Spectral algorithm for fractional BVPs via novel modified Chebyshev polynomials fractional derivatives
This paper introduces a spectral algorithm tailored for solving fractional boundary value problems (BVPs) using the fractional derivatives of modified Chebyshev polynomials. Specifically, it addresses linear and non-linear BVPs and Bratu equations in one dimension via spectral methods. The approach employs basis functions derived from first-kind shifted polynomials that satisfy the homogeneous boundary conditions. The fractional derivatives are formulated to facilitate the solution process. The convergence analysis is studied for the suggested basis expansion; some numerical results are exhibited to verify the applicability and accuracy of the method
Geoinformation wildfire mapping of Ukraine: analyzing FIRMS data for effective fire management
Sustainable growth in Earth remote sensing data necessitates the advancement of interpretation methods to address a wide array of economic challenges. This research paper proposes the development of a methodology to automate the assessment of fire-affected areas using GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS. Data on fire localization from NASA/NOAA Suomi NPP and NOAA-20 and MODIS (M6) satellites, sourced from NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS), as well as annual land use/land cover data from ESA WorldCover 2021, are utilized for this study. The series of maps obtained from the aggregation and generalization of fire distribution data for individual years across the administrative regions of Ukraine from 2021 to 2023 allows for the assessment of fire density, their correlation with different land cover types, and spatio-temporal changes. Graphs showing the distribution of fires based on land cover types in Ukraine for 2021–2023 have been generated. Additionally, the dynamics of fire occurrences in 2023 compared to 2022 are presented
Establishment of housing transfer inspection items using SEM: Empirical study in Taiwan
Disputes during the housing transfer process often lead to dissatisfaction for homeowners. This study aims to address these issues by (1) proposing a comprehensive house inspection guideline with key items and criteria, and (2) evaluating how inspection services influence homebuyers’ purchase intentions and perceived value. Based on comprehensive literature review and expert input, eight major inspection categories and 43 criteria were identified. These formed the basis for a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework and three hypotheses. A pilot survey with 50 participants confirmed strong reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha: 0.880–0.945). Of 500 distributed questionnaires, 206 valid responses were collected. SEM analysis showed that inspection services significantly enhance both purchase intentions and perceived value, with R² values exceeding 79% in most areas, except for environmental inspections. Building structure, water supply/drainage and water leakage are the most influential findings in shaping perceived value. These results highlight the importance of targeted inspection services in addressing homebuyer perceived value and improving the overall housing experience in Taiwan
Analyzing rental time and pricing trends before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic
This study examines the dynamics of rental time on market (TOM) for residential properties in Szczecin, Poland, from 2016 to 2023. Using data from the regional MLS system administered by the West Pomeranian Association of Realtors (ZSPON), the analysis spans four distinct periods: pre-pandemic (2016–2019), pandemic onset (2020), transitional recovery (2021), and post-pandemic normalization (2022–2023). The study investigates two primary hypotheses: (H1) TOM differs significantly across pandemic phases; and (H2) TOM is correlated with rental price levels. Employing Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and General Linear Modeling (GLM), the results confirm both hypotheses. TOM increased sharply during early pandemic phases and decreased in subsequent years, though not returning to pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, listings with mid-range prices consistently showed the shortest TOM, while overpriced and underpriced listings were associated with longer market exposure. The findings contribute to the understanding of how external shocks, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, induce both temporary and persistent changes in rental market behavior. The study also offers practical implications for real estate professionals, suggesting that TOM-based modeling can enhance pricing and listing strategies, particularly during periods of uncertainty or recovery
Improving obsessive-compulsive buying through brand attachment and hedonic value: customer-based brand value
This study aims to explore how hedonic value influences obsessive-compulsive buying behavior by examining the mediating roles of brand attachment and customer-based brand value. The research addresses inconsistencies in previous studies on the influence of hedonic market value on obsessive-compulsive buying by integrating brand attachment and customer-based brand value as key factors. The literature review reveals a gap in understanding the mediating role of these variables in the relationship between hedonic value and compulsive buying. Six hypotheses were developed and tested using PLS-SEM within a sample of 246 customers in Central Java, Indonesia. The results highlight that customer-based brand value significantly mediates the impact of hedonic value on brand attachment, which in turn enhances obsessive-compulsive buying. Additionally, the study finds that brand attachment directly contributes to the increase in compulsive buying behavior. The findings suggest that a positive customer experience, influenced by strong brand identity, is crucial in fostering brand attachment and subsequently driving obsessive-compulsive purchasing. This research provides a comprehensive understanding of how hedonic and brand-related factors interact to influence consumer behavior
Business resilience and strategic responses in Ukraine and Lithuania during the Russia-Ukraine conflict: insights from the energy, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors
This study examines the economic implications of Russia-Ukraine conflict has had on business operations in Ukraine and Lithuania. It seeks to examine how businesses have responded to the turmoil emanating from the conflict by breaking down disruptions in supply chains, regulatory adjustments as well as changes in market needs with specific reference to energy, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. The research will analyze secondary data from industry reports, financial disclosures and government sources. We chose this method so that we can evaluate what is presently there without the complexities and biases that come with collecting primary data using methods such as interviews. At the center of this dissertation lies unearthing patterns plus strategic insights that would inform businesses practices for similarly turbulent climates. Thus, it should be noted that the key thrust of this particular work is to extract strategies and tactical recommendations which could help keep firms resilient to geopolitical risks as well as exploit any arising advantages. The results are expected to be relevant for lawmakers, corporate executives, and economy planners thereby broadening their strategic frameworks on business operations within areas characterized by wars. This proposal is looking for funding support for comprehensive data analysis aimed at developing informed strategies that might considerably change sustainability and growth paths of enterprises both in Ukraine and Lithuania. Therefore, reliance on documented evidence alongside rigorous analysis of data will assist us in understanding how these economies operate in challenging contexts like these; providing essential knowledge required not only for theoretical debates but also suggesting ways towards enhancing economic resilience during times of geopolitical conflicts
The interplay between geometry and numbers of blade in ducted propeller systems
This study designs and optimizes a ducted propeller (DP) via graphical and numerical methods. Ducted propellers with a thrust-to-omega ratio ranging between 0.12 and 0.20 and blade optimizations at the design point were obtained. The geometric selection of the blade path has a significant effect on the airflow in the duct system. Reasonable optimization of the dimensions of the sheath, tube, and curvature can effectively improve the axial flow. For different aerodynamic loads, the corresponding graphs are produced. Therefore, the number of blades increases, and the overall stall margin is expanded for a particular blade. The large discrepancy between the mechatronic properties of experimental and computational studies of DPs implies that the blade geometry can largely affect the mechatronic properties of DP models, thus offering a new direction for designing the development of propulsion systems. A grey-based hybrid decision support framework for assessing the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainable performance: a case study of BIST-listed banks
The present research has been designed to address two significant gaps in the existing literature pertaining to the banking industry. Firstly, it presents a set of criteria derived from the Refinitiv database for the evaluation of ESG sustainability performance. Secondly, it puts forward a novel methodological framework that is both novel and noteworthy in the MCGDM field. This framework employs a grey-based multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) technique with Bonferroni aggregation to comparatively analyze banks’ ESG sustainable performance. The developed methodology uses extended versions of three very recent methods, like the Modified Standard Deviation (MSD), Symmetry Point of Criterion (SPC), and Simple Ranking Process (SRP), based on the utilization of interval grey numbers. The Bonferroni aggregation operator is utilized for the aggregation of the experts’ evaluations concerning the alternatives based on the selected criteria. A real-life case study on seven publicly traded banks in the Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index is conducted with the aid of five experts. The research results imply that among the three main ESG dimensions, environmental management practices emerged as the most important factor influencing banks’ sustainable performance. This finding also signals that banks that adopt sound environmental management practices into their business models may gain a competitive edge over their competitors in terms of environmental regulations, resilience to environmental risks, and achieving high performance and stability. Finally, the model’s validity is checked via comparison and sensitivity assessments. The outcomes of the two-stage validation analysis corroborate the robustness and dependability of the suggested grey MCGDM model
Refreshing the design of a regional economic growth model in the context of the new digital decade
The digital economy is a significant objective of future development of the European space and is included alongside other strategic objectives in the 2030 and 2050 Agenda of the European Union. According to the European Union’s Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), the Nordic countries (Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden) are the top performers of the European Union. In the same time, Romania ranks last in the 2022 ranking. Current research analyses the four areas of the digital economy (human capital, digital technology integration, connectivity, and digital public services) in a mix that is correlated with regional indicators of sustainable development to design a regional model of digital economy growth. The methods of study include restructuring the DESI rankings and regional reclassification based on the criteria of correlative ranking of digital economy indicators in correlation with sustainable development indicators and the design of structural equations. The study results will form the basis of a public policy proposal to accelerate digital development for disadvantaged European regions.

Creative integration of Egyptian cultural heritage in electric vehicle styling
This paper explores the integration of Egyptian cultural heritage into electric vehicle design, aligning with Egypt Vision 2030 principles. The purpose is to investigate how ancient Egyptian symbols can inspire innovative electric vehicle styling and assess the educational outcomes of such a design project. Conducted as a coursework project at the October 6 University in Giza, 6 of October, Egypt, this initiative challenged product design students to design electric vehicle’s using symbols and motifs used in ancient Egyptian civilization. The methodology included four phases: 1) research and inspiration; 2) ideation and refinement; 3) digital modelling, and 4) physical modelling. The findings showed that integrating cultural symbols enhanced the aesthetic and symbolic value of the electric vehicle’s, fostering creativity and deeper cultural appreciation among students. Practical implications suggest that such designs can appeal to consumers seeking unique and culturally meaningful products. The originality and value of this paper lie in demonstrating how cultural heritage can be preserved and promoted through contemporary design, contributing to both educational outcomes and market innovation
