A Study on the Impact of Policies on the Hydrogen Energy Industry in China on the Stock Prices of Hydrogen Energy Listed Companies

    No full text
In recent years, advancements in scientific and technological innovation, along with continuous product upgrades in the hydrogen energy industry, have facilitated its maturation and expanded its applications across various sectors, including transportation, chemical manufacturing, and energy. The development of the hydrogen energy industry plays a critical role in promoting sustainable economic growth and addressing global energy challenges. This study examines the impact of hydrogen industry policy events on the stock prices of listed companies. Grounded in signaling theory, we employ the event study methodology to analyze the effects of five major hydrogen industry policies implemented by the Chinese government between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2024. Using a sample of 50 representative publicly traded companies, our findings indicate that: (1) hydrogen energy industry policies exert a short-term influence on the stock prices of listed hydrogen energy firms; (2) different types of policy events generate varying degrees of stock price volatility; and (3) positive policy events are positively correlated with short-term stock price performance. This paper contributes to the finance literature by extending the application of the event study methodology to the hydrogen energy sector, providing empirical evidence on the relationship between industrial policy announcements and stock market reactions. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders, supporting the development of China's hydrogen economy and informing policy design in other markets, including Japan.島田章准教授定年退職記念号In Honour of Associate Prof. Akira Shimada経営と経済, 105(3), pp.19-52; 2025departmental bulletin pape

Flexible Loading Phase Treat-and-Extend Regimen with Faricimab for Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration: A Real-World Study

Background/Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a flexible loading-phase treat-and-extend regimen using faricimab, in which the number of loading-phase intravitreal injections was tailored to individual disease activity. Methods: This observational cohort study included 50 treatment-naïve eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration, treated with faricimab in Japan; approximately half of the eyes had polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). Disease activity after one injection was assessed at the second visit (4 weeks later) to determine the treatment interval for subsequent injections. The primary outcome measure was the injection interval and visual/anatomical outcomes at 1 year after treatment initiation. Results: Of the 50 eyes, 43 completed a 1-year follow-up, including 27 eyes with PCV. The mean logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity improved from 0.35 ± 0.32 to 0.19 ± 0.3 over 1 year. Overall, 60.5% achieved 16-week intervals, and 74.4% reached intervals of ≥12 weeks. A shorter loading phase (two or three injections) was associated with fewer total injections and higher rates of fluid resolution, without compromising visual outcomes. The presence of PCV and ellipsoid zone disruption were identified as risk factors for failure to extend treatment intervals beyond 16 weeks. Conclusions: A flexible loading-phase treat-and-extend regimen using faricimab yields outcomes comparable to those of the TENAYA protocol, with fewer injections, despite the high proportion of eyes with PCV. This simple approach is straightforward in design and may reduce treatment burden while maintaining efficacy.Biomedicines, 13(12), art. no. 2909; 2025journal articl

The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Hepatitis D Coinfection in Iran’s General Population Over the Past 25 Years: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Concurrent HBV, HCV, and HDV infections pose a global health challenge, worsening disease, treatment, and patient outcomes, and burdening healthcare. In Iran, no comprehensive review has assessed HBV/HCV and HBV/HDV coinfection rates. This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis per PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The study was prospectively registered in PROSPERO (CRD420251007210). A comprehensive search was conducted across international (PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library) and Iranian databases (SID, Magiran), supplemented by Google Scholar, for studies published between January 2000 and March 2025. Eligible studies reported laboratory-confirmed cases of HBV, HCV, and/or HDV coinfections using ELISA, PCR, or real-time PCR. Because HDV replication depends on hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), biologically independent HCV/HDV coinfection cannot occur. Consequently, studies that reported HCV/HDV coinfection without HBV were excluded. Two researchers independently conducted screening and data extraction and assessed study quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). To account for variability across studies, a random-effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence and its 95% confidence interval. Our analysis included 99 studies, encompassing more than 182,000 participants from regions of Iran. The pooled prevalence rates were 3% for HBV/HCV coinfection, 7% for HBV/HDV coinfection, and 1% for triple HBV/HCV/HDV infection. Due to significant heterogeneity across studies, random-effects models were used to obtain combined estimates. Substantial heterogeneity (I² up to 98%) was observed, attributable to variations in study populations, geographic regions, and diagnostic methods, as confirmed by sensitivity analyses and meta-regression. Publication bias was evident in most analyses. Key risk factors included blood transfusions, injection drug use, incarceration, and chronic liver disease. These findings underscore the urgent need for tailored prevention and surveillance programs. The high prevalence of coinfections in Iran, coupled with marked regional and population-based disparities, calls for standardized diagnostic protocols and targeted interventions that address behavioral and healthcare-associated risk factors.Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health, 16(1), art. no. 2; 2026journal articl

Are Meteorological Factors, Seasons, and Time of Onset Associated With Acute Scrotum? A Comparative Study of Testicular Torsion and Torsion of the Appendix Testis or Epididymis

    No full text
Introduction: Testicular torsion (TT) and torsion of the appendix testis or epididymis (TATE) are common causes of the acute scrotum, but differentiating them remains difficult. While meteorological factors have been linked to TT, their clinical significance is unclear. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed TT and TATE cases diagnosed via surgical exploration at Nagasaki university hospital (June 2018-March 2023). Clinical findings, seasonal variations, and meteorological factors—including temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity—were evaluated. Results: Among 53 cases (31 TT, 22 TATE), TT patients were significantly older (median: 14.0 years, p = 0.026) and more frequent in winter (p = 0.023). TT onset correlated with lower maximum, minimum, and ambient temperatures (p = 0.010, 0.024, 0.006). Over 90% of cases between midnight and 8:00 am were TT. Conclusion: TT is associated with lower temperatures, winter, and midnight to morning onset. These findings may enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making.Sage Open Pediatrics, 12; doi:10.1177/30502225251325657; 2025journal articl

Refractory and Relapsing Laryngeal Edema Possibly Associated With Chronic Tonsillitis and Mycoplasma Infection, Requiring Reintubation and Tracheostomy

    Get PDF
Relapsing epiglottitis has rarely been reported, and its etiology is not well established. A 44-year-old previously healthy Japanese man presented with a quickly progressing choking sensation. He had been experiencing refractory and relapsing laryngeal edema and probably acute epiglottitis (three episodes within 2 weeks), with rash and elevated pancreatic amylase. The patient required immediate intubation. After the initial extubation, he required reintubation and a subsequent tracheostomy. Antibiotics, glucocorticoid, and antihistamines were administered, and he finally recovered with the tracheostomy’s closure. Potential causes of this patient’s relapsing epiglottitis are as follows: persistent right swollen tonsil; a positive result on a Mycoplasma pneumoniae antigen test and a particle agglutination (PA) test, implicating chronic tonsillitis; and/or Mycoplasma infection. This is the first case report of refractory and relapsing epiglottitis requiring reintubation possibly concurrent with chronic tonsillitis and Mycoplasma infection.Case Reports in Medicine, 2025(1), art. no. 6638796; 2025journal articl

Mechanical properties of Cu-Ni alloy thick films electrodeposited from aqueous solution containing pyrophosphate as a complexing agent

    Get PDF
Cu-Ni alloy thick films with a thickness of approximately 170 µm were electrodeposited from an aqueous solution containing pyrophosphate as a complexing agent. The electrodeposited Cu-Ni alloy thick films with a dumbbell shape were exfoliated from a metallic titanium cathode to examine the crystal orientation, microhardness and tensile strength. The average crystallite size of electrodeposited Cu-Ni alloy thick films was around 30 nm. The microhardness increased up to 327 HV with increasing the Ni content up to ∼19 % while the maximum tensile strength reached 726 MPa at the Ni content of ∼13 %. The improvement of these mechanical properties can be explained by two strengthening mechanisms of solid solution alloying and crystallite size refining.Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 1026, art. no. 180398; 2025journal articl
