Aspects of Identity Questionnaire (AIQ-IV) developed by Cheek and Briggs (2013) and global citizenship scale developed by Morais and Ogden (2011) were adapted as research instruments to collected the required data. Results show the prevalence of global civic engagement and social responsibility is comparatively lesser among the participants than other global citizenship skills. The students supported all four types of identity orientations. The study concludes that the four identity orientations have significant and direct associations with major global citizenship skills

Developmentof understanding in Science requires the use of reasoning skills whichneeds to be inculcated among students. The aim of this study is to use thequestioning method to develop reasoning skills among seventh-gradestudents in science subject. The questioning method is a strategy whichcan encourage students to think and improve their reasoning skills. Twointact groups of seventh-grade students were selected randomly ascontrol and experimental groups. It was a three-month interventionwhich consisted of three phases. Separate pre-test/post-test was given foreach phase of the study. After the intervention, posttest scores of bothgroups for the three phases of the research were compared. Majorfindings of the study addressed the efficacy of questioning asinstructional pedagogy for the development of reasoning skills in grade 7students in Science subject
Need Assessment for the Professional Development of Teachers in Content Knowledge of Instructional Planning and Strategies
In 2009 the National professional standards were introduced for teachersin Pakistan to determine a nationwide quality of teaching. Thesestandards focus on the quality of teacher preparation from this timeonwards; the present study was initiated to determine the needs of theworkforce who are already in the practical field and how they mayachieve the established standard. Therefore, in the light of the prescribedstandard “Instructional Planning and Strategies (IPS)”this articleinvestigated the levels of content knowledge of IPS possessed by theteachers in secondary schools; it further determined the difference in thecontent knowledge levels of urban & rural, male& female teachersregarding IPS. It was a survey type quantitative study with a populationspread of secondary school teachers (SSTs) working in the fourprovinces and Federal Capital. A multistage sampling procedure wasadopted to collect data from 400 SSTs belonging to the population area. The need of the in-service teachers for acquiring content knowledge ofIPS was gauged through a questionnaire based on seven indicators ofcontent knowledge given in the professional standards; the teachersfurther prioritized their training needs in these defined areas. Moreover, data triangulation was done to ensure the validity of the study. The indepthanalysis revealed that SSTs possessed different levels on eachindicator of content knowledge of IPS but a meager number wascompetent in it. Independent sample “t-test” was applied to calculate thedifference between content knowledge of IPS possessed by the male&female, urban& rural SSTs

A total sample of N= 200 participants were selected out of which 100 students were enrolled in coeducational, boys and girls, each (n= 50) and 100 participants who were enrolled in non-coeducational schools, boys and girls, each (n= 50) with ages ranging between 14-19 years old. The scales used in the research were The Self-Consciousness Revised Scale (Scheier & Carver, 1985) and Social Interaction Anxiousness Scale (Leary, 1983). In this backdrop, the purpose of this exploratory study isto determine the roles, barriers and challenges for development ofsustainable private sector HEIs in Punjab using semi-structuredinterviews form 11 faculty members working in private sector HEIs inPunjab, thematic analysis was carried out using NVivo 12. In general, allthe participants agreed that private sector HEIs are the knowledgecreating institutes and they can actively promote the sustainabledevelopment in Pakistan through faculty training and active involvementof all the stakeholders and action oriented research. Major barriers werefound to be lack of finance, poor research culture, faculty incompetencyand inadequate management support. It is suggested that HEIs must usethe resources in an optimal manner and develop appropriate class roomenvironment, effective curriculum, right technology usage, solutionbased research and well developed infrastructure to generate theinnovative solutions for sustainable development
Assessing Authentic Representation of Learning Outcomes in Tests of Teacher Education
Instructional decisions depend principally on the results of assessment in any of the education systems. But for the purpose, authentic representation i.e., direct alignment between the predetermined learning objectives and assessment tasks of the instructional system is essential. However, the weak linkage of the given two factors in instruction, makes ‘validity of results’ as well as resultant certification, questionable. The current study was, therefore, conducted to address the issue of alignment in learning objectives and tests, for assessing authentic representation of learning outcomes in tests being used for appraisal of teacher education. The accessible population consists of the tests developed and conducted for assessment of the prospective teachers by the teacher educators of public sector universities. A ‘Frame for Assessing Alignment of Tests’ (FAAT) was developed for data collection. This frame consists of two sub-frames i.e., FAAT-I, for collecting data from the teacher educators; and FAAT-II, for experts’ judgements to determine the level of alignment in learning outcomes and tests tasks. Data were collected on 36 tests, developed by the 18 teacher educators, in the form of teacher educators’ perceptions about the linkage and experts’ judgement to endorse the educators’ reported linkage or otherwise. The results showed that there is a partial evidence of authentic representation of learning outcomes in the tests tasks being used in teacher education programs

To this end, forty students fromGovernment Girls Higher Secondary School from Intermediate Part IIwere selected as an average sample after their Proficiency in EnglishLanguage Test (PET). They were divided into two equivalent groupsafter pretest. The concept mapping treatment was given to theexperimental group for six weeks. They composed 10 expository essaysfollowing concept mapping strategy for each essay. The control groupwas taught in a conventional way. Pretest-Posttest score difference ofwriting achievement of control and experimental groups revealedsignificant difference. It was observed that the he treatment group wrotemore organized, extensive, comprehensive and rich essays than thosewritten by students of control group. The findings suggest that conceptmapping is a practical tool in prompting expository writing skill of thestudents at intermediate level in Pakistani perspective
ANALYSIS OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS OF PAKISTAN FOR ICT-INTEGRATION THROUGH OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING: A CASE STUDY
The purpose of the study was to analyze the teacher education and training program of Pakistan for ICT-integration. It was hypothesized that there is a possibility to integrate Information and Communication Technology in teacher education and training program of Pakistan. It is a case study with the objective to analyze the teacher education program of Pakistan for the possibility to integrate-Information and Communication Technology through Open and Distance Learning.
