International audienceThis article analyzes cultural democratization in two Portuguese institutions: the private gallery Casa d'Avenida and the Michel Giacometti Municipal labour Museum. It traces the history of these places, it studies their social and educational project through cultural mediation for schools. Finally, it shows the role of these heritage spaces in the transmission of local culture.
International audienceFrom an epic corpus of the twelfth-thirteenth centuries written in the language of the North of the Loire but located in a wide South, and with Count Guillaume as the hero, we have set up a typology of the different relationships that the character of the great layman maintains with stone and buildings. We confronted it with contemporary social practices, and other discourses that explicitly reuse the epic corpus. Indeed, the buildings appear to be an effective marker for describing the way in which each textual type and each writing strategy impact spatial representations, in connection with the social character who produce the writings, as social taxonomy is inseparable from its lieu. The lieu is invariably mentioned in the configuration of social taxonomies and in an axiological project. Through the topic of the buildings, and provided that we identify the main causes for concealing, or displaying, the buildings, it is thus possible to define this epic corpus as the writing, in a language that is not Latin, of a "memory of the origins" indeed aristocratic and secular, by great laymen.

International audienceThis paper deals with belief change in the framework of Dempster-Shafer theory in the context where an agent has a prejudice, i.e., a priori knowledge about a situation. Our study is based on a review of the literature in the social sciences and humanities. Our framework relies on the claim that prejudices and evidences should be dealt with separately because of their very different natures (prejudices being at the meta level, governing the evolution of beliefs). Hence, the cognitive state of an agent is modeled as a pair whose components reflect its prejudices and uncertain beliefs. We propose a general formalism for encoding the evolution of this pair when new information arrives, this is why the study is related to Dempster's revision. Several cases of prejudice are described: the strong persistent prejudice (which never evolves and forbids beliefs to change), the prejudice that is slightly decreasing each time a belief contradicts it, etc. A general example with several prejudices and complex masses illustrates our approach.</div

Sufficiency power consideration to run a workload on renewable energy operated datacenter
International audienceDatacenters are an essential part of the internet, but their continuous development requires finding sustainablesolutions to limit their impact on climate change. The Datazero2 project aims to design datacenters runningsolely on local renewable energy. In this paper, we tackle the problem of computing the minimum power demandto process a workload under quality of service constraint in a datacenter operated with renewable energy. To solvethis problem, we propose a binary search algorithm that requires the computation of machine configurations withmaximum computing power. When machines are heterogeneous, we face the problem of choosing the machinesand their DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling) state. A MILP (Mixed-Integer Linear Programming),to find the optimal solution, and four heuristics that give satisfactory results in a reasonable time are proposed.simulations show that the best heuristics reach an average deviation from the optimal solution of 0.03% to 0.65%.The binary search algorithm is challenged against a real workload to assess the impact of flexibility on the qualityof service
