    Chatbots as Digital Health Interventions for Adults with Chronic Conditions: A Scoping Review

    The objective of this scoping review is to systematically map the landscape of chatbot-based digital health interventions targeting adults with chronic conditions. In addition, we aim to 1) describe the findings according to chronic disease target by the technology; 2) identify the type of chatbots available; and 3) explore specific theoretical-methodological approaches used for chatbot messaging development. This review will answer the following research question: What are the main characteristics of the use of chatbots as digital health interventions for adult patients with chronic conditions? Following the JBI recommendations, we used the PCC (Population, Concept, Context) strategy to develop the review question and narrow down the descriptors, and papers inclusion and exclusion criteria. The population for this study is adult patients with chronic conditions. The principal concept explored in this review is the use of chatbots as DHI for adults with chronic conditions, and the context for this scoping review is digital health interventions. This scoping review will include studies published in peer-reviewed journals in the last 10 years with full text available in English, Spanish or Portuguese. We will consider different methodologies, such as randomized control trials, non-randomized control trials, mixed-method, methodological, quantitative and qualitative designs. Book chapters that answered our research question will also be included. We will exclude reviews, protocol papers, laws, decrees, and policies. We will also exclude papers that discuss the potential of chatbots for adults with chronic conditions but don’t describe the technology's development, use, or evaluation. To synthesize and report our findings, we will follow the PRISMA extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines

    This project introduces a methodological framework for analyzing institutional bundles and fertility resilience using threshold estimation, WAIC/LOOIC model comparison, and SVC (Stochastic Variable Contribution) diagnostics. Key features include: Adaptation of biostatistical practices (Bayesian model comparison, normalized weights, activation thresholds) to social science contexts Use of WAIC/LOOIC for selecting interaction terms and identifying nonlinear activation effects ΔELPD interpretation guidelines to support transparent model evaluation Simulation-based demonstration of how childcare, gender equality, and governance transparency act as mediators or amplifiers once thresholds are crossed All reported values are derived from simulation code and serve as a proof-of-concept, not empirical claims. The framework emphasizes methodological transparency, reproducibility, and structural sensitivity, offering social scientists a new lens for institutional interaction analysis beyond traditional linear models and AIC/BIC-based approaches

    This project presents a structural and interdisciplinary reading of Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince, reframing the fable as a critique of institutional blindness and ethical reversal. While often interpreted as a sentimental tale of compassion, the story’s final scenes—where the statue is discarded and the swallow dies—reveal a deeper commentary on how societies erase invisible contributions and undervalue sacrificial acts. By drawing parallels with episodes of cultural loss in Japan—such as Meiji-era Haibutsu Kishaku and postwar heritage demolitions—the paper explores how fables can illuminate systemic forgetting and serve as tools for moral education and cultural policy reflection. Key contributions include: A framework for using literary texts to interrogate institutional ethics, memory, and value A call for cross-contextual literary analysis, connecting fables to diverse national experiences and structural histories Pedagogical applications for ethics education, heritage awareness, and critical thinking through narrative analysis The study proposes future research directions, including: Comparative studies of legal and heritage protection systems Cross-national curriculum analysis of fables in education Surveys on cultural heritage awareness using The Happy Prince as a diagnostic lens Applied ethics education using fables to foster moral imagination and institutional critique Psychological and ethnological extensions exploring how fables shape collective memory and cultural identity This work contributes to literary studies, humanities education, cultural memory research, and policy discourse, positioning fables as conceptual instruments for rethinking how societies remember, value, and preserve

    Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) involves difficulties with social communication, repetitive behaviors, and sensory processing irregularities (American Psychiatric Association., 2013). About 90% of autistic individuals experience sensory processing challenges–in the form of over- of undersensitivity to sensory stimuli–making this a core feature of ASD (Ben-Sasson et al., 2019; Leekam et al., 2007). These difficulties persist from childhood into adulthood (Crane et al., 2009). Sensory perception shapes behavior and thinking (Ismael et al., 2018; Nakamura et al., 2025). In ASD sensory processing irregularities are associated with degree of autistic traits (Moore et al., 2025) and enhanced anxiety (Green & Ben-Sasson, 2010; Mazurek et al., 2013; Mazurek & Petroski, 2015). Purpose: Due to the essential role of the thalamus in sensory processing and filtering, the aim of this study is to assess differences in brain volume of thalamic subnuclei between autistic and neurotypical individuals.
