DIGITAL FINANCIAL SERVICES AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE QUOTED COMMERCIAL BANKS IN NIGERIA
Objective: The study aims to examine the causal relationship as well as short-term and long-term dynamic effects between digital financial service components and on the performance of the quoted commercial banks.
Method: The study employs a cross-sectional descriptive survey research with ex-post facto research. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze responses and opinions, while inferential statistics including the dynamic Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) approach, Panel Granger Causality Test.
Results: The Granger Causality analysis reveals that Agency banking exhibits a strong causal link to ROA (p=0.003<0.05), emphasizing its predictive power for ROA variations. Also, ATM banking has a weaker influence on ROA (p=0.08>0.05), while internet banking (p=0.049<0.05) and mobile banking (p=0.0001<0.05) both impact ROA significantly. The long-term analysis using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model indicates that agency banking (β=0.128, p < 0.05), ATM banking (β=0.566, p < 0.05), internet banking (β=0.514, p < 0.05), and POS activities (β=0.118, p < 0.05) all have positive impacts on ROA. In the short term, these variables also show positive coefficients, suggesting immediate effects on ROA. Error correction (ECTt−1) has a negative coefficient (β=-0.06, p < 0.05), indicating its role in short-run adjustments to deviations from long-run equilibrium. Overall, agency banking, ATM banking, internet banking, and POS activities are crucial drivers with strong statistical significance, while mobile banking has limited influence on ROA. Based on these findings.
Conclusion: The study recommends that financial institutions should strategically prioritize agency banking services and enhance internet banking services to positively impact ROA. Resource allocation for ATM banking should be reevaluated, and POS-related strategies may not be a priority for improving ROA. Additionally, financial institutions should adopt a long-term perspective when planning and implementing these services, and invest in enhancing their digital financial services to boost customer satisfaction, fostering loyalty and retention
A FRAMEWORK FOR TRANSFORMING CORPORATE PURPOSE INTO ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE
Purpose: One of the most powerful and talked about approaches in the management and leadership of modern business today is Organisational Purpose. When placed at the heart of strategy, it is said to increase employee engagement exponentially, resulting in the unlocking of human potential, lighting up passion and enthusiasm within people, and beating the line in financial performance through overservicing and delighting customers, by as much as 42% compared to the stock market. However, as much as Organisational Purpose is heralded as the core motivation behind the sustainable success of any organisation, 90% of these purpose-led strategies fail in implementation. The article investigates this phenomenon.
Theoretical Framework: This study falls within the framework where leadership and strategy implementation meet. One of the most profound gaps identified during the literature reviewed for this article is that the purpose (‘deep self’) of an organisation cannot be defined or even implemented without defining the individual purposes (‘deep self’) of its leadership, in that an organisation can only ever be as conscious as its leader.
Design/ methodology/ Approach: This study, therefore, sets out to create a framework that can guide leaders towards implementing corporate purpose into organisational culture through raising leadership and organisational consciousness and, in doing so, overcoming this persisting barrier to implementation. By choosing Action Design Research as the methodology for this research, the researchers co-create a potential solution with 14 Chief Executive Officers, each a market leader within their diverse industries.
Findings: A solution that suggests that the successful transformation of corporate purpose into organisational culture lies at the intersection of the individual purpose of each executive leader, the purpose of the organisation, and the individual purpose of each of its employees. Against the plethora of existing frameworks, which are by and large said to be unsuccessful in the face of implementation failure, the framework presented as a product of this study offers an alternative solution.
Research, Practical & Social Implications: A practical solution that puts the potential of people at its heart is offered as a framework for implementation.
Originality/Value: The framework is called: ‘The Growing Greatness Implementation Framework’. This presents a new and unique contribution to the current literature about Strategic Business Management

HUMAN CAPITAL AND ABSORPTION CAPACITY IN THE MAQUILADORA INDUSTRY IN NORTHEASTERN MEXICO: THE EFFECTS ON INNOVATION
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of human capital and absorption capacity on innovation in the maquiladora industry in the northern region of Mexico.
Theoretical Framework: Potential and realized absorptive capacity play different yet complementary roles (Demuner-Flores et al., 2018; Leal-Rodríguez & Albort-Morant, 2015; Zahra & George, 2002). Cassol et al., (2016) confirmed the mediating role of absorptive capacity in the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation and determined that there is a positive relationship between intellectual capital and innovation.
Method: The hypotheses and the model proposed have been tested with a quantitative explanatory research design that involves the application of a questionnaire. The technique for data analysis is SEM. The statistical software used was AMOS and SPSS version 24. The sample was composed of 127 companies.
Results and Discussion: Human capital was found to have a positive and significant effect on absorption capacity. However, the human capital variable in its specificity dimension had a positive effect, but not significant in innovation, contrary to the effect of the value dimension, which had a positive and significant effect on innovation. Absorption capacity had a positive effect on innovation.
Research Implications: The companies under study focus on encouraging the performance of routine activities, not on developing innovative products and processes through the absorptive capacity.
Originality/Value: It was the first study carried out in a national context on the constructs (human capital, absorptive capacity and innovation) in the maquiladora industry, contributing to identify human capital as an investment.
