Kegiatan Bakti Sosial untuk Masyarakat Miskin di Wilayah Pesisir Kabupaten Karawang
The coastal communities of Karawang Regency are still facing poverty issues. Therefore, the community service team carried out community service activities in social service. Sedari Village, Cibuaya Subdistrict, was the location for social service activities. In addition to the Sedari Village Government and its staff, this activity involved students in encouraging empathy, concern, and support for coastal communities, especially in the village. This activity encountered several obstacles, especially regarding road access to the social service location, considering that the activity was carried out during the rainy season. The implementation of this social service was appreciated by the Sedari Village Government, especially the Tanjungsari Hamlet apparatus, its staff, and the local community because this activity still needs to be carried out in their area. Activities to ease the burden on people experiencing poverty not only rely on government programs but also require the role and contribution of stakeholders in the Karawang Regency area, including Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang
Pelatihan Desain Kemasan dan Perhitungan Harga Jual untuk Produk UMKM Desa Salo Palai
Salo Palai Village is one of the villages in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. Salo Palai Village has several garden products such as pepper and other processed garden products such as banana chips, fruit syrup and so on. With garden products and processed garden products, this village has the potential to be able to develop the welfare of its community through MSMEs from several of these products. As an MSME business that continues to grow, good packaging and calculating the selling price of MSME products are things that should be considered in attracting and introducing their products to consumers in order to increase the value and number of sales of their products. By conducting lecture methods and direct training to participants, it will have a direct impact on them on how to design good packaging and promotions for MSMEs. Thus, community service activities in the field of design and promotion through financial calculations for product sales are expected to be an effort to provide an understanding of the importance of increasing sales value

Une Perspective de Genre sur la Protection Sociale Adaptative pour maximiser l'Impact sur les Femmes et les Filles au Sahel: Orientación para el Programa de Protección Social Adaptativa del Sahel
The Sahel — considered to include Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal for the purpose of this study — is a complex environment with high rates of poverty and gender inequality which are exacerbated by climate change, natural resource scarcity, insecurity, and conflict. The impacts include loss of income, food insecurity, erosion of human and productive capital, and displacement. Experiences of these crises are not gender neutral — women and girls are more adversely affected, particularly if they experience additional characteristics that marginalize and exclude. Women and girls across the Sahel experience important differences in education, health and nutrition, economic opportunities, and well-being. They are also subjected to high rates of gender-based violence and early marriage and pregnancy. This paper explains why and how gender-responsive adaptive social protection (ASP) matters in the Sahel. It describes key elements of the gendered context that have implications for all aspects of ASP — from the design of delivery systems and programs to implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning. For each phase of the social protection delivery chain, the paper demonstrates why a lens on gender matters to maximize the impacts of interventions; what progress the Sahel Adaptive Social Protection Program (SASPP) has made in integrating a lens on gender; and key focus areas for SASPP to promote ASP that is gender-responsive across the Sahel to maximize results for poverty alleviation, jobs, resilience, and women’s empowerment.
Impact of a Skills Intervention to Address Intrahousehold Constraints for Women Entrepreneurs in Ethiopia
Husbands are often key stakeholders and influential in women’s enterprise performance. Intrahousehold constraints and relational dynamics may contribute to a gender gap in entrepreneurship. This mixed-methods paper uses a randomized controlled trial and qualitative research to examine whether the returns to a skills intervention to women business owners are higher with a couples training. The couples training curriculum involves modelling effective communication techniques between married women entrepreneurs and their husbands to help build empathy, scrutinize intrahousehold resource allocation, and encourage greater spousal support. The findings suggest that the skills intervention increases business practices and women’s economic autonomy with treated women being 30 percent more likely to report sole decision-making power in their business. Smaller firms (defined by lower than median baseline profitability) benefit the most from the couples-based approach, earning 50 percent higher revenues and profits when trained with husbands. The channel to higher profitability appears to be improved negotiation skills affording women more time for their businesses, without increased marital conflict. Larger firms increase access to credit but there is no evidence of an impact on profits. The paper contributes to the evidence base on engaging men to help unleash the economic potential of women
Quatre Leçons Opérationnelles Tirees du Burkina Faso et du Cameroun
In recent years, violent conflict has
spiked significantly, affecting low-income countries in
particular, and shaping an increasingly complex fragility
landscape. By 2030, over half of the world’s extreme poor are
expected to live in countries experiencing fragility,
conflict, and violence (FCV). Conflict and poverty are
strongly interconnected; not only does conflict compound
experiences of poverty, but economic instability, resource
scarcity, and state weakness also exacerbate conflict
dynamics. In the Sahel, one of the poorest and most
conflict affected regions in the world, countries
additionally face high vulnerability to climate change and
other shocks, and a growing influx of refugees and
internally displaced persons (IDPs) is placing further
strain on limited services and resources.Ces dernières années, les conflits violents ont

Gender Barriers, Structural Transformation, and Economic Development
The representation and significance of women in the labor force have grown significantly over the past five decades around the globe. Using nationally representative data from more than 90 countries, this paper documents distinct gender patterns in employment transitions across both sectors and occupations during this period. Using a model of occupational and sectoral choice and focusing on six major economies, the paper finds that declining gender barriers — defined as gender-specific distortions in employment and wages — were a key driver of the observed rise in female labor force participation, expansion of the service sector, and increases in real GDP per capita from 1970 to 2018, but with substantial variation across countries
Overcoming Intertwined Challenges to Reach Upper Middle Income Status in Bhutan by 2029
The document collection focuses on
the challenges and opportunities facing a nation striving to
achieve upper-middle-income status. Despite recent economic
growth and poverty reduction, the country faces structural
obstacles, including a small domestic market, high trade
costs, and limited private sector job opportunities. This
has led to a reliance on the public sector and state-owned
enterprises, with limited economic diversification and
productivity improvements. The document highlights the need
for a coalition of stakeholders, including citizens, civil
society, the private sector, and development partners, to
implement critical reforms and actions. These reforms aim to
promote economic progress, invest in people, and contribute
to a more livable planet. The document emphasizes the
importance of strengthening the private sector, improving
infrastructure, investing in education and healthcare, and
promoting sustainable development through renewable natural resources
Findings from Social Survey
Over the past two decades, Mongolia has achieved significant economic growth, achieving upper-middle-income status in 2024. To continue this trajectory of growth and development, Mongolia needs to tackle the increasing challenge of changing climate and extreme weather events, which threaten traditional rural livelihoods and food security. These climate trends are accompanied by increasing spatial inequalities. The need for improving climate adaptation and resilience in rural Mongolia is closely linked with objectives of climate mitigation and green transition of the rural economy. Recognizing this complex and interrelated challenge, the Government of Mongolia has put in place legislation and policies toward climate adaptation, mitigation, regional development, and the protection of herders. This study complements prior research and contributes to policy development for sustainable climate adaptation and mitigation in Mongolia, specifically by providing primary evidence on citizens’ knowledge and understanding of climate change, as well as their ability to apply coping strategies, collaborate, and influence policy decisions on climate action
A Fresh Take on Reducing Inequality and Enhancing Mobility in Malaysia
For the first time, this report looks
comprehensively at the evolution of inequality and mobility
in Malaysia over the last two decades and into the
post-Covid era, as well as what drives these trends. This
report includes income inequality trends since the Covid-19
pandemic, utilizing the most recent household survey data
from the 2022 household income, expenditure and basic
amenities survey (HIES and BA). These data are included as
part of a comprehensive analysis of inequality that goes
beyond the Gini coefficient to understand how inequality has
evolved over the last two decades in Malaysia. What is also
new in this report is, for the first time, a measure of the
related but distinct concept of income mobility - how much
individuals move up or down the income distribution over
time. In addition, while previous works have focused on
ethnic gaps or on regional gaps, this report emphasizes that
a great extent of inequality occurs within these groups, and
high lights the intersection of ethnicity and location as a
salient marker of inequality. Finally, whereas other
research presents inequality trends without an analysis of
what drives them, or focuses just on a single driver of
inequality, this report examines a range of them, including:
access to health, education and other public services, the
quality of those services, access to employment
opportunities and the returns to education, the role of
shocks and the role of fiscal policy. In using a lifecycle
approach to understand these drivers, the report shows how
gaps in income gaps today are the result of gaps in
opportunities earlier in life, and moreover how these
disparities compound on each other over the lifecycle
