF RELIGIOSITY IN COPING WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A REVIEW

The COVID-19 pandemic is an emerging threat to humanity and all methods to address it, if not to control it, are urgently needed. Religion is one of the earliest and most important coping mechanisms. Scientific evidence in this area is accumulating rapidly. Although it is not yet conclusive, it brings to light the many beneficial effects of religiosity on human psychology during this crisis. However, there is a clear need for stronger research

LACANIAN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND PSYCHOLOGY OF RELIGION

This is a study, at the core of which lies the investigation, the understanding and the approach of the religious phenomenon through J. Lacan’s psychoanalysis. Lacan's post-structural approach to every subject leaves the whole question of religious sentiment and religious phenomenon lurking and creeping throughout his work, and our aim is to overcome these barriers, which Lacan poses, thus in order to approach, as accurately as possible, the locus of religion in Lacanian psychoanalysis. Lacan places the "Divine" on the level of the symbolic, thus giving us two crucial elements: firstly, the position of God in the human soul, and secondly, the dangers that arise from a possible expulsion from this position

IMPARTIALITY, EXTROVERSION, AND MENTAL HEALTH OF MODERN ISLAM IN THE LIGHT OF THE PSYCHOLOGY OF RELIGION

This article contains some thoughts-questions, which have arisen with a view to an interactive discussion between (Orthodox) Christian Theology and Islam in the light of the Psychology of Religion. In this short invitation, four issues are briefly presented: (1) the revival of religions and in particular Islam, (2) openness, multi-dimensionality, and resilience of Islam, (3) interfaith dialogue between Christianity and Shi'itic Islam via the Psychology of Religion and the Cultural Psychology of Religion, and (4) the psychotherapeutic nature, and generally the coping, of the Iranian Religion

The North Basilica in Herodes Atticus’ Villa at Eva/Loukou: New Observations on the Architecture and the Sculptural Program.

Τhe excavated part of Herodes’ luxurious residence at Eva/Loukou of Kynouria, modern Arkadia,  covers a surface of 6,5 dinums and has the plan of a typical roman villa. The original phase of the villa dates to the second half of the 1st century A.D., at the latest, and is connected with the family of the fabulously wealthy Athenian entrepreneur, philosopher and Roman official, Herodes Atticus. The North Basilica, an impressive complex with a surface of approximately 1,000 square meters, was intensively excavated in the decade of the 1990s by the former E’ Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (E΄ EPKA). Its preserved ruins date to the second half of the 4th century AD, at the earliest. Recent investigation has concluded that it consists of an apsidal single storey colonnaded hall with rooms attached against its south and west sides. Our documentation has reconstructed the original height of the columns and identified all the features of the superstructure, allowing for a more detailed reconstruction of the building. It is also firmly confirmed that members of structures that date to the late 1st and early 2nd centuries A.D. have been reused for the construction of the North Basilica in its present state, as hypothesized by the excavators. Other features were made from scratch from fine white marble. The round structure in the north east corner of the compound is identified as a staircase well that led to the upper level. The reconstruction of the architecture is combined with comments on the sculpture collection that once adorned this remarkable hall

TRANS-MODAL UNDERSTANDING: The new language of science.

Science is currently facing many challenging conceptual problems. The most serious thing is that we are not considering the facts and the way in which they are understood. The average scientist does not see that there is a conceptual problem in the way in which he approaches, executes and interprets his work. Therefore, there is a problem regarding the awareness of non-deeper on the part of modern (positivistic) science itself of the structure, nature, opportunity and meaning of the world and life. In this article, the holistic model is proposed, i.e., experiential participation and interaction of the scientist as an entire man (right and left-brain hemisphere) with Nature. The inter-modality presupposes a state of mind which enables us not to be too impressed and not to stick to what we perceive. It is possible only if the desire for exclusive spiritual conception is combined with the desire for immediate personal experience through the integration of the self-reported unit of events and situations that unifies space / time without space / time. Preventing confusion makes it easier to understand the world's presence and feel it work
