INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EMPLOYEES' PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM: KUWAIT CASE STUDY
Purpose: Performance appraisal systems have become a crucial tool for organizations in evaluating and maximizing the effectiveness of their employees. It is the main goal of this study to find out how well the employees' performance appraisal system for employees works in Kuwait, paying special attention to how employees and managers feel about it in both private and public sectors.
Theoretical Framework: Performance appraisal systems play a critical role in enhancing organizational performance, employee development, and overall job satisfaction. However, the effectiveness of such systems can vary based on organizational cultures, contextual factors, and the alignment of appraisal practices with local norms. A literature review was a vital step, it established a foundation for this study and guides its design, implementation, and interpretation.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather insights from a diverse sample of employees and managers across various institutions in Kuwait in both of its sectors. The research design allows for the collection of both quantitative data, offering statistical trends and patterns, and qualitative data, providing nuanced perspectives and in-depth understanding.
Findings: Findings reveals a moderate level of agreement, satisfaction, or endorsement of the performance appraisal system in their organizations. Results also demonstrate significant differences between respondents from government and private sectors, in favor of private.
Originality/Value: This research also shed lights on the strengths and areas requiring improvement in such systems which is valuable insights for organizations looking to improve their performance management processes, leading to improved employee performance, engagement, and decision-making
INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO DESIGN-LED INNOVATION FOR ECO-FRIENDLY CUSTOMER-CENTRIC CLOTHING ENTREPRENEURS
Purpose: This article demonstrates how collaboration in a PAR and R&D research project can be facilitated by a design-led innovation process that juxtaposes design and scientific approaches.
Theoretical Framework: The work was theoretically grounded in an interdisciplinary methodology and customer-centric approaches. Researchers adopted a "principles-driven" strategy as a primary guiding principle.
Design/Method/Approach: This study utilized participatory action research (PAR) as a research methodology, emphasizing the importance of collaborations between stakeholders and the research team. The study methodology encompassed on-site visits, SWOT analysis, focus groups, and questionnaire surveys. The data obtained from all of the previously described instruments was subjected to qualitative analysis using triangulation.
Findings: The study demonstrated that this approach significantly enhanced the innovation of new products and the establishment of brands by local businesses. The remaining fabric key rings of the stakeholders had an impact on the most recent clothing collection. The development of new products involved the integration of identity, traditional knowledge, and creativity with modern technology, utilizing local resources from the community for innovative transformation and business product development. By adhering to experts' recommendations, stakeholders can enhance the value of their products by demonstrating a preference for environmentally conscious, culturally significant, and artistically innovative products to the target market. The introduction of the new clothing product range received positive feedback from business owners and entrepreneurs, with an average rating of 4.71. Additionally, the annual sales value increased by 36.3%. PAR R&D facilitated the improvement of stakeholders.
Research, Practical, and Social Implications: Creating eco-friendly apparel from fabric scraps will contribute to sustainability. Obtaining this level of sustainability requires collaboration across disciplines and design-driven innovation. In addition, this study demonstrates how a dynamic interdisciplinary innovation strategy can be effective for generating new product concepts, obtaining consumer feedback, and fostering collaboration and learning across disciplines. Lastly, this study provides other researchers and the local industry with actionable opportunity areas and design imperatives for their sustainability-based product innovation activities.
Originality/Value: This study is the first to apply theoretical concepts to practical situations in a specific rural area to assist local community entrepreneurs lacking resources for research and development in improving their performance and outcomes, with a focus on creating product concepts that reflect the local cultural identity and incorporate innovative design principles
STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODEL OF THE VARIABLES AFFECTING THE BUSINESS PERFORMANCE OF THE RETAIL READY-MADE GARMENT BUSINESS BY E-BUSINESS ADOPTION IN THAILAND
Purpose: The objective of this research was to study the influences that affect the business performance of the retail ready-made garment businesses in Thailand.
Method: The study focused on the use of a qualitative method with a questionnaire as the tool for data collection from a sample of 400 retail ready-made garment businesses. Data analyses included descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis.
Results and Discussions: The factors with the highest means are Customization (mean 5.47), Transactions (mean 5.36), and Supplier Connection (mean 5.30). The multiple regression analysis demonstrated that Customization, Supplier Connection, and Information influence the business performance of retail ready-made garment businesses in Thailand with statistical significance, whereas Transactions do not. Nevertheless, it was also revealed that, in the operation of retail ready-made garment businesses, the value chain for e-businesses includes business performance, production, logistics, the infrastructure of human resources, and finance. E-business adoption influences business performance by beneficially leading to efficient operations and the sustainable growth of organizations.
Research Implications: This disruption, thus, is an opportunity and destruction, which is a challenge for business. Therefore, the business should set the goal for sustainable development by adopting e-business as the key tool to drive the national economy. Furthermore, the use of big data or data analytics would upgrade business efficiency the same as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) that would support business operations, human resource management, and customer information management. Nevertheless, other factors affecting business growth are the use of various platforms, marketing strategies that access the customer widely, reliable services, adoption of technology to e-commerce, and skillful personnel in e-commerce, which would have sustainable positive impacts on the business operation.
Originality/Value: Due to the change in customers’ behavior to become online users, the government sector should set the policy and provide aid to promote the knowledge to the people for employment and careers from the online business that would maximize the value of e-business in Thailand

RE-ADJUSTMENT OF STRUCTURAL DESIGN IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS OF ARCHITECTS: CURRICULAR CUTTING
Research Objective: Discuss the reassessment of the structural conception in the process of teaching and learning two architects, with views not aprimoramento and association with a new reality in the field of construction.
Theoretical Framework: Construct a brief history on the design of structures for graduate courses in architecture, using surveys pointed out in the main works published in the area, to highlight the importance of readjusting the two courses to new market demands.
Methodology: The applied methodology is not present article and bibliographic research, which consists of the analysis of literature related to thematic addressed systematically on the subject of teaching-learning of structures for graduate courses, in architecture. It is important to highlight that bibliographic research, in accordance with rigorous scientific standards, becomes essential for the construction of quality scientific work, updated, consistent and theoretically founded. Foram used books, newspapers, articles and Internet sites, among other sources.
Results: There are several problems not in the teaching of structures in schools of architecture and urbanism, such as purely expository classrooms and teaching programs distant from current professional practice, which leads us to conclude that the Structural Chain of Two Courses presents gaps in its composition, for not making integration between other disciplines, not being updated with new market demands or the adoption of didactic resources with qualitative knowledge on structural behavior, or which results directly in failures in the technological training of architects.
Theoretical and Practical Contributions: Faced with new market demands and surveys put forward during the research, or present work possibly relevant to the topic
