Enhancement of the Implementation of the Philippine Coast Guard National Service Training Program – Civic Welfare Training Service

    No full text
This study assessed the implementation status of the Philippine Coast Guard National Service Training Program – Civic Welfare Training Service (PCG NSTP-CWTS) with the aim of developing relevant enhancement recommendations. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research involved 300 students who have undergone PCG Oriented NSTP–CWTS, who provided quantitative data through survey, and key implementers and stakeholders who offered qualitative insights via survey and interview. While students generally perceived the program\u27s implementation as "Agree" across curriculum content, teaching-learning activities, and assessment, a notable "Strongly Disagree" rating emerged regarding the curriculum\u27s focus on PCG functions over broader civic welfare activities. Qualitative findings elaborated on this, revealing a significant disconnect between PCG and university curricula, pedagogical limitations in teaching strategies (often military-centric), inconsistencies in instructor qualifications and professional development due to budgetary constraints, and a critical need for formalized university-PCG relationships. The study concludes that despite student satisfaction with practical elements, systemic challenges in curriculum breadth, instructor pedagogy, training standardization, and inter-institutional collaboration impede the program\u27s holistic implementation as mandated by the NSTP Act. Recommendations include establishing a joint curriculum review committee, developing standardized student-centered instructional guides, prioritizing regular and diverse instructor professional development, strengthening university-PCG partnerships, and lobbying for a legislative amendment to formalize the PCG\u27s NSTP function

    No full text
The global shipping sector faces strong decarbonization targets, requiring major emission cuts by 2030, 2040, and net zero by 2050. In the Philippines, domestic shipping is vital for connectivity, making this challenge urgent. This study explored Filipino ECOPs’ roles, awareness, challenges, and opportunities in advancing maritime decarbonization policies and practices. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining survey responses from ECOPs, semi-structured interviews with participants, and document analysis of national and international maritime policies. Quantitative analysis assessed awareness and readiness levels, while qualitative insights revealed systemic challenges and enabling conditions. The findings revealed that ECOPs demonstrate moderate to high awareness of environmental aspects of decarbonization (68.6%), yet significant gaps persist in regulatory knowledge, economic understanding, and technical applications (48%). Opportunities for ECOPs’ engagement were rated as “moderate potential” (WM = 3.22), with enabling factors deemed “sufficient” (WM = 2.85). Respondents recognized ECOPs’ capacity to drive technological adoption and policy innovation, though barriers, including restricted access to decision-making, inadequate training, and limited mentorship, pose “major challenges” (WM = 3.15). Policy analysis affirmed national alignment but underscored weak mechanisms for meaningful ECOP participation. ECOP integration is vital to strengthening the Philippines’ maritime decarbonization agenda. Strategic measures such as advisory councils, capacity-building programs, and curriculum reforms are recommended to empower ECOPs for of sustainable shipping transitions in archipelagic contexts

Level of satisfaction plays a crucial role in guiding the company through maintaining the loyalty of their registered retailers.  This study was conducted to determine the level of satisfaction towards the services offered by Millennium Distribution System Incorporation (MDSI) among their registered retailers in Tangub City.  A descriptive-quantitative research design was used. A total of 156 registered retailers using an adopted-modified survey questionnaire.  The study was carried throughout the academic year 2024-2025 in the second semester.  The findings revealed that registered retailers strongly agree with the services offered by the company, particularly ordering service quality and delivery service quality, which further implies a very high level of satisfaction.  However, visual merchandising is the least factor that the registered retailers agreed, which further implies a high level of satisfaction.  This implies that the services offered by the Millennium Distribution System Incorporation in Tangub City have their retailers’ interest in mind.  The study concluded that all service factors contribute to retailer satisfaction and that the company’s sales agents and personnel are fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.  These findings may assist MDSI in reinforcing its goal of delivering excellent and high-quality services to its registered retailers

    No full text
This study examined the challenges and coping strategies of multigrade teachers in the Suyo District. The goal was to suggest policy actions that could improve teaching and learning in rural schools. The research used a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design. It started with qualitative interviews to identify common themes and then conducted a quantitative survey to confirm and expand upon the findings. Results showed eight major challenges: (1) time management, (2) curriculum demands, (3) instructional difficulties, (4) lack of instructional materials, (5) classroom management issues, (6) learner diversity, (7) limited parental support, and (8) insufficient professional development. The quantitative analysis confirmed that the three most pressing concerns were learner diversity, curriculum complexity, and insufficient professional development, as these showed the highest levels of seriousness among respondents. Teachers tackled these issues using coping strategies in eight areas: time management, instructional flexibility, differentiated instruction, resourcefulness, classroom management skills, adaptive teaching, peer school support, and participation in professional development. The study concluded that multigrade instruction is a viable way to ensure equal education when teachers receive enough support from institutions and the community. It recommends creating a multigrade-specific curriculum framework, strengthening peer mentoring and Learning Action Cells (LACs), improving professional learning programs, enhancing access to teaching resources, and increasing community and parental involvement

    No full text
The main thrust of the study was to determine the learners’ level of difficulty in using Mother Tongue Based Instruction on the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge to their Mathematics and MTAP performances of 195 Grades 3 learners in public elementary schools of Tubigon East and West Districts, Tubigon, Bohol. This research used quantitative methods through descriptive and corre-lational designs using the survey questionnaire that was used to collect the data from Grade 3 learners in 17 public elementary schools in Tubigon East District and 14 public elementary schools in Tubigon West District. This also included all the primary schools with multigrade classes in the said districts. The study used the Mann Whitney U Test to test the significant difference between the learners’ level of difficulty in using Mother tongue-based instruction on the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge and the learners’ profile. Results of the investigation unfolded that there is a signifi-cant relationship between the level of difficulty in using Mother tongue-based instruction on the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge and the learners’ profile with a p-value of .000. The result of the study led to the conclusion that using the mother tongue in teaching Mathematics significantly impacts pupils\u27 performance in the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge competition, often leading to lower scores; where the competition\u27s questions are pre-sented in English, a language quite different from the student\u27s first language, "Sinugbuanong Binisaya." Thus, this discrepancy creates a mismatch between the language used in the classroom and the me-dium of instruction in the competition. It is recommended that the organizers and administrators review the use of Mother Tongue-Based instruction. It is also recommended to have more intensive training and seminars for the Mathematics teachers that relate to the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge. Furthermore, review materials may be developed and provided to the Grades 1 to 3 teachers
