SAMHC started a new "TREATMENT TEAM" concept that consist of multidisciplinary professionals with expertise in managing mental illness and co-occurring disorders, such as substance use. SAMHC's purpose of a treatment team is to guide a patient towards reaching individual goals and recovery. It provides an opportunity to monitor progress and make timely treatment adjustments. It builds resilience of people with mental illness and supporting those in emotional distress
Modernizing Collections, Claims, and Reporting of Care and Maintenance Fees for Deceased Patients
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health is statutorily obligated to collect fees for care and maintenance of patients that have died with an outstanding balance. While the current process yields funds, the process still relies heavily on sporadic checks of paper files. This project explores the need to improve that process to maximize its ability to collect funds from patient estates and meet statutory deadlines
