The Social Ethics of Fatherhood and Sexual Orientation

    No full text
The role of fatherhood in shaping moral and ethical perspectives on sexual orientation has long been a subject of philosophical and sociological inquiry. In this book, Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, explores how the presence or absence of a paternal figure influences ethical frameworks related to gender and sexuality. By engaging with diverse sociocultural contexts, the book provides a deep analysis of the moral responsibilities associated with fatherhood and their impact on identity formation. It critically evaluates the intersection of social norms, paternal engagement, and the ethical dimensions of sexual orientation development. This work offers a compelling discussion for scholars, policymakers, and individuals interested in the ethics of parenting and gender identity in contemporary society. Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, presents a comprehensive study on the ethical responsibilities of fathers and how these responsibilities shape the moral and psychological development of children, particularly in relation to sexual orientation. Published in 2023 in New York, USA, this book situates itself within the ongoing discourse on parenting, ethics, and gender identity. The increasing prevalence of fatherless households raises questions about the social and moral frameworks that influence personal identity and orientation. The book defines social ethics as the guiding moral principles that govern human interactions within a society. It further establishes the concept of fatherhood as not merely biological but also psychological and ethical, with far-reaching consequences on a child's worldview. Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, highlights how gender norms, cultural expectations, and paternal engagement contribute to ethical development and self-perception. Contemporary societies witness an increasing divergence in family structures, challenging traditional paradigms of paternal influence. The book delves into how different familial settings—ranging from traditional nuclear families to single-parent and same-sex households—contribute to moral and identity formation. Drawing from sociological case studies, Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, examines the lived experiences of individuals raised in varied fathering environments. This work adopts an interdisciplinary approach, merging ethical philosophy, psychology, and social sciences. By exploring classical and modern ethical theories, it establishes a foundation for understanding how fatherhood shapes moral decision-making and self-identity in the context of sexual orientation. The book outlines key indicators that demonstrate the ethical and psychological impact of fatherhood, including parental engagement, moral education, social expectations, and emotional security. Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, presents empirical data and theoretical arguments that reinforce the importance of paternal presence in ethical and identity development. Several operational variables are explored, such as the role of communication in father-child relationships, the impact of paternal absence on self-perception, and the ethical dilemmas faced by individuals navigating their sexual orientation without paternal guidance. Factors influencing the moral role of fathers include socioeconomic status, cultural norms, religious beliefs, and policy frameworks. These determinants shape how fatherhood is perceived and practiced across different societies. Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, proposes actionable strategies for reinforcing positive father-child relationships. These include policy recommendations, ethical parenting models, and interventions to promote responsible fatherhood in shaping sexual identity formation. The book acknowledges both challenges and facilitators in addressing ethical fatherhood, including social stigma, institutional biases, and support systems that influence paternal involvement. The book concludes that ethical fatherhood plays a vital role in the moral and sexual development of individuals. Prof. Dr. Yoesoep Edhie Rachmad, Ph.D., DBA, synthesizes philosophical, psychological, and social perspectives to provide a holistic understanding of the interplay between fatherhood and sexual orientation
