Development of the scale of inner spiritual values for adolescents and young adults: Assessing the strengths of gratitude forgiveness and patience
Studies in psychology and religious sciences emphasize that spirituality and values are important protective factors in general mental health as well as in disasters such as illness, natural disasters and war. In terms of including many classifications regarding the content of values, the comprehensive ethical values classification stands out with its emphasis on intrinsic values and its spirituality-based approach. This study aims to develop an intrinsic spiritual values scale based on the comprehensive ethical values classification. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted and a semi-structured form was developed by the researchers. With the developed form, a pool of items was created as a result of the responses obtained from adolescents and young people, teachers and parents and the literature review. The item pool was presented to the opinions of academicians who are experts in the field and Turkish language experts. As a result of the feedback, the pilot form was administered to 600 adolescents and young people. After the application, exploratory factor analysis was conducted and a structure with 3 factors and 28 items emerged for the scale. After the confirmatory factor analysis performed on the structure revealed in the exploratory factor analysis, the fit indices were examined and the 3-factor 28-item structure of the scale was confirmed. Afterwards, the reliability of the scale was tested using internal consistency analyses, test split analysis, composite reliability, and test-retest methods, and it was seen that the scale was reliable with all methods. "Satisfaction with Life Scale" was used for the criterion-related validity of the scale and as a result of the analyzes, it was seen that the scale of intrinsic spiritual values provided criterion-related validity. According to the results, the contribution of the scale to future research was discussed and various suggestions were made to researchers and field workers about the scale of intrinsic spiritual values
The effects of globalization on economic growth: The case of the People’s Republic of China
Literatürde küreselleşme tarihini Sanayi Devrimi’nin hatta 2. Dünya Savaşı sonrası döneme dayandıran çeşitli araştırmalar bulunmaktadır. Ancak küreselleşmenin tarih öncesi dönemlerde temelinin oluştuğu, şekillendiği tarihlere kadar dayandıran çalışmalar oldukça azdır. Yapılan araştırmalarda Çin coğrafyasının ve bu bölgede kurulmuş çeşitli devlet oluşumlarının küreselleşmenin doğuşu ve şekillenmesinde oldukça etkili olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir. Tarih öncesi dönemden bugüne Çin coğrafyasında kurulmuş devlet oluşumlarının, diğer kıtalarda yer alan devlet oluşumları ile etkileşimde bulunduğu için Çin coğrafyasının günümüz Çin devleti olan Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti tezimizin ana bileşenini oluşturmaktadır. 1949’da kurulan ÇHC son 30 yılda gösterdiği yüksek ekonomik büyüme verileri ve diğer devletlerde kurduğu ekonomik etkileşimler doğrultusunda oldukça önemlidir. ÇHC’nin ekonomik büyümesinin temelinde ekonomik, sosyal, politik anlamlarda küreselleşme hareketlerinden yararlanması nedeniyle son yıllarda gelişme sürecine yönelik hakkında pek çok araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlgili çalışmada ÇHC’nin Ekonomik büyümeye ilişkin verileri yine ÇHC’ye ait çeşitli KOF endeks verileri ile Granger Nedensellik Analizi kapsamında test edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda yalnızca ÇHC’nin seçili KOF endekseleri ile ÇHC’nin ithalat ve ihracat verileri arasında nedensellik olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.General literature includes different beginning dates in Globalization History. Some research mentions it dates back to the Industrial Revolution but some research mentions it dates back to the post-World War era. However, general literature has rarely been researched including to beginning of the prehistoric period of Globalization History. In recent years, research conducted in Chinese geography lands and formerly established states on lands can contribute to the formation of Globalization. Since in prehistoric period, based on the Chinese states interacted with the other continent states. So our thesis's main subject is already formed by today's Chinese state, the People’s Republic of China. When founded in 1949, The PRC exhibited the highest growth rates in three decades. The PRC with other countries economic interactions took advantage of three decades. Due to the PRC's benefits from economic, social, and political globalization movements, the countries growth process interest to researchers. In the related research, the PRC's economic growth data are tested with various KOF index data within the scope of Granger Causality Analysis. As a result of the analysis, it is concluded that there is causality only between the selected KOF indices of the PRC and the PRC's import and export data
The quality, accuracy, and readability of information about hidradenitis suppurativa provided by artificial intelligence: Comparative analysis of ChatGPT, Copilot, and Perplexity
Owing to shame and stigmatization, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients may seek information about their disease on artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots. We aimed to evaluate the readability, quality, and accuracy of HS-related information provided by 3 AI chatbots: ChatGPT-4o, Copilot, and Perplexity. The 24 most frequently queried keywords regarding HS were identified using Google Trends. In this observational and cross-sectional study, we asked ChatGPT-4o, Copilot, and Perplexity chatbots for these keywords. The readability was evaluated using Flesch readability ease and Flesch-Kincaid grade level scores. SpaCy software v3.8.2, TERA (The Text Ease and Readability Assessor), TAALED (Tool for the Automatic Analysis of Lexical Diversity, βv1.4.1), and TAALES (Tool for the Automatic Analysis of Lexical Sophistication, v2.2) were used for the further linguistic analysis. The ensuring quality information for patients (EQIP) and DISCERN tools were used to assess the quality. The accuracy was assessed using a 6-point Likert scale. Perplexity exhibited the highest text length (P < .001). Copilot exhibited better readability scores (P < .001). Perplexity had higher FKGL (P = .001) and lower FRES (P = .001) than the others regarding the outputs in the "test, operation, investigation, or procedure & drug, medication, or product" category. Nevertheless, none of the chatbots achieved the necessary level of readability. Lexical diversity was lower in Perplexity than in the other chatbots (P < .001). Referential cohesion was highest in Perplexity, whereas deep cohesion was highest in Copilot (P < .001 and P = .009, respectively). Age of acquisition was lowest in Copilot responses (P < .001). Copilot achieved the highest EQIP score with "good quality with minor problems" (P < .001). ChatGPT had the lowest DISCERN scores (P = .001). Although all chatbot models displayed favorable accuracy results, Perplexity had higher accuracy scores compared to Copilot (P = .020). All the AI models had difficult reading levels as college or postgraduate. Copilot seemed to generate lexically simpler outputs, while Perplexity produced longer responses with more referential cohesion but lower lexical diversity. ChatGPT, Copilot, and Perplexity seem insufficient for providing extensive, easily understandable, and exactly accurate medical information about HS
An assessment of target markets for Türkiye's sea bass (dicentrarchus labrax) exports: The capma technique approach
T & uuml;rkiye is the global leader in sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) production and ranks second in exports. While sea bass is T & uuml;rkiye's most exported fish, it is crucial to enhance this export to provide greater economic value and ensure the sustainability of production and exports. Therefore, exploring alternative markets is essential. This study aims to evaluate, compare, and classify alternative markets with the potential to boost T & uuml;rkiye's sea bass exports. For this purpose, a relatively new multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method, the Classification Approach of Potential Market Alternatives (CAPMA) technique, was used in the study. The study encompassed a comprehensive analysis of 30 alternative markets, evaluated against five criteria, and categorized into four groups based on their capacity to enhance export volumes. The analysis identified nine countries (Sweden, France, Poland, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Thailand, the United States (US), and Malaysia) with the highest potential to increase Turkish sea bass exports. Six countries (Germany, Denmark, Finland, Singapore, Brazil and Canada) were identified as other countries where export potential is important to ensure country diversification, which is important for T & uuml;rkiye's sustainable sea bass production and exports
A matrix-statistics-aware attention mechanism for robust rul estimation in aero-engines
Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) is a vital approach which aims to predict the failure of engineering systems at an early stage and optimize maintenance strategies. It operates through continuous system monitoring, anomaly detection, fault detection, and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation. Accurate RUL prediction for aircraft engines is critical for enhancing operational safety and minimizing maintenance costs. Traditional methods are largely dependent on handcrafted features and domain-specific knowledge. They often fail to capture the nonlinear and high-dimensional degradation dynamics of real-world systems. In this study, we propose an enhanced deep learning architecture combining Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Bidirectional LSTM networks with a new Matrix-Statistics-Aware Attention (LSTM-MSAA) method. Unlike conventional attention methods, our proposed method incorporates auxiliary scalar features, such as the Frobenius norm, spectral norm, and soft rank, into the attention score computation. This hybrid model provides a more informative representation of engine state transitions. The model is evaluated on both legacy and newly released C-MAPSS datasets from NASA's Prognostics Data Repository. Experimental results reveal a reduction in RMSE compared to baseline models, validating the effectiveness of our attention fusion strategy in capturing intricate degradation behaviors and improving predictive performance
An engineering approach to perceived quality in automotive product development
Algılanan kalite, müşterinin bir ürün hakkında henüz bilgisi çok kısıtlıyken algıladığı kalite seviyesidir. Müşterinin ürün hakkında bilgisi kısıtlı olduğu için, ürünün ilk izleniminin çok iyi olması istenir. Müşteri algısını içerdiği için soyut bir kavram olarak ele alınabilir. Bu çalışma, soyut bir kavram olan algılanan kalitenin otomotivde ölçülebilir metriklere dönüştürülmesini amaçlamıştır. Bu amaçla, araç kapıları, otomotivde algılanan kaliteye mühendislik yaklaşımı sergilemek üzere örnek parça olarak seçilmiştir. Araç kapıları, açılıp kapanma, güvenlik ve estetik gibi çok boyutlu görevler üstlenir. Araç gövdesine bağlantıları sadece menteşeler ve kilit ile yapılmasına rağmen, aracın üzerinde sanki gövde ile kapılar tek parçaymış gibi uyum göstermesi beklendiği için özellikle kapılar üzerinde çalışılacak parça olarak seçilmiştir. İlk bölümde algılanan kalite kavramı ele alınırken, ikinci bölümde detaylı literatür araştırması ile otomotivde algılanan kalite kavramı, araç kapıları fonksiyonel ve estetik isterler, araç kapılarının açma kapama enerjisinin hesaplanması gibi konular ele alınarak araç kapılarında algılanan kalite beklentilerinin listelenmesi ile bölüm tamamlanmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise, kapılarda açma kapama hoşnutluğu için kayar kapılarda açma kapama kolu müşteri beklentilerinden tasarıma kadar ele alınmıştır. Bu alanda, algılanan kalitenin tasarıma girdi sağlanması hedeflenmiştir. Müşteri odaklı (KFG, Kano) modelleri yanı sıra, istatiksel yöntemler (Taguchi, Pugh matris) kullanılarak rijit bir tasarımı amaçlanmıştır. Paralel olarak, üçüncü bölümde, kapıların açma kapama enerjisinin hesaplanması için, araç üzerinden alınan ölçümlere yer verilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde ise, araç kapılarının enerji hesaplamaları için bulunan bulgular tartışılmıştır. Pearson analizi yapılarak etkenler analiz edilmiş ve akabinde regresyon analizi ile bir model önerilmiştir. Bu çalışmaların doğrulanması ile son olarak, algılanan kalitenin modellenmesi ve optimizasyonuna odaklanılmıştır. Bu çalışma, otomotiv özelinde algılanan kalitenin tasarım aşamasından ele alınması için bir rehber olmakla beraber, farklı sektörlere de uygulanabilir.Perceived quality refers to the level of quality a customer senses about a product when they still have very limited information about it. As the customer’s knowledge is restricted at this stage, perceived quality is crucial. This study aims to transform the initial concept of perceived quality into measurable metrics in the automotive industry. For this purpose, vehicle doors were selected as a case study component to demonstrate an engineering approach to perceived quality in automotive applications. Vehicle doors perform multidimensional functions such as opening and closing, ensuring safety, and providing aesthetic appeal. Although they are connected to the vehicle body only through hinges and locks, they are expected to align seamlessly with the body as if they were a single piece—making them a particularly relevant focus for this study. The first section discusses the concept of perceived quality. In the second section, a detailed literature review explores perceived quality in the automotive context, expectations from vehicle doors, and the calculation of door opening and closing energy. This section concludes with a list of perceived quality expectations for vehicle doors. In the third section, the focus shifts to sliding doors, examining the opening and closing handle from customer expectations to design. The goal here is to incorporate perceived quality as an input into the design process. In addition to customer-focused models (KFG, Kano), statistical methods (Taguchi, Pugh matrix) are used to achieve a robust design. In parallel, this section also includes measurements taken from the vehicle to calculate the energy required to open and close the doors. The fourth section discusses the findings from the energy calculations of vehicle doors. A Pearson analysis is conducted to examine the influencing factors, followed by a regression analysis to propose a model. With the validation of these studies, the final focus is on results of the study. While this study serves as a guide for addressing perceived quality from the design phase in the automotive industry, it is also applicable to other sectors
Legume and nut flours from the mediterranean area: Proximate compositions, techno-functionalities, and spectroscopy patterns as a function of species, origin, and treatment
This study systematically evaluates proximate composition, color, techno-functionalities, and spectroscopy patterns of 19 legume and 16 nut commercial flours of the Mediterranean area. Effect of species, origin, and treatment were analyzed using a Generalized Linear Model. Except for legume proteins, species and origin significantly (p <= 0.001) affected flour composition, while heat treatment only had a significant effect (p <= 0.05) on nuts. A large variability was observed in fats (0.6-69 g/100g) and proteins (3.7-36 g/100g), and the FT-IR spectra reflected the 35-flours composition. Principal component model clearly distinguished flours based on their carbohydrate, fat, and protein contents. For legumes, color indices, bulk density, and emulsifying properties were significantly affected by species, origin, and treatment, while foaming properties were influenced only by species. For nuts, oil absorption capacity, emulsion properties, and foaming properties were significantly affected by species, origin, and treatment. The origin had a significant effect on water retention capacity (40-433 %) of nuts. Computational modeling and analysis on chemically reacting species in catalytic oxidation reaction mechanism: Novel model reduction and NSFD scheme
Multi-step catalytic mechanisms are an important issue related to chemical kinetics to reduce, and such reduction directly affects the quality and efficiency of modeling complicated reactions. Nevertheless, the currently available literature is using the traditional fractional method that is poorly positioned to address the global non-local and fractal characteristics of catalytic systems. This paper will fill this gap by using fractal-fractional derivatives with generalized Mittag-Leffler kernels and using Nonstandard Finite Difference (NSFD) scheme to study kinetic equations. As a representative model, to study the behavior of numerical solutions, steady-state, and stability to various rate coefficients, the selection of Water-Gas Shift (WGS) reaction is made. Gibbs rule is used to reduce the higher dimensional system to a lower dimensional model by using two model reduction methods known as Spectral Quasi-Equilibrium Manifold (SQEM) and Intrinsic Low-Dimensional Manifold (ILDM). It was found that the fractal-fractional model is more representative of the memory and heterogeneity of the system whereas the NSFD model exhibits stability and positivity better than the existing approaches. Sensitivity analysis also indicates the effect of individual species to the system dynamics. The results are useful on how to effectively model the catalytic mechanism and avenue towards creating more realistic and consistent chemical simulation models
Aural architecture of historical Turkish baths
Construction of Historical Turkish Baths was prioritized particularly after the 12th century, which has still been serving as a central element of communal life throughout the history of Anatolia. These unique structures present a variety of auditory experiences (soundscapes) due to changing user numbers and activities, which may occur individually, in groups, or simultaneously, such as rituals and gatherings that involve private and/or collective bathing, live music, and catering. Due to the unique variety of usage, the preservation and continuity of the structures are deemed essential. This study investigates the aural architectural environments of Turkish baths, over four selected baths in Bursa, Turkey: Karamustafa (15th c.), Yeni Kaplica (16th c.), Kaynarca (17th c.), and Tahiraga (19th c.). Anechoic stimuli are created by the convolution of anechoic sound recordings (speech and folk music in Turkish) for the current and historical states of baths through auralization. The difference between the present and historical states is highlighted by the material changes, especially plastering, over time. An online listening test and field survey are used to understand user preferences and perceptions. Relationship between room acoustic conditions (reverberation time, cocktail party effect, Lombard effect) and different activity patterns are investigated together with room geometry and nature of the sound sources
Non-suicidal self-injury in depressed adolescents: A social-cognitive deficit or an emotional response?
Objective: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has been identified as a prevalent behavior among adolescents, particularly those with major depressive disorder (MDD). The present study sought to examine differences in neurocognition, social cognition, negative urgency (NU)-the tendency to act impulsively in response to negative emotions-and anxiety among adolescents with MDD and NSSI, MDD without NSSI, and healthy controls. Method: A total of 204 adolescents (aged 11-17 years; 161 girls [78.9%], 43 boys [21.1%]) were divided into three groups: (1) MDD with NSSI, (2) MDD without NSSI, and (3) healthy controls. Participants completed psychiatric assessments, computerized neurocognitive tests, emotion recognition tasks, and self-report measures of NU and anxiety. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22. Descriptive statistics included frequencies for categorical variables and medians for continuous variables. Group comparisons were performed using chi-square-based tests and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Logistic regression identified predictors of NSSI, with significance set at p < .05. Results: Adolescents with MDD exhibited significant deficits in executive function and episodic memory, as well as elevated NU and anxiety, compared to healthy controls. Furthermore, adolescents with MDD and NSSI reported significantly higher levels of anxiety (particularly panic symptoms) and NU compared to those with MDD alone. Conclusion: These findings suggest that emotional difficulties, particularly impulsivity and panic symptoms, play a crucial role in NSSI among adolescents with MDD rather than cognitive disturbance, highlighting potential targets for prevention and intervention efforts
