Classification comparison of Hepatica in Japan with Hepatica in the world by molecular phylogenetic tree of chloroplast gene
There are 18 species of Hepatica in the world, there are 6 species of Hepatica in Japan. In the present study, to characterize variation in the chloroplast gene of Hepatica from various locations, we examined nucleotide sequences of the chloroplast from matK gene to psbA gene. We performed PCR of chloroplast gene using 18 specimens of Hepatica and compared the result from around the world using a neighbor jointing tree. Molecular phylogenetic tree of Hepatica from around the world revealed that all species of Hepatica in Japan belonged to a different group from Hepatica in Europe, China and Korea. Molecular phylogenetic trees showed that that Hepatica in Japan had the closest relationship with Hepatica in America. All scientific names of Hepatica in Japan are treated as subspecies of H. nobilis in Europe (e.g. H. nobilis var. japonica f. variegata). In this study, the molecular phylogenetic tree suggests that 6 species of Hepatica in Japan are unlikely to be subspecies of H. nobilis in Europe.departmental bulletin pape
Construction of Hierarchical Partial Task Graph Detection Method Using Deep Learning
Since task scheduling problems belong to a class of the strong NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, the required scheduling time increases exponentially as the number of tasks increases. Therefore, we find some small subtask graphs that can be optimally scheduled in the overall task graph, and solve them individually as a scheduling problem. Then, each subtask graph can be treated as one macro task in the whole task graph. This reduces the apparent number of tasks in the overall task graph, reduces the scale of the task graph, and significantly reduces the search time that depends on the number of tasks. We call this hierarchical scheduling. However, this partial task graph detection has a drawback that it becomes a combinatorial optimization problem by itself. Therefore, in this paper, we construct and evaluate a method for detecting partial task graphs using deep learning.departmental bulletin pape
Optimization of Communication Network based on Structural Analysis of Traffic and Network Topology
With the emergence of services with various requirements, such as high-definition video distribution, online games that require real-time performance, IoT services that require high-density connections, and the recent explosive spread of remote work and online classes, the structure of communication traffic is becoming more and more complex. In addition, network topologies are becoming larger and more complex to realize high-capacity communication, and it is necessary to be able to accurately understand the structures of these traffic and topologies to design and control networks appropriately. In this paper, we report on a study to analyze the structure of complex communication traffic and network topology, and the case study to control the network optimally based on the network analysis.departmental bulletin pape

Examining Populism
Since the Brexit referendum and the election of Donald Trump in 2016, the term “populism” has become popular and widespread. However, it is difficult to say that there is a common understanding of what populism is. Based on recent research findings in political science, this paper discusses the following issues: the definitions of populism; the logic of populism; the populist political style; and the relationship between democracy and populism. Finally, I will examine some explanations for the rise of populism.departmental bulletin pape

Russian Patriotism and National History : The Mannerheim Plaque Controversy
Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim was a lieutenant general of the Russian Empire who was loyal to Nicholas II and served in the Russo-Japanese War and World War I. After the 1917 Revolution, he moved to Finland, where he fought as a commander of the White Guard in the Finnish Civil War; subsequently, he fought against the Soviet Union in the Winter War and World War II. As a result, his evaluation has often caused controversy in Russia; the most significant one surrounded the installation of his commemorative plaque in St. Petersburg in 2016. This paper will utilize this controversy to exhibit the lack of a common understanding of patriotism in Russia. Further, it will reveal the characteristics of Russia's perception of history, which cannot be understood simply by arguing that the regime uses it as a tool to foster patriotism.departmental bulletin pape
Is Trumpism a "Cause" or a "Result"? : The Transformation of American Democracy in the Covid-19 Pandemic from the Perspective of former Washington Correspondent
The United States suffers political and social polarization at its worst since the Civil War. Is Trump the "result" or the "cause" that accelerated this malaise? As a former Washington correspondent who covered the Trump administration last four years, I tried exploring answers for this American self-questioning. Trump-style governance, so-called Trumpism, has been characterized with its unique communication style to inspire anti-elite ressentiment among American public especially for white male middle-class who feel themselves less and less belongings to mainstream in their country. This communication sometimes takes the form of “dog whistle” aiming at Trump’s core supporters or at other times takes the form of sense of complicity sharing misinformation intentionally. The anti-elite undercurrent and the partisan confrontation which accelerates political polarization have been fostered in the US even since before the rise of Trump. In this respect the Trumpism can be called the “result”. On the other hand, it is also pointed out that Trump would be the “cause” which overturned the hierarchical order of policymakers, bureaucrats, experts and major media institutions playing himself destroying the existing order. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic played a major role in amplifying its effects. This reminds us of importance of further exploration to find out how infectious disease has caused significant impact on the state of democracy.departmental bulletin pape
