An attempt to visualize how visually impaired people use e-book and e-library services
Get PDF「読書バリアフリー法」が施行されたことで,視覚障害者によるアクセシブルな電子書籍の利用が進んでいる.その際,視覚障害のある読者は,まずパソコンのスクリーンリーダーやOSの機能である音声ガイドの助けを借りて,電子書店や電子図書館にアクセスすることになる.最終的に目当ての電子書籍を探して入手し,音声読み上げで聞くまでにはかなり困難な道のりとなる.その理由として,アクセシブルな電子書籍を利活用するICTスキルには個人差があり,その習得ノウハウは共有されていないからである.そこで視覚障害者の電子書籍・電子図書館サービスの利用ノウハウを可視化する方法論を探り,初心者を指導する上で,障害となっている課題を明らかにする.With the enactment of the "Reading Barrier-Free Act," the use of accessible e-books by the visually impaired is increasing. In such cases, visually impaired users access e-bookstores and search for e-books with the help of screen readers and voice guidance. Finally, finding, acquiring, and reading an e-book with a voice reader can be quite difficult. The reason for this is that the acquisition of ICT skills to use accessible e-books depends on individual abilities, and the know-how is not shared. The task involved students learning about and measuring their heart rate and blood pressure, and briefly discussing their results, all through English. The purpose of the task was to raise student interest and motivation by using English to learn about something both personally relevant and useful, and it seemed to succeed in this.
