    How Newspapers Proliferated Sports in St. Louis in the 1960\u27s

    Known for its passionate fanbase, St. Louis has a unique position for the sports scene. This goes back as far as the 1960’s, where the city was in a position it hadn’t been before, with four different professional sports franchises, including all four in St. Louis at the same time for one year. Scholars have examined different aspects of how multiple sports franchises in major cities have affected them, including financial and media coverage, but have failed to examine how newspapers were able to cover professional sports year-round in a market that was passionate about their hometown teams. In this article, I will examine St. Louis sports from a media lens, particularly using the 1960’s in sports as a case study of how newspaper media was able to cover professional sports in the city, including the run of success the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals had during the decade, the introduction of the St. Louis Football Cardinals and St. Louis Blues, along with the death of the St. Louis Hawks

    Elisabetta Sirani’s Timoclea: Baroque Agency and the Aesthetics of Feminine Rage

    This thesis examines Timoclea Kills the Captain of Alexander the Great (1659) by Elisabetta Sirani as a foundational example of feminine rage within the Baroque period. By framing Timoclea’s violent act not as an outlier or solely reactive gesture, but as a deliberate, composed assertion of power, Sirani constructs a model of feminine agency that defies patriarchal expectations of female submission and passivity. Through interdisciplinary analysis grounded in feminist theory, formal visual analysis, and retrospective cultural studies, this research argues that Sirani’s Timoclea exemplifies the Baroque’s strategic use of socially acceptable iconography to veil explicit challenges to gendered expectations. This study resists reductive psychoanalytic readings that tie women’s artistic expressions solely to biographical trauma, insisting instead that feminine rage is not merely anecdotal or reactionary, but inherent and historically situated with respect, as well, to individual experiences. By comparing Sirani’s work to other contemporaneous representations of violent women, this thesis repositions Sirani as a critical voice in early modern feminism. Ultimately, this research recovers and redefines feminine rage as a composed, deliberate, and aesthetically powerful force that challenges the patriarchal gaze and expands the canon of Baroque art history

    Integrating Neuroaesthetic Design into Brain-on-Chip Research: Toward Enhanced Neural Engagement and Cognitive Accessibility

    This study examines the potential for neuroaesthetic design and adaptive neurofeedback principles to enhance brain-on-chip (BoC) research, with an emphasis on optimizing neural engagement and cognitive accessibility for diverse populations. Existing BoC platforms have transformed neuroscience through high-fidelity modeling of neural circuits, yet cognitive accessibility and sensory inclusion remain comparatively underexplored. Drawing upon recent studies in neuroinclusion, multisensory interface design, and adaptive feedback, this work synthesizes findings from biophilic interface architecture, neurofeedback literature, and embodied cognition frameworks. The manuscript outlines a multidisciplinary research agenda that prioritizes sensory diversity and ethical considerations in the evolution of BoC systems. Instead of making unverifiable or overgeneralized claims, the discussion focuses on plausible experimental approaches and mechanisms—such as AI-driven neurofeedback, real-time biofeedback, and personalized sensory modulation—supported by peer-reviewed evidence. Emphasis is placed on translational strategies to accommodate neurodivergent user groups, mitigate algorithmic bias, and foster inclusive neural interface development. By reimagining BoC systems through the lens of neuroaesthetic engagement, this article calls for a paradigm shift in the design and application of neurotechnology, encouraging the integration of scientifically grounded, accessible, and ethically responsible methodologies
