Human rabies epidemiology in Bali, Indonesia

    Get PDF
Epidemiological studies against human rabies have been conducted in Bali using data were obtained from Bali Provincial of Health Office reporting system, and then the data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the results show domestic dog are main vectors of human transmission while cats, monkeys, and bats do not play an important role in the spread of human rabies in Bali. Similarly, there is no indication of human to human transmission during the incubation period after dog bites and rabies victim treatment in hospital. The frequency and the number of dog bites are likely related to the highly of dogs population density in the residential sector in the region. Dog bite cases showed the highest in 2010 (24.4%) and are likely to increase following the frequency of cycle dog breeding season occurs in March, and then give birth in July when approaching the peak of the dry season in August, following the mating season in October and breeding season in March, so the next cycle of the breeding season in July and mating season in October

When a critical analysis to date has made of, the historical aspects related to the topic of drugs, we could distinguish the existence of contrary positions regarding the possibility of legalizing them or not legalizing them. This dilemma is a very topical and important issue since opting for one position or another has economic, political and social implications that are necessary to keep track of. Therefore, the present study aims to; evaluate the advantages and disadvantages that would imply the legalization and non-legalization of drugs. Scientific journals from five years ago have consulted to date, theses and dissertations on the subject, digital and printed books that appear in libraries. Personal communication has made with researchers in the area of ??addictions. The main results were that the legalization of drugs is very dangerous for society due to its highly addictive and harmful effects on human beings. Likewise, specialists in addictions affirm that legalization can send the wrong message that consuming marijuana and other illegal drugs does not represent risks, which in turn can generate the wrong perception of safety and promote the promotion of consumption. In conclusion, the legalization would not mean the disappearance of the current drug lords, since prices would fall, but this would have compensated with a higher demand, which would increase the sales-consumption volume

This article allowed identifying procedures used for diagnostic evaluation in the “Mercedes” Private Education Unit of the city of Calceta, Ecuador, as well as verifying whether these are adequate, relevant and carried out according to the reality of the educational institution by teachers and if you intend to analyze the student in an integral way, not only academic. To support this research, the exploratory method of documentary analysis was used for which bibliographic sources were reviewed. The instrument designed for data collection was the survey where results were obtained that concluded that teachers have limitations regarding the conception of diagnostic evaluation because they consider that the contents are not spaces for continuous learning, it does not meet the different styles of learning to determine what need for academic improvement can be applied to each student although the results of a diagnostic evaluation are taken into account for decision-making focused on improving procedures inside and outside the classroom

Neuropsychiatric factor and polymorphism gene in internet addiction

    Get PDF
Internet addiction (IA) has been described as ‘excessive or poorly controlled preoccupation, urges, or behaviors regarding computer use and internet access that lead to impairment or distress. Excessive internet user has emerged as a leading cause of behavioral and developmental problems in adolescents. There are several factors that influence the occurrence of internet addiction. The risk factors can be categorized by a social factor, psychiatric factor and biological factor. Some studies have found varied results. Molecular and functional imaging techniques have been increasingly used for the analysis of neurobiological changes and neurochemical correlates of IA. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) studies demonstrate that structural changes in the frontal cortex are associated with functional abnormalities in Internet-addicted subjects. Recent research has implicated the role of the striatal dopaminergic system in the behavioral maladaptation associated with IA. It provided evidence for a molecular genetic link between serotonergic and dopaminergic neurotransmission and Internet addiction like dopamine polymorphism the DRD2/ANKKI Taq Ia and COMT Val158metpolymorphism  and the gene coding for the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha 4 (CHRNA4). As both the genetic and personality traits are known to play a role in other addiction it is likely that same mechanism (biopsychosocial) underlie Internet addiction

Anthocyanin as neuroprotector for methamphetamine-induced neurotoxicity

    Get PDF
Methamphetamines are chemicals that might affect brain function and causes the development of addiction and other brain pathologies. It increased dopamine stimulation and would increase the formation of free radicals leading to dopaminergic neurotoxicity. Various therapeutic targets have been developed to prevent or minimize the negative effects of methamphetamine use. Increased level of oxidative stress has been considered as a potential trigger for neurotoxicity hence the expected ability for the administration of antioxidants to prevent damages caused by free radicals. The administration of antioxidants is expected to provide protective effects and prevent further damages created by methamphetamine exposure. Anthocyanin is a type of flavonoid is a potentially effective neuroprotector candidate for preventing neuronal cell death reduction, and this compound works with various mechanisms

oai:sloap:article/33The Madarsa system of education has been an important institution for education in India. However, the relevance of the import system education as per the changing needs of the society has been still a debate topic in India. The majority of the Muslim girls are illiterate and low educated while their living conditions are poor. Moreover, most of the Muslim families cannot afford modern education and thus they are forced to send their wards to traditional educational institutions where fee charges are normal or free education is being provided. Which also correlates directly to their quality of life. The government has realize the weakness of the system in terms of expediently to provide education to Muslim children  which relevant from day to day needs of the society as result government has initiative Madrasa modernization programme. Many Scholarship and fellowship programmes have been redesigned to bring it at par with mainstream educational system in the country. Scholarships to the students of Madrasas are being provided to enhance their good self. In the light of these facts the present study is designed to explore the impact of financial aid as scholarships on educational attainment & quality of life amongst Muslim adolescent girls in Madrasas. The present study is empirical in nature and based on mainly primary data. The field survey has been conducted in 3 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The sample covers Gonda, Rampur and Aligarh districts from Uttar Pradesh. In each Institution 15 scholarship awarded students have been randomly selected and interviewed. The sample size includes 3 districts, 20 Institutions and 300 adolescent girls. Our survey highlights that the scholarships significantly affect the educational attainment and their quality of life. Government tried their best to enhance the educational standard of Muslim girls. For this purpose government initiated scholarship programmes to uplift the status of Muslim adolescent girls in the societ

In Macedonia, the biggest provider of social protection is the Republic, then the municipalities, the City of Skopje and municipalities in Skopje within their jurisdictions. The Republic of Macedonia establishes the system of social protection and enables its functioning, by providing conditions and measures for social - protective activities. By promoting the process of deinstitutionalization, the idea of preventing the institutionalization of children with moderate and severe mental disability is imposed, as well as the need to initiate activities to support families, including taking responsibility for improving the quality of life of children while keeping them in a home environment. Carers who agree to care for a child within the family will need to provide love, warmth, and care for his health, education, as well as provide stability and security

The reliability of patient information in electronic systems

    Get PDF
Electronic health records (EHRs) are digitized data used for clinical research and data science. Data quality in EHRs is crucial for accurate results, including accuracy, completeness, consistency, credibility, timeliness, accessibility, adequacy, comprehensibility, and interpretability. However, the quality of digital data in EHRs is a major concern, with issues such as incompleteness, duplication, poor organization, fragmentation, and insufficient use of coded data. To improve data accuracy, researchers can use statistical measures and validate data using methods like central tendency, dispersion, and goodness-of-fit tests. Missing data in EHRs can be classified into three forms: missing completely at random (MCAR), missing at random (MAR), and missing not at random (MNAR). Challenges in EHR data include documentation without explicit units of measurement, discrepancies in data collection across organizations, and unstructured text data. To ensure high-quality data, researchers should familiarize themselves with the EHR platform, secondary data sources, and data collection methodologies. Regulations at national and international levels are established to ensure the optimal handling, safeguarding, and usage of personal data, including healthcare information. This study provides an overview of the key elements of high-quality electronic health record (EHR) systems, as well as common practices in their deployment.&nbsp

Malignant hypertension: A serious cardiovascular disorder-the main role of emergency medical services in controlling the condition

    Get PDF
Background: Malignant hypertension, often referred to as hypertensive emergency, is a critical condition marked by severely elevated blood pressure (BP) exceeding 180/120 mm Hg, often associated with end-organ damage. It can lead to significant complications such as stroke, acute heart failure, and renal failure. Immediate and effective management is essential to prevent irreversible damage to vital organs and improve patient outcomes. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) play a crucial role in rapidly diagnosing, stabilizing, and transporting patients with malignant hypertension to appropriate care. Aim: This paper aims to highlight the essential role of EMS in the management of malignant hypertension, focusing on early recognition, timely intervention, and transport to specialized care to mitigate complications and improve survival rates. Methods: A review of relevant literature was conducted to examine the pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical presentation, and management strategies of malignant hypertension. The role of EMS in timely care delivery was analyzed, including their involvement in initial assessment, treatment, and coordination with hospitals. Results: The review revealed that EMS is integral in identifying and managing hypertensive crises in the pre-hospital setting. Early intervention by EMS, such as the administration of intravenous antihypertensive medications and continuous monitoring, has been shown to improve outcomes significantly.
