Watch our National Champions Cheer and Dance teams perform before the first pitch and 
join fellow Lindenwood community members at the Lindenwood tents inside the stadium

Fall 2025 Gender Studies Book Club 
 
The Gender Studies program is pleased to invite all members of the LU community to 
participate in our Fall 2025 book club. The title for the semester is Jeffrey A. Brown, Love, 
Sex, Gender, and Superheroes (Rutgers University Press, 2022) and is available through the 
University library's EBSCO E-Book Collection.  
 
The book club is open to anyone working or studying at Lindenwood, and meets once a 
month to discuss the selected title, engaging in a rich conversation drawn from the variety 
of perspectives participants bring with them. This semester’s meeting schedule is: 
• September 17, 2-3 p.m. 
• October 15, 2-3 p.m. 
• November 12, 2-3 p.m. 
All meetings will be held in LARC 363, SASS Conference Room 
 
Page ranges to be read for each session will be sent with the confirmation email following 
sign-ups for the book club. We welcome those registered for the book club to attend and 
participate in one, two, or all three sessions, per your schedule. There will be online as well 
as in-person options to participate, and faculty members who participate will receive 
professional development credit through the Learning Academy. 
 
Please indicate your expression of interest by Friday, September 12. 
 
 
 
 
 
The academic success team for student-athletes demonstrate Q2 service and 
regularly put students first by communicating promptly and professionally. They 
consistently show up for international students in particular, helping them navigate 
schedules, visa regulations, policies, and communication between coaches and 
faculty. Recognition is long overdue for how well they serve student-athletes and 
help them balance academics and athletics. The team consists of Assistant 
Athletics Director for Academic Success and Development Roy Tippett, and his 
team of Academic Coordinators Shawn Nagel, Mya Wallace, and Chandler 
Diercks. I also want to recognize Senior Associate Athletic Director Katie Zingg.

Professional Advisor Chris Chappell is truly a pleasure to work with and consistently 
does what is right. He communicates professionally and promptly, ensuring students 
receive the support they need, and he has become my go-to for advising questions. 
He is the type of employee who makes the jobs of others easier and deserves to be 
recognized for that!  
  
The first week of classes came with a challenge that resulted in two biology classes 
not having an instructor. Instructor of Biology Dr. Rebecca Williams stepped up to 
take care of these students. Within one evening she completely updated the Canvas 
shells, communicated with students and reassured everyone that we were going to 
have a great semester!  Professor of Biology Dr. Alison Albee and Associate 
Professor of Biology Dr. Chad Welsh also stepped up and took on additional courses 
so that the burden was spread across the department! We thrive together!  
  
After unexpected travel issues, our football team returned to St. Louis without 
enough buses to bring support staff back to campus from the airport. Without 
hesitation, Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Anna Girdwood, Coordinator 
for Athletic Compliance and Community Service Griffin Manning, and Senior 
Associate Athletics Director Katie Zingg jumped into action. They waited at 
Enterprise for 15-passenger vans, then drove to the airport to pick up our staff—right 
in the middle of an already busy day. Their quick thinking, teamwork, and willingness 
to go above and beyond ensured that our staff made it back to campus smoothly. 
They exemplified the kind of dedication and problem-solving spirit that deserves 
recognition.

Two Ways to Learn, Endless Ways to Grow! On Demand and Instructor-Led Courses 
Now Available 
 
The Learning Academy can now offer courses using two different types of delivery modes:  
• Instructor-led courses are either in person or virtual and have a specific date and 
time for the course.  If you enroll in an instructor-led course, you will receive an 
Outlook calendar invitation for each enrollment.  All you need to do is look at your 
Outlook calendar to review the date, time and modality of the course.  If it’s a virtual 
course, go to your calendar to enter the course from the Teams link in the 
invitation.    
• Self-directed courses are on demand, like the courses in LinkedIn Learning.  You 
can enroll in a self-directed course and take it at your convenience.  Self-directed 
courses consist of videos, documents, images, etc. There is no instructor.  
 
Both types of courses have at least one lesson that is required for you to take or view 
before Workday Learning will move the course from In Progress to Complete in your 
transcripts.  On the course homepage, if the lesson doesn’t indicate it is optional, then it is 
required to 
complete the course. Check out the learning catalog in Workday Learning today and enroll 
in a professional development opportunity! If you have questions, contact the Learning
