Design Approaches to Improve Organic Solar Cells
Organic solar cells (OSC)s are valuable economical and environmental friendly devices capable to generate electricity from sunlight. This is because of their simple fabrication process and minimal material usage in comparison to the inorganic solar cells. OSCs have not been widely commercialized yet because of their relatively low power conversion efficiency and stability problem. It is expected that these obstacles will be surmounted in a foreseeable future upon rigorous research studies performed in the field. This paper is devoted to reviewing the design related strategies that can be taken to enhance OSC performance. These strategies can be accomplished through modulating the architecture of the devices and by considering the alignment of the molecular energy levels between their active layer components
The Effect of Health Literacy Level on the Use of E-Health Applications
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to measure the effect of health literacy (HL) level on the level of use of e-health applications among public employees, excluding health workers serving directly to the public and working in public institutions in the downtown area of Yozgat, Turkey.
Methods: The study is cross-sectional and was conducted in 2021 among public employees. 476 public personnel working in state institutions in the city center participated in the study. Chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA, and multinomial logistic regression were used to evaluate the data.
Results: Of the participants, 64.3% of them were male, 74.9% were married, 45.3% were in the 30-39 age group, and 60.9% were undergraduates. It was observed that 21.5% of the people in the research group had insufficient health literacy (SSL), 41.3% were problematic and 37.2% were sufficient. It was seen that the most used E-health application was E-pulse with 84.9%, followed by Life Fits into Home (LFH) and Central Physician Appointment System (CPAS) (64.3%), and the lowest was the hospitals' online systems (29.1%). The use of E-Nabız (e-Pulse) and E-Devlet (e-Government) SSI applications according to HL level was not found to be statistically significant (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The vast majority of public employees use E-Pulse, and approximately 2/3 of them use LFH and CPAS. Less than half of the participants in the study had a sufficient health-literacy level, and the effect on e-Health practices was not found significant
Pattern and Outcome of Paediatric Non-Communicable Diseases in a Teaching Hospital in Southern Nigeria
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are chronic non-transmissible diseases that are mainly attributable to lifestyle changes. There is a global increase in this category of diseases, which in developing countries constitute an added burden to the already existing burden of communicable diseases. This study aims at determining the prevalence, pattern, length of hospital stay and outcome of children admitted with non-communicable diseases.
Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study carried out in the paediatric wards of our hospital. Data was extracted from records of children admitted within the study period. The data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (IBM SPSS) version 23. The student t-test was used to compare the means between two groups, while an ANOVA was used for more than two groups.
Result: Out of 820 children studied, 32.2% had NCDs with sickle cell disease, neoplasms, and cardiovascular and neurological diseases, constituting the major non-communicable diseases recorded. There was a significantly longer duration of hospital stay and a higher mortality rate in patients admitted with an NCD. There was a significant association between mortality and the category of NCD, with a greater contribution from neoplastic diseases.
Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of paediatric non-communicable diseases, although communicable diseases are still more prevalent among children in this study. This is associated with poor outcomes and a longer duration of hospital stay
Case Report: Gait Deterioration in a Patient with EAST (Epilepsy, Ataxia, Sensorineural Deafness, Tubulopathy) Syndrome
Epilepsy, Ataxia, Sensorineural deafness, Tubulopathy (EAST) syndrome or seizures, sensorineural deafness, ataxia, mental retardation (SeSAME) is a very rare, autosomal recessive disorder resulting from homozygous or compound heterozygous loss-of-function variations in the KCNJ10 gene, affecting <1:1.000.000 individuals. Ambulation problems, such as ambulation delays and ataxia, are common in this syndrome. The disorder can remain undiagnosed in adults due to its rarity. Here, we describe the case of a patient with genetically proven EAST syndrome at the age of 18. The patient experienced a dramatic deterioration in his walking ability 7 years after the diagnosis when he was 25 years old. However, the main reason for gait deterioration was cervical spinal cord compression by cervical disc prolapse which was determined through magnetic resonance imaging during further examinations. Cervical myelopathy caused increased spasticity and gait deterioration in this patient. He underwent single-level anterior cervical decompression and fusion without any complication and improved postoperatively. Although worsening neurological findings in patients with EAST syndrome have been reported, in-depth clinical, radiological, and laboratory examinations can clarify the increasing deterioration in motor functions. Concomitant pathologies can occur, which should be kept in mind for better diagnosis and treatment, especially for patients with EAST syndrome

The Effect of AZ61 Content on Mechanical Strength and Surface Hardness of PA6-AZ61 Magnesium Alloy
In this study, a Polyamide 6 (PA6)-AZ61 magnesium alloy composite and pure PA6 were fabricated using a compression molding instrument. Both the matrix and reinforcement were prepared in powder form. A planetary ball milling machine was employed to mix the PA6 and AZ61 micro powders. The effects of AZ61 content at different percentage on the final properties of the composite were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) were employed to verify the uniformity of the mixing process and to confirm the composition of both the raw materials and the composite. The result, relative to pristine PA6, the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) demonstrated a substantial increment of 48.3%, reaching 58 MPa. Whereas the yield strength (YS) exhibited a notable surge to 49.38 MPa, constituting a 52.9% enhancement. Additionally, the PA6-5AZ61 composition achieved the highest microhardness value at 21.162 HV, signifying a remarkable 66.3% augmentation compared to the unalloyed PA6 material. This result suggests that AZ61 has the potential to improve the properties of the matrix material

Influence of Ovarian Follicle Sizes and Estrous Signs on Pregnancy Following Progesterone-Based Fixed Time Artificial Insemination in Water Buffaloes
The objectives of the present study were to elucidate the importance of follicle sizes and estrous signs during Controlled Internal Drug Release-Synch-human Chorionic Gonadotropin (CIDR-Synch-hCG) protocol for Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI) and to evaluate their association with pregnancy in water buffaloes. Data from riverine buffaloes (n = 207) under the CIDR-Synch-hCG protocol were analyzed. Buffaloes were administered with Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) with insertion of CIDR on Day 0. Prostaglandin (PGF2α) was given on Day 7 with the removal of CIDR. hCG was given on Day 9, and AI was performed on Day 10. Follicle measurements by ultrasonography were done on Days 0, 7, and 10, and follicle sizes on those days were categorized into I, II, and III. Estrus signs were taken on the day of AI. The pregnancy diagnosis was done on Day 30-35 post-AI. The average size of follicles in Category III is significantly higher than those of Categories I and II, regardless of the Days of the protocol. Pregnancy is significantly (P<0.001) associated with Pre-Ovulatory Follicle (POF) size and uterine tonicity on the Day of AI but not with follicle sizes on Days 0 and 7, nor with mucus discharge discharge (P>0.05). The overall pregnancy rate is 44.44% while performing AI with POF size ≥12.0 mm increased the probability of pregnancy rate to 56.25%. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated a follicle size-based CIDR-Synch-hCG protocol providing new fertility indicators to improve FTAI efficiency in buffaloes with huge application in other livestock species
Enhancing Hydrogen Storage in AZ31 Alloy through Pd/G Composite
In this research, we investigated the catalytic effects of Palladium/Graphene(Pd/G) on AZ31 alloy for hydrogen storage. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) were employed to confirm the homogeneous distribution of AZ31 and observe phase changes after mechanical alloying with the catalysts. The hydrogen storage properties of AZ31 with catalysts were systematically examined, and the time of maximum reaction rate for nucleation was determined using Avarami Plot. The results of the study show that the incorporation of 2% Pd/G resulted in the fastest hydrogen absorption and desorption time, taking 200 seconds to achieve 90% hydrogen storage with a maximum of 6.04 wt%. The corresponding maximum hydrogen desorption occurred in 694 seconds, reaching 6.03 wt%. Consequently, the introduction of 2% Pd/G catalyst proved to be effective in significantly enhancing the hydrogen ab/desorption rates of AZ31 alloy
Nitrogen-Rich Perylene Nanosheet Enhanced Bismaleimide Resin
The low toughness of bismaleimide resin (BMI) hinders its application in the aerospace field. In order to improve the strength and toughness of BMI resin simultaneously, this study proposes to introduce perylene-dicyandiamide (P-DCD) nanosheets with an ultra-s rigid conjugated planar structure into the polymer matrix of bismaleimide resin through hydrogen bonding and cross-linking to construct modified composites. The research results showed that the modified cured composites exhibited excellent mechanical properties, with a significant increase in impact strength of 135.8%, flexural strength and flexural modulus of 87.1% and 44.6%, respectively. The thermal properties of the resin were maintained before and after modification, with the glass transition temperature (Tg) of 284.0 ˚C and decomposition temperature > 520 ˚C. Meanwhile, the strengthening and toughening mechanism of the bismaleimide-based system modified by additive P-DCD were also explored. The results showed that the functional group of dicyandiamide in nanosheets and the hydrogen bonding effect in P-DCD synergically increased the cross-linking network and compatibility between P-DCD and the matrix resin
