    EXAMINING THE ROLE OF FOOD WASTE MANAGEMENT IN COST EFFICIENCY WITHIN GREECE'S TOURISM INDUSTRY

    Objective: The purpose and purpose of this study is to examine how food waste is managed in the tourism sector (hotels and restaurants) that offer food in Greece and how they deal with the relationship between food waste and the cost of operating their food service divisions.   Theoretical Framework: Recent literature has reported on important aspects of food waste in the tourism sector. However, there is much more to be explored and implemented. This paper investigates the critical role of food waste management in cost optimization within the Greek tourism industry.   Method: The study is based on a literature review on the food wastage of foodservice operators in the tourism sector in Greece managing food waste and how they address the relationship between food waste and the operating costs of food service divisions.   Results and Discussion: A review of the literature suggests that the issue of food waste, particularly in hotels and restaurants, has been much more researched in the last five years. The results showed multiple approaches, namely: preventing food waste, donating uneaten food to those in need, recycling and composting leftovers, taking advantage of technological developments and raising awareness about food waste.   Research Implications: The study is expected to enrich theoretical developments on food waste in the tourism sector. The findings are also expected to shed light on multiple approaches to food waste, especially in hotels and restaurants.   Originality / Value: Multiple approaches to food waste in the tourism sector are reported

    A STUDY OF EVOLVING CLOUD COMPUTING DATA SECURITY: A MACHINE LEARNING PERSPECTIVE

    Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the application of machine learning (ML) techniques in enhancing cloud security, with the aim of improving threat detection and mitigation strategies for cloud-based systems.   Theoretical Framework: In this research, the main concepts and theories that underpin the research are presented. Cloud security frameworks and ML-based security methodologies stand out, providing a solid basis for understanding the context of the investigation.   Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises an investigative study on cloud computing, focusing on key security vulnerabilities and the role of ML-based solutions. Data collection was carried out through an analysis of security challenges, including unauthorized access, data breaches, denial-of-service attacks, and insider threats.   Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that ML-based security solutions significantly enhance cloud security by enabling early threat detection and effective mitigation strategies. In the discussion section, these results are contextualized considering the theoretical framework, highlighting the implications of ML in cloud security.   Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing insights into how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of cloud security. These implications could encompass cybersecurity frameworks, cloud service providers, and industry regulations.   Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the effectiveness of ML-based security mechanisms in addressing cloud vulnerabilities. The relevance and value of this research are evidenced by its potential impact on improving security measures in cloud computing, guiding future research on optimizing ML models and developing more robust security mechanisms

    Objetivo: Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a relevância científica e tecnológica do tungstato de prata (Ag₂WO₄) no desenvolvimento de tintas antimicrobianas, por meio de uma abordagem combinada de bibliometria e patentometria.   Referencial Teórico: A fundamentação teórica aborda conceitos relacionados ao uso de biocidas em tintas, nanotecnologia e impactos ambientais.   Método: Quanto à metodologia, esta compreende uma análise bibliométrica nas bases de dados Scopus e Web of Science, complementada por uma pesquisa patentométrica baseada em informações do Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) e da plataforma WIPO-PATENTSCOPE.   Resultados e Discussão: Os resultados revelam um crescimento significativo na produção científica e tecnológica relacionada a biocidas em tintas, com destaque para o aumento do interesse no tungstato de prata. A análise aponta para uma convergência entre pesquisas acadêmicas e registros de patentes, evidenciando o potencial do material no contexto da nanotecnologia aplicada à formulação de tintas com propriedades antimicrobianas.   Implicações da Pesquisa: Além disso, o estudo oferece insights valiosos para a indústria de revestimentos, sinalizando a viabilidade do tungstato de prata como uma alternativa sustentável aos biocidas convencionais.     THE IMPACT OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING ON ACADEMIC STAFF WELFARE IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH WEST, NIGERIA

    Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of collective bargaining on the welfare of academic staff in federal universities located in South West Nigeria, focusing on six selected institutions.   Theoretical Framework: The research is framed within the context of labour relations theory, exploring how collective bargaining as a mechanism influences various welfare dimensions of academic staff.   Method: A quantitative research approach was adopted, utilizing a descriptive research design. The study's population comprised academic staff from the six universities, with a sample size of 377 participants determined through the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analysed using statistical techniques to assess the relationship between collective bargaining and staff welfare.   Results and Discussion: The results indicate a significant negative impact of collective bargaining on academic staff welfare (β=-0.494, p<0.05). Contrary to its purpose, collective bargaining has not adequately addressed welfare issues, potentially worsening existing challenges faced by academic staff in the studied universities. The discussion emphasizes the need for improved bargaining strategies to promote staff well-being.   Research Implications: The study's findings highlight the importance of developing more effective and collaborative collective bargaining processes. These are critical for enhancing welfare outcomes and addressing systemic challenges within federal universities.   Originality/Value: This research contributes to the literature on collective bargaining by providing empirical evidence from the Nigerian higher education sector, revealing its counterproductive effects on academic staff welfare. It offers practical insights for policymakers and unions in designing more strategic negotiation frameworks

    ASSESSING THE FINANCIAL LITERACY OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISE OPERATORS IN NIGERIA

    Objectives: This study assessed the financial literacy of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Osun State, Nigeria, recognizing their critical role in local and national economic development. The research aimed to explore the relationship between financial literacy and financial behaviour among SME operators and to identify factors influencing financial literacy.   Theoretical Framework: The study was grounded in Behavioural Finance Theory, which suggests that financial decisions are influenced by psychological and behavioural factors, helping to understand how financial literacy shapes the financial behaviour of SME owners and managers.   Method: A quantitative approach was used, targeting registered members of the Nigerian Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI) in Osun State. From a population of 1,622 business owners and managers, a sample of 313 respondents was selected using the Krejcie and Morgan formula. Structured questionnaires were employed for data collection, ensuring reliability and comprehensive coverage.   Results and Discussion: The findings revealed a weak but statistically significant relationship between financial literacy and financial behaviour among SMEs in Osun State. While operators showed awareness of financial concepts, they struggled to effectively apply this knowledge in their decision-making. The results emphasize the need for targeted financial education and greater access to financial tools.   Research Implications: This study offers valuable insights for policymakers and educators by advocating for a holistic strategy to improve financial literacy. Enhancing financial knowledge and resource access can foster economic growth and sustainability among SMEs.   Originality/Value: This research contributes to the limited literature on SME financial literacy in Nigeria and highlights the importance of addressing behavioural factors to improve the financial well-being of SMEs

    ECONOMIC IMPACT OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON INNOVATION PERFORMANCE: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY IN TECH STARTUP ECOSYSTEM

    Objective: In an age when competitive advantage needs to be sustained through innovation, especially in the very fast and dynamic tech industry, good practices in project management make a vital contribution toward successfully manoeuvring through the complexities of innovation projects. This study highlights the economic implications of project management on innovation performance within technology-based ventures, particularly in Saudi Arabia’s evolving tech ecosystem.   Method: An empirical analysis of 372 responses using an SEM approach investigates the alignment of innovation objectives with project management practices by identifying key factors that contribute to innovation performance in an evolving tech ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.   Results and Discussion: The research concluded that good project management practices can, to a high extent, enhance the innovative capability of tech startups, whereby the converted ideas can come into existence and be taken from the idea level to the marketplace.   Research Implications: The practical implications of the research were to recommend ways in which tech startups and other firms can enhance their innovation performance by embracing best practices in project management. This implies that by coupling these economic practices with strategic innovation objectives, by fostering collaboration, and by managing resources and risks efficiently, organizations can substantially enhance their innovation capacity and ensure long-term success in competitive markets.   Originality/Value: This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge at the border between project management and innovation and can contribute something new for both practitioners and policymakers within the tech environment

    STRATEGIC PLANNING AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH E-GOVERNMENT: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

    Purpose: This article aims to explore the relationship between strategic planning and e-government, investigating how effective strategic planning can improve e-government initiatives and enhance public service quality. By conducting a systematic literature review (SLR), the article assesses the application of strategic approaches to the digital transformation of public administration.   Theoretical Reference: The study builds on the theoretical framework of e-government, digital government, and the strategic management of ICT. Key references include B. Kitchenham's guidelines for systematic reviews and insights from the literature on the role of strategic planning in modernizing public services and enhancing government efficiency.   Method: A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following B. Kitchenham's (2007) guidelines. Primary studies were selected based on relevance, quality, and coverage of strategic planning and e-government topics. The research protocol included search strategies, selection criteria, data extraction, and synthesis from high-quality digital sources such as Scopus, ProQuest, and Science Direct.   Results and Conclusion: The findings reveal that strategic planning is integral to the success of e-government programs, driving improvements in accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in public services. The study highlights that countries with more robust strategic frameworks, such as Indonesia and China, are at the forefront of implementing effective e-government systems. The integration of ICT into strategic government planning results in enhanced public trust and service delivery.   Implications of Research: The research provides a comprehensive reference for policymakers and academics on the importance of incorporating strategic planning into e-government initiatives. The insights can guide the design and implementation of more efficient and citizen-focused e-government systems.   Originality/Value: This article offers an original contribution by systematically reviewing the literature on the relationship between strategic planning and e-government, filling a gap in the current understanding of how these elements interact to improve public sector performance in the digital age.O governo eletrônico desempenhou um papel fundamental nas últimas três décadas, facilitando a prestação eficiente e suave de serviços públicos, visando principalmente atender às necessidades dos cidadãos. No entanto, a aplicação imperfeita e mínima do planejamento estratégico levou ao fracasso dos programas de governo eletrônico em muitos países. Este documento apresenta uma revisão sistemática da literatura (RSL) para avaliar o estado da arte, focando na importância de aplicar abordagens estratégicas para melhorar o funcionamento do governo eletrônico e aumentar a qualidade dos serviços públicos. A RSL segue as diretrizes propostas por B. Kitchenham e as recomendações delineadas na Revista Logos Ciência & Tecnologia. Os resultados revelam que o planejamento estratégico é crucial para as ações governamentais no desenvolvimento de tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC) em benefício dos cidadãos, levando à melhoria da qualidade dos serviços públicos, tornando-os mais acessíveis, eficientes e participativos.     BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF PUBLICATIONS AND AUTHORS ON STOCHASTIC DEMAND INVENTORY MODELS IN PHARMACEUTICAL SUPPLY CHAINS

    Objectives: The study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis of research on stochastic demand inventory models within pharmaceutical supply chains, focusing on identifying key trends, influential contributions, and collaboration networks that have shaped the field between 2018 and 2024.   Theoretical Framework: The analysis is grounded in the theory of inventory management under uncertainty, particularly in the context of the pharmaceutical industry, where demand variability presents significant challenges for supply chain optimization.   Method: A systematic review of 39 articles published between 2018 and 2024 was conducted. Keywords related to stochastic demand and pharmaceutical supply chain inventory management were used to select the studies. Bibliometric tools were employed to evaluate publication trends, citation counts, author collaboration networks, and emerging research topics.   Results and Discussion: The analysis revealed a concentration of research efforts on optimizing inventory levels to manage uncertain demand. Key authors in the field have contributed significantly, as reflected in high citation counts, establishing them as influential figures. The study also notes an increasing trend of interdisciplinary and international collaborations, along with the adoption of advanced stochastic modeling techniques.   Research Implications: The findings suggest that further research should continue exploring interdisciplinary approaches and advanced modeling techniques, as these areas show potential for practical advancements in managing pharmaceutical supply chains under uncertainty.   Originality/Value: This study offers a focused bibliometric analysis of the recent developments in stochastic demand modeling for pharmaceutical supply chains.     Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the evolution of date production in Algeria and its impact on the country's national income (GDP) from 2000 to 2019. This research aims to analyze the short-term and long-term relationships between date production and national income, assessing the significance of agricultural policies in enhancing the productivity and economic contribution of the date sector. Ultimately, the study seeks to highlight the role of date production in diversifying Algeria's exports and contributing to sustainable economic growth.   Theoretical Framework: This study explores the relationship between date production and national income in Algeria, using agricultural productivity theory, endogenous growth theory, export diversification theory, and the ARDL model. It aims to understand the impact of agricultural policies, human capital investment, and export diversification on Algeria's date production, highlighting the potential for economic diversification.   Method: This study analyzes the relationship between date production and Algeria's GDP from 2000 to 2019, using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. Data sources include Algeria's GDP and date production data. The study uses unit root tests, bounds testing, and error correction models to estimate the relationship. Statistical software like EViews or R is used for analysis.   Results and Discussion: The study reveals a positive relationship between date production and national income in Algeria from 2000 to 2019. The data suggests that agricultural policies have led to an upward trajectory in date production, while GDP has grown significantly. The study also highlights the importance of date production in Algeria's economy, particularly in diversifying exports. The long-term relationship suggests sustained investment in date production will yield continued benefits for national income.   Research Implications: The study highlights the importance of supporting agricultural policies that enhance productivity in Algeria's date sector. It suggests broader export diversification strategies, infrastructure development, and economic development. Strengthening date production can create job opportunities, stimulate rural development, and contribute to food security. Future research should explore other agricultural products, climate change, and technological innovations to improve yields and sustainability in the sector.   Originality/Value: The study explores Algeria's date production and national income relationship, providing insights for policymakers to diversify the economy beyond hydrocarbons and foster sustainable growth

    MODEL OF CHARACTERISTICS OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE ORGANIZATIONS INFLUENCING THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF THAILAND

    Purpose:  To develop a model that explores the characteristics of high-performance organizations and their impact on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the central region of Thailand.   Theoretical framework: The performance of an organization involves two variables: 1.) Financial results, including metrics such as higher returns on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), leverage ratio, earnings growth, and return on investment (ROI) (The Stock Exchange of Thailand, 2022). 2.) Organizational leadership and governance results, emphasizing the pivotal role of senior leaders in organizational leadership and governance, financial accountability, legal compliance, ethical conduct, social responsibility, and community support was assessed using four aspects adopted from Kajornatthapol P. and Surachai U., (2011).   Design/methodology/approach: The study analyzed international publications on blended learning in management and business, focusing on authors, journals, and cooperation between countries. It employed a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire to gather data from SME executives in Thailand's central region (3,283 cases). Sampling used nonprobability and purposive methods, with a sample size suitable for structural equation modeling (SEM). The questionnaire comprised four parts assessing organizational characteristics, performance, respondent information, and opinions. Financial results were evaluated on a 5-level scale. Content validity was ensured through expert evaluations, and reliability was confirmed via Cronbach's alpha (0.86) and item-total correlation (>0.30). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, and various evaluation indices. The research aims to enhance understanding of high-performance SMEs in Thailand's central region.   Findings: The research findings indicate a growing volume of studies on high-performance organizations in the context of SMEs in Thailand's central region, with a limited number of influential authors, institutions, and journals. The model developed successfully aligns with empirical data, revealing positive impacts of organizational leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, knowledge management, workforce focus, and operations focus on SME performance. These findings underscore the importance of promoting awareness of these factors within the Thai SME sector to foster more high-performance enterprises, aligning with Thailand's development goals. The research contributes valuable insights applicable not only locally but also globally, emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices aligned with Thailand 4.0 and collaborative efforts between government and private sectors for national sustainability. Research, Practical & Social implications: The research yields significant implications for research, practice, and society. It sets a foundation for future studies on high-performance organizations in SMEs, emphasizing leadership, strategic planning, and customer focus. Moreover, it enhances executive education by offering insights into organizational performance improvement. Practically, it guides SMEs in Thailand and beyond to optimize operations and achieve sustainable growth through the adoption of high-performance characteristics. Policymakers can leverage these findings to design initiatives supporting SME development, aligning with economic goals. Societally, the research underscores the importance of sustainability and responsible practices, advocating for knowledge management and strategic alignment with national plans. Collaboration between government, private sectors, and civil society is vital to promoting sustainable business practices and fostering inclusive growth.   Originality/value:   The research demonstrates a growing number of publications in the field of management and business, particularly in co-authorship with leading countries. It highlights the significance of the Model of Characteristics of High-Performance Organizations in understanding and enhancing SME performance in Thailand's central region, contributing to the existing body of knowledge
