Ang pagdalumat at paglalapat ng makabayang edukasyon sa kurikulum ng junior high school baitang 7–10

    No full text
A cyclical process defines the constant examination and revision of the educational system, particularly in the field of curriculum, where the direction of shaping the country’s youth is rooted. Amid the implementation of the Enhanced K–10 Curriculum under the MATATAG program of the Department of Education, the consideration of the nation’s educational ideology and orientation remains a significant concern. This study aims to theorize and apply nationalist education as an alternative framework that may serve as a foundation for deeper, liberatory, and compassionate teaching in Junior High School. The study employed a qualitative documentary-interpretive approach, using thematic and hermeneutic analysis, document analysis, content analysis, and thematic synthesis drawn from various publications and curriculum-related documents. It proceeded through four stages: conceptualizing nationalism through academic, historical, and literary lenses; describing nationalist education through an analysis of papers that emphasized its various types; assessing the Enhanced K–10 Curriculum based on official documents; and applying nationalist education to Junior High School through a thematic synthesis of the findings. The study yielded a comprehensive model of nationalist education for Junior High School. From this, it articulated the principles that should guide nationalist education, standards for content selection, key teaching strategies that deepen social consciousness, and principles of nationalist classroom management grounded in democratic relations, collective responsibility, and service to the people. Overall, the study demonstrates that nationalist education is not merely an ideological proposition but a pedagogical praxis and a concrete translation of national principles into curriculum and instruction directed toward forming critical, compassionate, and nationalist citizens

    No full text
This descriptive-explanatory quantitative study examines how the levels of organizational commitment, cultural intelligence, and interpersonal relationship skills among MSME resort employees influence their communicative adaptability, which in turn affects their work performance. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge by expanding how organizational commitment, cultural intelligence, and interpersonal relationship skills influence communicative adaptability and, in turn, affect work performance among MSME resort employees in the Philippines. The research employed a digital survey with adapted versions of several scales for each variable, administered to 290 MSME (micro, small, medium enterprise) resort employees from selected provinces in the Philippines. Results showed that three components of organizational commitment were significantly correlated with most dimensions of communicative adaptability, with some exceptions in wit, social experience, and articulation. Cultural intelligence exhibited a significant positive correlation with communicative adaptability. Similarly, interpersonal relationship skills were significantly correlated with most dimensions of communicative adaptability, except for a few specific dimensions. Lastly, communicative adaptability was significantly correlated with most dimensions of work performance, except for wit and articulation. These results expand the understanding of cultural intelligence and interpersonal skills beyond their traditional definitions, while providing empirical evidence on how organizational commitment fosters adaptive communication and improves service outcomes

Application of spherical fuzzy-DEMATEL and ANP methods for barriers analysis of co-management of urban organic waste and human waste: A case study of Phnom Penh Cambodia

    No full text
The adverse environmental impact caused by improper waste management are extremely important issue in developing countries. It is essential and advantageous to implement the co-management of urban bio-wastes within a circular economy framework, yet the certain challenges and complexity are involved in incorporating the necessary changes to move from a linear approach to circular thinking. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to understand all potential barriers to successfully perceiving solutions for effectively co-managing bio-waste. This study aims to develop and apply an integrated Spherical Fuzzy-Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (SF-DEMATEL) methodology and Analysis Network Process (ANP) to understand the barriers to implementing the co-management of urban organic waste and human waste in Phnom Penn City, Cambodia. SF-DEMATEL is used to achieve the interdependent variables of causal and effect diagram while ANP is used to identify and arrange all criteria dependency networks. The eight potential barriers were identified throughout a literature review prior to validation with thirteen key experts divided into 4 sub-groups (government, development partner, academics, and private companies) who have access to information pertinent to these problematic issues. The SF-DEMATEL and ANP results show that lack of regulatory enforcement and implementation to control the illegal disposal of municipal solid waste and septage waste is perceived the most important barrier which should be firstly addressed to ensure the effective co-management of urban bio-waste. Implications from this study indicate the proposed method could capture both the inherent strength of importance of the barriers and their interrelationship to identify the important barriers that require immediate action in co-managing the said wastes. By understanding the inherent importance of the barriers and the intensity of influence among them, insight from the present study could be materialized into actionable policy recommendations with the vision to achieve SDGs and explore the benefit of a circular economy

Exploring the Demographic and Psychological Predictors of Willingness to Pay Taxes for the Environment Among Filipino Taxpayers in 2010 and 2020

Society has a collective responsibility to preserve the natural environment, which is practiced in different ways, including paying taxes. However, little is known about factors contributing to people’s willingness to pay taxes for the environment. This exploratory study examined the demographic (age, gender, education, income, type of community) and psychological predictors (perceived socioeconomic status, environmental concern, environmental self-efficacy, environmental skepticism, governmental trust) of willingness to pay higher taxes for the environment by conducting a secondary analysis of two nationally representative datasets collected one decade apart, the Philippine datasets from International Social Survey Programme 2010 and 2020 Environment Modules. Based on the 2010 sample (N=1200), the results of hierarchical regression revealed that younger adults and those living in big cities are more willing to pay taxes for the environment. However, no psychological predictors were associated with willingness to pay taxes. Results from the 2020 sample (N=1500) showed that males and people living in big cities are more willing to pay taxes for the environment. Psychological predictors, including subjective perception of socioeconomic status (but not objective socioeconomic status), lower environmental self-efficacy, and greater governmental trust, significantly predicted a greater willingness to pay taxes for environmental causes. Limitations, future directions, and policy implications were discussed

The Role of South Korea in the Strategic Rivalry between China and United States of America

The beginning of the 21st century was marked by the intensification of the Sino-American confrontation due to armed conflicts, competition for resources, and spheres of influence. South Korea, as one of the main strategic partners of both countries, needs to choose a clear foreign policy strategy to maintain the balance of power in the region. The purpose of the study is to identify the main factors and key trends in shaping the role and influence of South Korea on China-United States of America relations by studying it as one of the most important geopolitical regions in the rivalry between the two countries. The following methods were used: system analysis, scenario modeling, comparison, generalization, the statistical method, and the historical-systemic method. The prehistory, basic features, and characteristic features of Sino-American relations have been studied. The main spheres shaping the relationship between the two states in the 21st century have been identified. The most acute problems and the most important sectors in the field of international relations that create contradictions in the cooperation between China and the United States of America are summarized. The role and place of South Korea in the strategic confrontation between Beijing and Washington are outlined. The level of Seoul’s influence on some areas of interaction between the two states is emphasized. The Korean aspect in Sino-American relations, as a determining factor in balancing the confrontation between the countries, is analyzed; the main areas of interaction between the Chinese and American sides with representatives of the Korean political elite are considered and studied. The result of the study was an emphasis on the predominant role of Washington in choosing the modern vector of development of the South Korean state, as well as on the gradual cooling of cooperation between Seoul and Beijing, especially in the spheres of trade, economics, and financial relations. It is also found that South Korea is the main element in solving the North Korean problem in the context of preserving peace on the peninsula and strengthening the influence of one of the opposing countries in the region. The results and conclusions of the work can be used as a basis for further research on the topic – in the context of the development and implementation of state strategies and plans for the conduct of foreign policy
