The Impact of Two Job-related Factors on Organizational Citizenship Behavior
Get PDFIt is well-known among researchers of organizational behavior (OB) that job satisfaction affects organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Another job-related factor is perceived person-job fit (PJF). Although PJF is related to job satisfaction, the former is a perceptual factor regarding the perceived fit of an individual’s beliefs and skills to their job, while the latter is a positive attitude toward an individual’s job. This study assumes that, along with an individual’s positive attitude toward their job, one’s perception regarding their f it to the job is also necessary for enhancing OCB, and empirically examines the moderating effect of PJF on the relationship between job satisfaction and OCB. As a result of analyzing the data collected from 416 working people, job satisfaction is revealed to have a signif icantly positive impact on OCB only when PJF is high. This study demonstrates the necessity of considering PJF separately from job satisfaction, although both concepts are job-related factors and a relatively high correlation is observed between them.departmental bulletin pape
The Imperial Gift of ‘Goshin’ei’ during the Period of Public Education and the Prevalence of the Overnight Duty system supporting ‘hōgo’
Get PDFIn this paper, I first summarised previous research and verified the facts of ‘Goshin’ei’ (meaning ‘venerable true shadow’ that was eventually used to refer to portraits of Emperor Meiji) that occupied a significant position as a method of showing their respect to the emperor during school ceremonies in the pre-World War II period. The study looked into the history of Goshin’ei’ in Japan during the 20’s and 30’s of the Meiji period based on historical documents: receiving and presenting ‘Goshin’ei.’ In addition, we have considered the period from the 20’s to 40’s of the Meiji period and examined how school teachers and staff stored (hōchi) and guarded (hōgo) ‘Goshin’ei’. Furthermore, this paper also clarifies the facts the overnight duty of teachers who closely related with their role to store and guard ‘Goshin’ei’, even at the risk of their lives. Regarding the contents and characteristics of the school ceremonies in the Meiji period, this is summarised in Seikei University, Annual of the Teacher Training Course No. 28. “School and Society-Holidays and School Ceremony during the Establishment Period of Public Education” (published by Seikei University Teacher Training Course Centre, 2019).
