For a sociological theory of consciousness

    No full text
The aim of this article is to show how a shift toward a conception of consciousness as an embodied and mediated relation makes it possible to reframe the problem of consciousness in terms of experience, action, and the production of meaning within social and socio-technical worlds. Starting from a simple heuristic scenario, a child playing with a ball, the article outlines the main trajectories that have emerged from critiques of cognitivism and representationalism (phenomenology, enactivism, Mind–Object Identity), and assesses their coherence and limits in light of the infospheric transformation described by Floridi, which relocates analytical focus from the subject to the socio-informational system. The purpose, however, is not to explain or compare these positions, but to bring SENSE (Social Emergent Network of Situated Experience) into view as a sociological theory of consciousness

Primary school English teachers’ work in post-war Tigray, Ethiopia

    No full text
This study explores the changing conditions of primary school English teachers’ work in Tigray, Ethiopia following the civil war (2020-2022) and ensuing humanitarian crisis. It addresses the question: "How have the conditions of teachers’ work changed since the start of the war, and how are they experiencing and navigating this?" Drawing on interviews with 60 primary school English teachers (2025-2026), we provide a current, conceptually grounded account of teachers’ working conditions in post-war Tigray, Ethiopia. The study provides evidence for urgent policy action in Tigray, Ethiopia, and contributes to wider debates and understandings on the nature of teachers’ work in conflict-affected settings

Unpacking the Landscape and Efficacy of Digital Storytelling in Language and General Academic Education: A Triangulated Analysis via Bibliometrics, SWOT, and Meta-Analysis

    No full text
The study aims to address critical research gaps in digital storytelling techniques (DST) applied to education through a triangulated analysis of bibliometrics, SWOT, and meta-analyses, which is a rigorous multi-method approach representing the novelty of this study and its academic contribution to synthesizing DST research evidence. Through analyzing a dataset of 621 bibliometric records (2002-2026) from the Web of Science core collection and 40 high-quality randomized controlled/pre-test post-test studies for meta-analysis, this study reveals that the general trend of DST-assisted education is growing up, where the year 2019 witnesses a sudden jump up regarding the research in DST in education and 2021 to 2023 witness the peak in related publications and citations. The study reveals the top authors, organizations, countries or areas, and sources, as well as research hotspots in the field of DST-assisted education. It also reveals through a meta-analysis that DST can significantly improve language skills (g=1.16; 95%CI=0.81-1.50), learning achievements (g=1.53; 95%CI=0.62-2.44), and learning motivation (g=0.34; 95%CI=0.05-0.63), rather than self-efficacy (g=1.11; 95%CI=-0.13-2.15). Besides, the study also reveals the strengths (immersive engagement, creativity promotion), weaknesses (technological literacy barriers, cost burdens), opportunities (curriculum innovation, interdisciplinary application), and threats (technological obsolescence, learning distraction) in DST-assisted education through a SWOT analysis. Future research on the effects of DST on language skills, learning achievements, motivation, and self-efficacy should examine the specific impacts of advanced technologies since modern technologies are advancing at a dramatic speed

Autismus-Spektrum-Störungen im Kontext des Familiengerichts: Elterliche Perspektiven zu Konflikten um Sorge und Umgang

    No full text

Investigative Interviewing of Children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Scoping Review

    No full text
Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are at increased risk of becoming victims of crime compared to the general population. It is important that professionals can accurately elicit information about crimes from child witnesses or victims during an investigative interview, particularly when cases lack physical evidence or corroborating eyewitness accounts. Variations in attention, communication, memory and emotional regulation could influence how children with ADHD or autistic children respond in investigative interviews, potentially affecting the information they share. This scoping review will systematically map the existing literature on investigative interviews involving children with ADHD and/or ASD. It will examine the types of interview procedures, study designs, independent variables and outcome measures employed across the literature. The review aims to provide a clear overview of what is currently known, highlight methodological trends, identify gaps in the evidence, and guide future research
