    Hypertension in the elderly can increase the workload of the heart and arteries which, if continued, can cause damage to the heart and blood vessels. So that requires routine medication adherence to reduce blood pressure. While the elderly with hypertension must take medication regularly because adherence and a good understanding in carrying out therapy can affect blood pressure and prevent complications. This study aims to determine the pattern of the use of hypertension drugs in outpatient geriatric patients in kindergarten hospitals. II Pelamonia Makassar in January-March 2019. This type of research is a non-experimental quantitative study using descriptive design. Descriptive research that aims to make a systematic, factual, and accurate description of the facts and the nature of a particular population or area. This study obtained 23 medical records of geriatric patients who met the inclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria in this study were geriatric patients diagnosed with hypertension with age usia 60 years and receiving hypertension treatment. The results showed that the most commonly used classes of hypertension were amlodipine by 23%, single candesartan by 17%, and micardis by a single 13%, and the most used drug combination therapy was a combination of amlodipine and candesartan by 17%, amlodipine and valsartan by 13%), while candesartan and bisoprolol by 17%

    Isolation of rhizosphere bacteria producing antimicrobial soil around the roots of the lime plant (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle). This study aims to obtain rhizosphere bacterial isolates originating from the soil around the roots of the Lime Plant (citrus aurantifolia Swingle) which can be used as antimicrobials. The research method was taken from the soil around the roots of the Lime plant and then diluted with dilutions of 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 to 10-5 dilution, then poured on NA media containing test microbes. The resulting isolates were then purified and coded JS-1, JS-2, JS-3. Microscopic examination results added 2 gram-negative bacterial isolates namely JS-1 and JS-3, while 1 gram-positive bacterial isolate was JS-2. The resulting isolate was then fermented with NB medium which produced supernatant and biomass, the supernatant was tested antimicrobial which produced active compounds of rhizosphere bacteria (JS-1 and JS-3) from the root soil of the Lime plant have the ability as an antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia Candida albicans coli and fungal tes

    Abstract: The high ratio of population in Pamenang, Tanjung, and Gangga sub-districts compared to existing facilities and health workers is a very principle problem related to health education for the community, including information about medicine. One of whichis about the correct methods of how to get, use, save, and dispose medicines which is abbreviated with the DAGUSIBU program, including how to use special medicines. The aim of this socialization was to educate the patients in the public health center in Pemenang, Tanjung, and Gangga sub-districts about DAGUSIBU. The DAGUSIBU socialization program was carried out through the delivery of material, discussions, questions and answers, and demonstration by the audience and Pharmacists. Participants that incidentally were patients in public health centrewere very enthusiastic about this program as evidenced by the activeness of the participants in asking questions and answering questions about DAGUSIBU. Keywords: DAGUSIBU, socialization, Pemenang, Tanjung, Gangga, medicin

    Edukasi virtual obat dexamethasone bukan penangkal COVID-19

    The coronavirus 19 (COVID-19) outbreak is an infection caused by the acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which are a pathogenic virus and highly contagious. The drug dexamethasone is only beneficial for patients infected with COVID-19 and has no effect on patients who are infected with mild symptoms nor can it prevent the entry of the COVID-19 virus. Taking dexamethasone without a doctor's prescription can trigger infection of the COVID-19 virus and have detrimental effects on the body. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide education that can increase understanding of dexamethasone which can not prevent us from getting infected by the COVID-19 and to inform the dangers of using dexamethasone that is not from a doctor's prescription. This is a quantitative research with a Pre-Experimental method using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design and the collecting data instruments used are multiple choice question types. The results of 30 participants complete data were analyzed using statistics with the Wilcoxon test with a P-value of 0,000 (P <0.05). The results showed that there was a significant effect on the use of educational methods in increasing participants' understanding of this drug. Furthermore, the N-Gain test was carried out with a result of 75.389%, so it concluded that the use of the educational method in the activity entitled "dexamethasone drug not an antidote to COVID-19" was considered quite effective in increasing the knowledge of participants who were facilitated by the pre-test and post-test
