Tutkimus- kehittämis- ja innovaatiotoiminnan opetus ja oppimisintegraatio – Kajastuksina ja karikkoina ammattikorkeakoulun henkilöstön kerronnassa
No full textThe integration of research, development, and innovation activities with teaching and learning (RDIT) is a well-known subject in universities of applied sciences (UAS). However, there has been limited research on the perspectives of UAS staff regarding the integration. This study tackles the recognized research gap by posing a research question centered on the narratives formed by staff storytelling regarding RDIT integration. An online survey was sent to the staff of five UASes. 343 responses were received. By applying narrative analysis, five archetypal stories were constructed to demonstrate the RDIT-integration. The narratives illustrate integration: 1) as an individual activity of staff, 2) as a forum for student learning, 3) as a tool for teaching, 4) as a collaboration with the world of work, and 5) as activities directed by institutional structures. The findings reveal the potential, identify the barriers, and support UAS to develop more sustainable and high quality practices for RDIT integration.Tutkimus-, kehittämis-, ja innovaatiotoiminnan (TKI) yhdistäminen opetukseen (O) on tuttu ja myös ajankohtainen aihe ammattikorkeakouluissa. Ammattikorkeakouluhenkilöstön näkökulman tarkastelu TKI:n ja opetuksen integraation on ollut kuitenkin tutkimuksissa vähäistä. Tämä tutkimus kohdentuu TKI:n ja opetuksen/oppimisen (TKIO) yhdistämiseen henkilöstön näkökulmasta. Kyselytutkimus toteutettiin viidessä ammattikorkeakoulussa ja siihen vastasi 343 henkilöä. Vastaajina oli opettajia, TKI-toimijoita ja muuta henkilöstöä. Tutkimuskysymyksenä oli, millaisia tyyppitarinoita rakentuu TKIO:sta ammattikorkeakoulujen henkilöstön kerronnasta. Narratiivisen analyysin pohjalta rakensimme viisi tyyppitarinaa kuvaamaan TKIO-integraatiota. Tuloksina kuvattavissa tarinoissa TKIO hahmottuu monipuolisesti 1) henkilöstön omakohtaisena toimintana, 2) opiskelijoiden oppimisen kenttänä, 3) opetuksen työvälineenä, 4) työelämäyhteistyönä, ja 5) rakenteiden ohjaamana toimintana. Tyyppitarinat kuvaavat eri tavoin TKIO:n kontekstia ja luonnetta, sitä kehystäviä tekijöitä ja henkilöstöä TKIO-toimijoina. Tulokset auttavat ymmärtämään TKIO-integraation mahdollisuuksia ja tunnistamaan esteitä sekä auttavat ammattikorkeakouluja luomaan entistä kestävämpiä ja laadukkaampia ratkaisuja ja käytäntöjä TKIO-integraatioon

Through artistic research, I examined what kind of notation in contemporary music is communicative and how to achieve constructive communication. As this doctoral work shows, the study of communicative notation is much more than just looking at the notes. When building communicative notation, the process inherently involves a collaboration between the composer and performer.Tarkastelin taiteellisen tutkimuksen keinoin, millainen nykymusiikin notaatio on kommunikoivaa ja kuinka siihen päästään. Lopulta kommunikoivan notaation tutkimus oli paljon muutakin kuin nuottien tarkastelua. Kun rakentaa kommunikoivaa nuotinnusta, prosessiin kuuluu luontevasti säveltäjän ja esittäjän yhteistyö.Genom konstnärlig forskning undersökte jag vilken typ av notation i nutida musik som är kommunikativ och hur man uppnår det. I slutändan var studiet av kommunikativ notation mycket mer än att bara titta på noterna. När man skapar kommunikativ notation innebär processen i sig ett samarbete mellan kompositör och utövare

No full textThe influence of the Greco-Roman world is deeply embedded in all spheres of Western culture. Its stories, myths, and classical quotations are woven into everyday language and cultural expression, making their presence in popular poetic forms, such as rap lyrics, unsurprising. This article examines Finnish rap lyrics from the 2010s and 2020s that contain references to the classical world. Notably, references to Greek mythology are the most prevalent, with figures such as the Midas touch and the Trojan horse frequently used as idiomatic expressions. For example, these allusions serve as a means to critique contemporary societal issues and generational concerns, such as consumerism and biodiversity loss, as rap lyrics often reflect the socio-political context in which they are composed. Additionally, quotations from ancient authors are present in the lyrics, appearing in various forms—some as direct citations in Latin, others as modified versions, and some translated into Finnish. Overall, the use of references to the classical world in the analyzed lyrics is highly creative, revealing multiple layers of meaning upon closer examination. Moreover, the lyrics demonstrate that expressions rooted in classical antiquity seamlessly integrate into contemporary Finnish self-expression
Negotiating Translanguaging Space: The Case of Mother Tongue Instruction in Arabic in Sweden
No full textIn this article, translanguaging as a concept is used to study the negotiation of meaning in Mother Tongue Instruction (MTI) in Arabic in a classroom. The case of Arabic makes translanguaging relevant to the diglossic situation between MSA and varieties of Arabic. The aim of this article is to study classroom interaction in MTI Arabic in relation to students’ space for their varied linguistic repertoires. The material used includes fieldnotes, audio recordings from classroom observations in MTI Arabic and one teacher interview. A seamless shuttling between Swedish and Arabic varieties appears. The diglossic situation in Arabic means that while all students need to learn Modern Standard Arabic, the challenges are greater for those students whose language variety differs most from the teacher’s. In this case, the teacher’s Levantine variety was closer to the variety of some students than of others. The critical and creative aspects inherent in translanguaging put issues of student engagement and participation in focus. In this case, the teacher took a central position and students were rather passive, answering questions and completing set tasks. We conclude that the syllabus and teacher education for MTI need to include issues of linguistic variation and, in the case of Arabic, implications of the diglossic situation

Kirja keskittyy taloustieteen valtavirtaan, uusklassiseen taloustieteeseen, ja osoittaa, kuinka juuri tämän näkökannat ohjaavat poliittista päätöksentekoa. Muihin koulukuntiin ei keskitytä, sillä ne eivät määritä poliittista päätöksentekoa. Vaikka taloustiede ensisijaisesti tutkii kapitalistista yhteiskuntajärjestelmää, kirjassa pohditaan myös sen mahdollisuuksia laajentua sosialismin suuntaan. Tämän syvempi tarkastelu vaatisi kuitenkin radikaaleja uudistuksia. Kirjassa keskitytään teoriaan, taloustieteen ja muiden ajattelutapojen perusteisiin sekä niiden merkitykseen poliittiselle päätöksenteolle. Se ei pyri väheksymään käytäntöjen tai kontingenttien historiallisten tekijöiden merkitystä vaan korostamaan teoreettisten ajatusten merkitystä taloutta koskevien ajatustapojen kehityksessä
