Biochar Supplementation as a Functional Strategy in Aquaculture Systems: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
This registration outlines the protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis investigating the multidimensional effects of biochar supplementation in aquaculture systems. The study aims to quantitatively synthesize evidence on growth performance, hematological and immune responses, water quality parameters, and carcass composition in aquaculture species. The protocol defines eligibility criteria, search strategy, data extraction procedures, and statistical analysis plan prior to conducting the meta-analysis to ensure transparency and reproducibility
Social Evaluations of Environmental Behaviours
This OSF repository contains the data, analysis scripts, and study materials for a research project on the social evaluations of pro- and counter-environmental behaviours. The research examines how people engaging in environmental behaviours are perceived across key dimensions of social evaluation, including morality, friendliness, ability, assertiveness, femininity, masculinity, and social standing. Using survey data and two pre-registered experiments, the studies compare evaluations of pro-environmental and counter-environmental lifestyles and examine how these perceptions relate to identification with target individuals and environmental attitudes. The repository provides all materials necessary to reproduce the analyses and results reported in the manuscript
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE TREATMENT OF SURGICAL SITE INFECTION IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING CARDIAC SURGERY: A SCOPING REVIEW
Objective: To map the available evidence regarding the direct costs associated with the treatment of surgical site infection in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
Introduction: Surgical site infection (SSI) in cardiac surgeries generates a significant economic burden and is the leading cause of death not related to the patient’s initial clinical condition. The associated costs primarily result from prolonged hospital stays, the use of antibiotics, increased demand for human resources, and the need for adjunct therapies such as negative pressure therapy. The literature reveals a scarcity of information regarding the costs associated with SSI in cardiac surgeries, highlighting the need for a synthesis of the available evidence.
Inclusion criteria: Primary scientific studies conducted among patients undergoing cardiac surgery, aged 18 years or older, that report direct costs related to the occurrence of SSI will be included. Observational studies such as exploratory studies, case reports and case series, cross-sectional studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, and before-and-after studies will be eligible. Intervention studies such as pilot studies, quasi-experimental studies, and randomized controlled trials will also be considered.
Methods: Searches will be conducted in the following databases: PubMed/Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, EconLit, and BVS. Gray literature will also be systematically searched in databases such as the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Database, Open Access Theses and Dissertations (OATD), Canadian Dissertation and Thesis Portal, and Google Scholar. The reference lists of the included studies will be reviewed. The search will be carried out in March 2026. The research question was formulated based on the PCC mnemonic: P – Adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery; C – Direct costs related to the treatment of surgical site infection; C – SSIs treated in a hospital setting
