The Semiotics behind the transformation of popular products into elite products: the Havaianas case
Get PDFEste artigo propõe-se a examinar aspectos da publicidade, tais como são disseminados na mídia televisiva, particularmente no que tange aos microssistemas de valores subjacentes. Quanto ao marco teórico, a abordagem fundamenta-se nos modelos epistemológicos e operacionais da semiótica greimasiana, a qual acredita que o sentido de um texto seja construído por um percurso gerativo dividido em três níveis - níveis fundamental, narrativo e discursivo. Não nos limitamos apenas às proposições de Greimas, outras interpretações também são buscadas, em especial as trazidas pela Sociossemiótica, que se atém aos discursos sociais não literários, entre os quais estão os da publicidade. Como objetivo principal, analisa-se, do ponto de vista semiótico, o modo como as sandálias Havaianas, produtos considerados populares, vêm sendo transformadas em produtos de luxo. Tal análise é feita procurando examinar os mecanismos e estratégias utilizados pela mídia para a interpelação do consumidor, isto é, observa-se que tipos de signos se utilizam para tornar possível a comunicação entre os interlocutores e como são sincreticamente construídos. O corpus da pesquisa é constituído por uma propaganda comercial das sandálias Havaianas, veiculada pela mídia televisiva em 2006. São analisadas as projeções atoriais, temporais e espaciais, descrevendo os efeitos de sentido provocados por tais mecanismos. Por meio do exame da semântica discursiva, são recuperadas as ideologias imanentes ao discurso e, utilizando-se as operações das estruturas narrativas, analisa-se o agir de cada sujeito semiótico em busca de seu objeto de valor e também as modalidades que semanticamente os instauram.This article proposed to examine aspects of publicity, such as they are disseminated in televised media, particularly in regards to microsystems of implicit values. The theoretical approach is based on operational and epistemic models of French semiotics which proposes that the meaning of a text is built through a generative trajectory divided in three levels: fundamental, narrative and discursive. We did not limit ourselves only to Greimas’s proposals, but we also searched for others interpretations, especially those developed by socio-semiotics which focuses on social discourses that are not literary, among them publicity. The main objective was to analyze, from the semiotic point of view, how Havaianas sandals – originally seen as a popular product – are being transformed into luxury products. In the analysis, we have sought to examine the mechanisms and strategies used by media for interpellation of consumer, that is, what kinds of signs are used to make communication among interlocutors possible and how they are built syncretically. The corpus of research comprises a commercial advetising of Havaianas sandals that was broadcasted on televised media in 2006. We examined the spatial, temporal and actorial projections, describing the effects of meaning engendered by such mechanisms. Through discourse semantics, we tried to reveal immanent ideologies of discourse and, using the operations of narrative structures, we analyzed the actions of each semiotic subject that is in search of their object of value, as well as the modalities that establish them semantically
Semiotic Analysis of the Poem “Velu” by Josely Vianna Baptista
Get PDFA análise do poema “Velu”, de Josely Vianna Baptista, é parte de uma pesquisa a respeito dos percursos temáticos e figurativos do erotismo na poesia neobarroca da América Latina. O objetivo central da pesquisa é explorar a polissemia desse discurso poético por meio da análise semiótica greimasiana do percurso gerativo do sentido, priorizando o exame da tematização e da figurativização nos textos. Em “Velu”, o tema da revelação é representado por um fato corriqueiro: o florescimento de uma planta epífita, a orquídea. A flor é a principal figurativização do valor /vida/, constantemente afirmado na construção do programa narrativo, ela é também imagem essencial para a interpretação aqui proposta. O órgão reprodutor da planta amadurece conforme o poema se desenvolve aos olhos do leitor, confirmando a presença do erotismo e ainda do tema da revelação. “Velu” apresenta uma abordagem coerente com a proposta dos poetas neobarrocos, com sua busca pelo primitivo e pelo rústico, realizada por meio do emprego da linguagem poética. O uso de tal linguagem tem como objetivo aumentar a compreensão acerca da cultura latino-americana e sondar o erotismo na literatura, especialmente na poesia.This analysis of the poem “Velu”, by Josely Vianna Baptista, is part of a research regarding the thematic and figurative paths of eroticism in Latin American neobaroque poetry. The central objective is to explore the polisemy of this poetical discourse by means of the generative trajectory proposed by the Paris school semiotics, with special emphasis on thematization and figurativization. In this poem, the revelation theme is represented by the every day event of the blossoming of an epiphyte plant, the orchid. The flower is the main figure that represents /life/, constantly restated in the construction of this narrative program, and is also an essential image for the interpretation here proposed. The plants reproduction organ matures as the poem unfolds before the reader, confirming the presence of eroticism and also the theme of revelation. “Velu” presents a coherent approach to that of the neobaroque poets and their search for the primitive and rustic, brought forth by their use of poetical writing. The choice of poetical language has the objective of extending the readers knowledge of Latin American culture and to tap into eroticism in literature, especially in poetry
Discursive Space Diffusion on Religious and Scientific Field
Get PDFNosso fazer sancionador, responsável pelo recorte e delimitação de totalidades, estabeleceu, dentro do campo discursivo religioso e científico, subconjuntos de formações discursivas que correspondem ao espaço discursivo de divulgação religiosa e divulgação científica. A fundamentação teórica a ser utilizada para atingir os objetivos propostos neste estudo consiste na semiótica greimasiana, na Análise do Discurso francesa (AD), herdada pela semiótica a partir dos conceitos elaborados por Maingueneau, na filosofia da linguagem e nos princípios do dialogismo bakhtiniano. Consideramos para este trabalho o projeto de reformulação do modelo semiótico, realizado por Greimas e Fontanille, associado aos aprimoramentos epistemológicos e técnicos introduzidos ao modelo por Zilberberg. Observaremos o sujeito da percepção, não apenas como o sujeito cognitivo que se emparelha ao narrador do nível discursivo, mas como o observador que apreende o mundo segundo um ritmo e que, ao imprimir um ritmo a seus discursos, contribui para a delimitação do éthos. Determinaremos como os textos que materializam a divulgação religiosa alcançam certa especificidade rítmica para que se defina a cena enunciativa. Dessa forma, estabeleceremos com mais profundidade as diretrizes dos mecanismos de construção do sentido, responsáveis pela elaboração dos enunciados que materializam o discurso de divulgação religiosa. Ao observar as recorrências dos mecanismos de construção do sentido dos textos, refletiremos sobre a noção de discurso de “divulgação religiosa” e de discurso de “divulgação científica”. Os dois tipos de discurso compõem o espaço discursivo das totalidades em confronto e são pertinentes à cena enunciativa partilhada, em que se propõem um fazer-crer e um fazer-saber peculiares, seja a palavra revelada, sejam as descobertas de origem científica.Our sanction doing, responsible for the delimitation of totalities, established, in the religious and scientific discursive field, discursive formation subgroups which correspond to the discursive space of religious and scientific diffusion. In order to achieve our objectives, the theoretical basis used here consists on Greimas’s Semiotics’ concepts, French Discourse Analysis, incorporated in Semiotics by Maingueneau, philosophy of language and Bakhtin’s dialogism principles. We also consider the project of reformularization of the semiotic model, proposed by Greimas and Fontanille, associated with the epistemological and technical improvements to the model introduced by Zilberberg. We will observe the subject of perception, not only as the cognitive subject that pairs up with the narrator of the discursive level, but as the observer who apprehends the world according to a pace and, when printing a rhythm in its speeches, helps in defining the ethos. We will determine how the texts that materialize the religious diffusion reach certain rhythmic specificities so that the enunciative scene is established. Thus, we will establish in more detail the guidelines of the mechanisms of meaning construction that build enunciates materializing the discourse of religious diffusion. By observing the recurrence of the mechanisms of construction of the meaning of texts, we will reflect on the notions of “religious diffusion” discourse and “scientific diffusion” discourse. Both types of discourse compose the discursive space of totalities in confrontation and are related to the shared enunciative scene in which it is proposed a make-believed and a doing-known, be it on the revealed word or on the scientific discoveries
