Visualising anthropomorphism as a creative communicative mode in Samit Basu and Ashish Padlekar’s The Tall Tales of Vishnu Sharma: Panchatantra
In today’s ocular-centric era, vision and visuality play a significant role in representing ideas. This article analyses anthropomorphism as a communicative mode that helps readers comprehend a story’s underlying meaning, using a socio-semiotics metafunction as a lens. The study focuses on Samit Basu and Ashish Padlekar’s adaptation of the famous Panchatantra collection, The Tall Tales of Vishnu Sharma: Panchatantra (published in 2015), where creatures with the ability to speak are the central characters. This story emphasises a diverse group of characters from the world of Panchatantra who communicate their problems to Vishnu Sharma, their chosen guardian, through the transformation of animals into humans. Through the use of animated letters, mascots, and anthropomorphic parameters, barriers can be eliminated in a creative approach. The paper underscores the significance of studying signs and interpreting visually represented social phenomena in order to articulate culture, society, and historical context. The research is divided into two sections: the first section explores the function of images by analysing image artefacts that question the presence of anthropomorphism. In contrast, the second section introduces the four degrees of anthropomorphism and their characteristics. The hypothesis posits that anthropomorphism can effectively convey meaning, especially in stories aimed at children. This study seeks to contribute to a greater comprehension of the use of anthropomorphism as a creative mode of communication in contemporary literature
Creativity of director’s solutions in Kyz-Zhibek play: colour, visual body movements, and their interaction
The artistic creativity trends of the contemporary theatrical process are aimed at complicating forms, deepening meanings, expanding the space for creating a new theatrical form, and, as a result, searching of the creative solution to comprehend the results of such experiments. Since contemporary theaters are targeted at developing and creating new performances, it is necessary to understand the potential of visual drama in the context of equality and effectiveness of all stage visual elements. As a variant of the adequate language search for the theater and society communication, visual dramaturgy becomes one of the fundamental in the context of the contemporary Kazakh theater development. In this study, the authors set out to identify and analyze the colour and body movement in their interaction on the example of the Kazakh national play Kyz-Zhibek (Kazakh: Qyz Jybek) directed by Dina Zhumabayeva in 2020, as it is visual intertext and reminiscence, addressed to the viewer reflection. As a creative solution to the study of the colour and body movement relationship in the visual network of signs organization of the play Kyz-Zhibek, such methods as semiotic analysis, vectorization by Patrice Pavis and the method of visual dramaturgy by Knut Ove Arntzen were used. In the study, we followed the goal of clarifying how the director creates and fills colour with body movement, strengthening and expanding meanings, and how this process can be studied and analyzed in order to be used for communication with the audience and in further contemporary theater studies
Conceptual modeling of the structure of a geoinformation system for formation of land plots in state and municipal ownership of settlements
The article deals with the issues of automation of land cadastral information processing based on the modern international standards for management and processing of geospatial information. Object-relational databases together with the GIS provide powerful opportunities for collection, systematization, processing, analysis of various data, as well as storage and visualization of spatial information. According to the results of the analysis of the current legislative provision and processing of the existing data based on the international standards of the ISO 19110 series, the research developed a conceptual scheme of the geospatial database for the formation of state and municipal land plots within settlements. The research provides a model for checking the topology of the geospatial database of the system of automated formation of state and municipal land plots within settlements according to the structure and requirements of the international standard “ISO 19107:2019 Geographic information. Spatial schema”. The developed conceptual model and topology verification model are the basis for physical data modeling and allow ensuring the principle of interoperability in the Spatial Data Infrastructure
Decoding the knowledge space of ‘Architectural and Urban Traditions’ utilising a metadata framework
This article explores the discourse on Architectural and Urban Traditions (AUT), examining its evolution expressions, and manifestations as a knowledge space. Utilising a Metadata Framework (MF) based on six lines of inquiry–scale, discipline, geographical diversity, typology, governance, and investigation methods–this research systematically examines the relationship between various research dimensions as perceived, researched, and interpreted by academics and scholars. It involves text mining and content analysis to enable deeper, data-driven exploration of evolving themes and patterns within the AUT knowledge space. The MF is implemented through the case of the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE), which is identified based on its focus and longstanding contribution to the discourse since the late 1980s. The study demonstrates how the two pillars of IASTE–Traditional Dwellings and Settlements Review (TDSR) and the biennale conferences (recently annual conferences) have shaped the discourse on traditional environments. It primarily contributes to the field by advancing the application of the Metadata Framework (MF) as a systematic tool for mapping the evolution of AUT discourse, providing valuable insights for future research. Key findings reveal a significant rise in technological integration and governance studies, sustained interest in studying intangible cultural heritage, and growth in linking this with advanced technologies. Conclusions are drawn to elucidate evolving, emerging, and declining themes and areas within the overall knowledge space of architectural and urban traditions
How can data manipulation matter in predicting the failure risk? Evidence from Romanian companies
Recent fraud scandals have raised concerns about the reliability of financial data disclosed in financial statements. The main purpose of this article is to investigate how financial data manipulation affects company failure risk. The research sample comprises 63 non-financial Romanian companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange between 2015 and 2020. Three types of statistical methods were used to determine and consolidate the results. The results partially support the strand in literature according to which there is a correlation between manipulated data and failure risk. More specifically, the findings indicate that there is no statistically significant correlation between the Beneish Model and the Altman Z-score. However, after a more in-depth investigation taking into account the specific elements that indicate the existence of customized data in financial data, it was discovered that, among the eight Beneish model component variables, days\u27 sales in a receivable index, sales growth index, and total accruals to total assets have a significant impact on the measurement of bankruptcy risk. This study constitutes an important contribution to the body of knowledge because it focuses not only on the relationship between the risk of failure and financial statement manipulation, but it examines also the significance of financial manipulation indicators in predicting the likelihood of bankruptcy. Our findings are valuable to decision makers seeking a deeper understanding of the reality behind financial data presented in financial statements
Bibliometric analysis of digital financial reporting: a comprehensive review of research trends and emerging topics
Digital Financial Reporting (DFR) has gained significant research attention amid the digital transformation. This study comprehensively reviews DFR research, identifies trends, and highlights emerging topics. Key trends include advancements in sustainability reporting and improved financial reporting quality while emerging topics like XBRL and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) reflect evolving research interests. Utilizing bibliometric methods, the study quantitatively analyzes DFR literature from Scopus, Emerald, Google Scholar, OpenAlex, Crossref, and SAGE. The research involved data sourcing, screening, eligibility selection, and bibliometric analysis. Findings show a dynamic increase in annual publications in DFR, with noticeable peaks and shifts in research focus over time. A notable rise post-2016 culminated in a peak in 2023, indicating sustained scholarly interest and field evolution. This study contributed into how digitalization enhances financial reporting quality, addressing gaps from previous bibliometric analyses. It emphasizes systematic trend analysis, identifying research gaps, and exploring factors driving the digital transformation of financial reporting. These insights guide researchers in developing new variables and strategies to advance DFR solutions, enhancing the accuracy, transparency, and accessibility of financial information through digital innovation
Small sample data pricing research based on Reptile algorithm
Reasonably pricing data resources contributes to the development of the digital economy. However, in the early stage of the development of the data market, the data transaction volume is small, and the resulting small sample problem makes it difficult to accurately model and forecast the price of data. To address this issue, this paper constructs a meta-learning-based data price prediction model: MLP-Reptile. The model introduces a meta-learning tuning module to optimize the weight parameters of the base model, facilitating effective knowledge transfer learned from multiple tasks to enhance prediction accuracy in new tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MLP-Reptile model excels in small sample data pricing tasks, outperforming other models. Additionally, the paper analyzes the different primary factors influencing data prices in various industries. The methods proposed in this research are universally applicable for addressing the small sample problem in data pricing, providing a reference for solving similar issues
Effects of the COVID-19 crisis on work-life balance, mental health, and perceived health status among Hungarian defense employees: a cross-sectional study
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted profoundly on the mental and physical health of defense personnel, due to their involvement in the enforcement of COVID-19 measures and confined work environments. This cross-sectional study assessed the effects of the pandemic on work-life balance, mental health, and perceived health status among Hungarian defense employees. Data was collected from 300 employees of a Hungarian defense company using an online questionnaire that included demographics, work-related observations, mental health scales (DASS), and perceived health status (SF-12). Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicated that work type, flexibility, and workload remained stable before, during, and after the pandemic. Compensation satisfaction (p = 0.025) showed a slight increase post-COVID-19, while organizational support did not significantly change (p > 0.05). Work-life balance significantly decreased during the pandemic (p = 0.012), and the mental health indicators stress (p = 0.005), anxiety (p < 0.001), and depression (p < 0.001) increased significantly. Reliability analysis (Cronbach’s alpha) demonstrated good internal consistency across the scales. These findings underscore the significant negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of defense employees, reinforcing the need for sustained support mechanisms to promote both physical and mental well-being in this workforce
Factors of visual organization effective on the protection of vernacular landscapes in the foothill villages
As the cultural heritage of a country, the texture of vernacular villages is the main factor that forms the vernacular landscape. These textures provide visual values that play a determinant role in presence and residence continuity in rural areas. However, many vernacular landscapes of foothill villages in Iran have become problematic due to interferences and a lack of proper management mechanisms. It is essential to formulate a theoretical framework for parameters affecting the vernacular landscape protection to handle the development process and preserve this precious heritage. This is an exploratory study in terms of nature and is descriptive-survey research in terms of data collecting method. The statistical population comprises 31 experts in architectural and rural fields who were interviewed through a non-random network method. The techniques used in this study include content analysis, Delphi, and correlation, and the collected data are analyzed using SPSS software through Q factor analysis, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis. The results show that 9 factors can be extracted based on the priorities and mental patterns of the experts for visual organization: adaptability, coordination and orderliness, visibility, comfort, permeability, compatibility, legibility, attractiveness, and landscape. Among the mentioned factors, the higher explained variance percentage (14.097%) belongs to adaptability. According to the obtained results, 99.4% of variations in the vernacular landscape have been explained by these 9 factors among which, visual attractiveness and visibility have the highest effect on vernacular landscape protection in foothill villages with impact coefficients of 0.318 and 0.279, respectively at the significance level of 99%
An assessment of an urban protected area through a space syntax approach: the case of Ordu, Turkiye
Traditional architecture, preserved and integrated into urban life, has the potential to become a point of attraction for cities and contribute to their image. The aim of this study is to analyse the configurational characteristics of the urban conservation area and its immediate surroundings, which constitute the historical core of the city of Ordu, and the general condition of the registered architectural examples in the area. The evaluations of the spatial configuration are based on the analyses of connectivity, global and local integration, which are the basic parameters of the spatial sequence method. As a result of the study, it can be seen that the two main traffic arteries of the area, Sıtkı Can Street and Dr Osman Hilmi Memecan Street, have the highest sequence values. Although it can be seen that Sıtkı Can Street, one of these traffic arteries, is more advantageous than other streets in terms of the registered civil architecture stock in the area, it is important that restoration processes should be implemented as soon as possible in order to ensure structural and historical continuity and not to lose the registered civil architecture examples located in different parts of the study area
