This survey was aimed at gauging the public's perceptions of sociopolitical change. The project mainly comprised research on the aspects of sociopolitical research in South Africa relating to the President's Council's recent proposals on constitutional change. Among other things, the research includes an opinion poll undertaken countrywide among the different population groups

The Life Circumstances of Blind Women in the RSA, 1981-1982
The aims of the survey were to obtain a comprehensive picture of the life circumstances which white blind women experienced, including their sociological and psychological disposition. The questionnaire completely covers factors such as accommodation and housing, social and family structure, working conditions, training, mobility, leisure activities, church involvement and sympathies, reading habits, media use and so forth. The aim of the project was to make information available to the SANCB for use in planning and in the evaluation of services

An Evaluation of the National Road Safety Council's November 1981-January 1982 Campaign Against Drinking and Driving, Conducted in Pretoria and the Witwatersrand
The aim of the survey was to determine the effectiveness of specific publicity campaigns with regard to road safety. Following on the National Road Safety Council's objectives for its November 1981 - January 1982 campaign against drinking and driving, an attempt was made to determine whether white people on the Witwatersrand and in Pretoria, in the age group of 16 to 64 years, had been exposed to, and particularly to what extent they had been exposed to and were therefore aware of, the publicity material used in the said campaign against drinking and driving; had been impressed by this publicity and therefore realized the dangers of drinking and driving; had decided not to drink and drive as a result of the said campaign; knew about the existing legislation against drinking and driving; found the existing legislation against drinking and driving acceptable; and felt the said campaign had been meaningful, (see also SADA 0006)
Nutrition Counselling Study Among White People in Robertson, Swellendam and Riversdal, 1979, 1983 and 1987
Research on the eating habits of children was based on the assumption that coronary heart disease was largely due to incorrect eating habits acquired at an early age. Attention was focused on (1) the eating habits of babies and toddlers; (2) the knowledge and attitudes of married women with children and childless married women regarding the nutrition of pregnant women, babies and children; and (3) the communication media from which the women obtained information on nutrition, as well as their media preferences
Sport Investigation: Personnel of the White South African Forces, 1981
The objective of this research was to obtain information from male personnel of the South African Forces on the nature and extent of the participation in, attendance at, and service to sport activities, as well as their use of the media in relation to sport. The study also included material on smoking, alcohol, and drug habits in the six months period prior to their joining the forces.
